Happy Tree Friends is set in a seemingly idyllic world populated by cute, colorful anthropomorphic animals. The stories revolve around their daily lives, friendships, and the perilous situations they stumble into.
Cuddles – An adventurous yellow rabbit recognized by his pink bunny slippers. While often optimistic, friendly, and sweet, Cuddles has a rebellious and mischievous streak that frequently leads him and his friends into dangerous, often fatal, situations. He enjoys rock music and extreme sports. He shares a close romantic bond with Giggles and is best friends with Toothy.
Giggles – A sweet and sociable pink chipmunk, easily identified by the large red bow on her head. Giggles is kind-hearted, enjoys tea parties, and is passionate about environmentalism. She is best friends with Petunia and romantically involved with Cuddles. Giggles is known for her frequent giggling.
Toothy – A light purple beaver distinguished by his very large, gapped buckteeth and freckles. Generally friendly and good-natured, Toothy can be impulsive and is known for crying easily in distressing situations. He is a huge admirer of the superhero Splendid. His best friend is Cuddles, and he is also close friends with Giggles and Sniffles.
Lumpy – A towering, dim-witted light sky blue moose with mismatched antlers. Lumpy is phenomenally clumsy and lacks common sense. Despite usually being well-meaning, he has shown moments of selfishness and cruelty. He has held a vast number of professions, all performed with spectacular incompetence.
Petunia – A royal blue skunk who wears a pink flower on her head and a pine-scented air freshener around her neck. Petunia is sweet and friendly but suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, particularly mysophobia (fear of germs), leading to an intense need for cleanliness. She is best friends with Giggles and has romantic interests in Handy and Mime.
Handy – An orange beaver construction worker whose arms are amputated at the stumps, covered with bandages. Despite his lack of hands (a fact he often forgets, leading to frustration), he is a skilled builder. Handy has a short temper and is one of Petunia's love interests. He also suffers from photosensitive epilepsy.
Nutty – A lime-green squirrel with a googly eye and various candies stuck to his fur. Nutty has an extreme, all-consuming addiction to sugar, which makes him perpetually hyperactive and jittery.
Sniffles – A nerdy, baby-blue anteater with glasses and a pocket protector. Sniffles is highly intelligent and constantly creates advanced inventions. He is in a perpetual, brutal war with a family of Ants who always outsmart and torture him.
Pop – A light sandy brown adult bear, often seen in a bathrobe and smoking a pipe. He is the well-meaning but woefully inept and inattentive father of Cub.
Cub – A small, innocent light sandy brown bear cub, Pop's son. Cub is typically seen wearing a diaper and a beanie with a propeller. He is playful and curious but blissfully ignorant of danger.
Flaky – A red porcupine covered in quills and white, flake-like dandruff. Flaky is extremely cautious, timid, and shy, possessing a long list of phobias. Despite her cowardice, Flaky can display surprising bravery. Her quills often cause unintentional harm. She have a notable allergy to peanuts.
The Mole – A pale magenta-pink mole who is completely blind and apparently mute, always wearing sunglasses and a turtleneck sweater that covers his mouth.
Disco Bear – A golden-furred bear with a large orange afro, dressed in 1970s disco attire. Disco Bear is a flamboyant flirt, constantly trying to woo Giggles and Petunia with his dance moves. He appears to be affluent and enjoys showing off.
Russell – An aquamarine sea otter pirate, complete with a Jolly Roger hat, eye-patch, hook hand, and two peg-legs. His vocabulary mainly consists of "Yar!" He enjoys fishing, sailing, and seafood.
Lifty & Shifty – Identical twin green raccoons, notorious kleptomaniacs. Shifty, distinguished by his fedora, often bosses Lifty around and is prone to betraying him.
Mime – A dark violet deer with white face paint and a striped shirt, who never speaks, communicating entirely through mimed actions.
Cro-Marmot – A prehistoric yellow-green marmot frozen in a block of ice, wearing a leopard skin loincloth and holding a club.
Flippy & Fliqpy – Flippy is a kind, sociable light green bear veteran, recognized by his beret and dog tags. He suffers from severe PTSD, which causes him to "flip out" when exposed to triggers reminiscent of war.
Splendid – An aqua blue flying squirrel superhero with a red mask. Splendid possesses immense powers, including flight, super strength, heat vision, and invulnerability. His only known weakness is a green, acorn-shaped mineral called "Kryptonut."
Lammy – An orchid-purple sheep with fluffy white wool and a purple bow, who appears sweet and cheerful. She is always accompanied by her best friend, a green pickle named Mr. Pickels.
Mr. Pickels – Lammy's constant companion, a green pickle who, in Lammy's perception (and possibly reality), wears a top hat and moustache and is animate.
The Ants – A family of cunning and sadistic ants who are the arch-nemeses of Sniffles. They consistently turn Sniffles' attempts to eat them into prolonged sessions of horrific torture, always resulting in his death.

- #1Cuddles
Keys: rabbit, yellow, pink, slippers, friendly, mischievous, optimistic, naive, rock music, skateboarding, soccer, extreme sports, daredevil, carrots, loyal, accident-prone, resilient, curious, energetic, playful, sweet, caring
Cuddles: The Adventurous Yellow Rabbit
Appearance & Essence
Cuddles is a vibrant yellow rabbit, instantly recognizable by his invariably cheerful demeanor and the peculiar pink bunny slippers he never seems to part with. His fur is a bright laser yellow, sometimes appearing as a softer lemon yellow hue. A fluffy, pale yellow tuft of curly hair sits atop his head, perfectly matching his cottony tail. His cheeks are a soft light pink, and his long ears, light yellow like his fur, are expressive, often perking up when he's happy or energized, and drooping when he's upset or sad. A light yellow belly marking and soles complete his distinctive look.
Though he may appear as merely a cute, cuddly, and sweet bunny on the outside (and indeed, he often is), Cuddles possesses a notably rebellious and adventurous spirit. He's a known enthusiast of rock music, and his talents extend to various extreme sports, including skateboarding, surfing, and soccer. He has even been seen embracing the role of a literal daredevil.
It is possible that in the episode Seize the Day, Cuddles is implied to have mental disorder, where he suffers from epileptic seizures.
Personality & Tendencies
Cuddles' personality is a fascinating blend of traits. On one hand, he is undeniably lovable, exuding an optimistic, friendly, sweet, and caring nature. His interactions are often marked by an innocent and sometimes naive worldview, which, while endearing, can make him susceptible to manipulation by those with less scrupulous intentions.
On the other hand, Cuddles harbors a dangerously mischievous and fun-loving streak. This thirst for excitement and a good time has, on numerous occasions, led to unfortunate and often grisly outcomes for himself and those around him. He can be quite the daredevil, sometimes failing to heed warnings from more cautious companions. Despite his penchant for getting into perilous situations, he remains a resilient figure in this often chaotic world. It has been observed that Cuddles sometimes experiences episodes that resemble epileptic seizures, a vulnerability he shares with his acquaintance, Handy. He is also said to have a particular fondness for carrots, despite a past rumor (now dismissed) suggesting an allergy.
Notable Relationships
Cuddles is a social creature and has formed bonds of varying degrees with many inhabitants of his world:
- Giggles: His closest and most significant bond is with Giggles, a pink chipmunk. What began as a strong friendship has blossomed into a clear romantic connection, often seen holding hands or sharing affectionate moments. They are frequently seen together, sharing adventures, and even in the direst of circumstances, like becoming zombified, their affection for each other endures. Cuddles can be quite devoted, sometimes to the point of near-obsession, and feels deeply when he perceives any threat to their bond.
- Toothy: Toothy, a beaver, is Cuddles' best friend. They share a strong camaraderie, often engaging in playful antics, teasing animals, or simply enjoying each other's company. Though misunderstandings can occasionally strain their friendship, they always seem to reconcile, their bond proving resilient. Cuddles often turns to Toothy to share his mischievous ideas.
- Lumpy: The large, blue moose Lumpy is generally a good friend to Cuddles. They've shared playground adventures, birthday parties, and even video game rivalries. However, Lumpy's characteristic clumsiness and occasional lack of awareness have often resulted in Cuddles meeting an unfortunate end.
- Flaky: Cuddles and Flaky, a red porcupine, share a good friendship, often seen on adventures together. However, their personalities sometimes clash due to Cuddles' reckless behavior and Flaky's extreme cautiousness. Flaky often tries to warn Cuddles of impending danger, usually to no avail.
- Sniffles: As another close friend of Toothy, Cuddles often finds himself in the company of Sniffles, the anteater. They are frequently seen together in group activities. However, Cuddles' playful antics can sometimes annoy the more studious Sniffles, especially when they lead to trouble.
- Petunia: While they appear in many of the same groups and are on good terms, Cuddles and Petunia, a blue skunk, have not had many direct, focused interactions. She has served him food and has been exasperated by his mischief in group settings.
- Handy: Cuddles and Handy, an orange beaver with amputated hands, are generally friends. They've gone trick-or-treating and played in a band together. However, Handy has been seen laughing at Cuddles' misfortunes, and Cuddles has inadvertently caused Handy harm.
- Nutty: The relationship with Nutty, a green, candy-obsessed squirrel, is more neutral, leaning towards a minor dislike. Nutty's attempts to snatch Cuddles' treats and other negative encounters have likely soured their interactions.
- The Mole: Cuddles and The Mole, a blind lavender mole, seem to be friends and have worked together as firemen and attended parties. However, The Mole's blindness has frequently led to Cuddles suffering injuries or worse, often with The Mole being completely unaware of the harm he's caused.
- Disco Bear: Cuddles generally dislikes Disco Bear, a golden bear with an afro, primarily due to Disco Bear's constant attempts to flirt with Giggles. Despite this, they have worked together, though Disco Bear's actions have also led to Cuddles' demise.
- Russell: Cuddles is friends with Russell, a teal sea otter pirate. They've sailed together and played baseball.
- Lifty & Shifty: His interactions with the kleptomaniac raccoon brothers, Lifty and Shifty, are mixed. He has unwittingly helped them in their schemes, only to be betrayed. However, there have been rare moments where the brothers have shown a flicker of concern for Cuddles.
- Mime: Cuddles and Mime, a purple deer, are considered friends. They've worked together on projects and Cuddles has even purchased items from Mime.
- Cro-Marmot: Cuddles is friends with Cro-Marmot, a prehistoric marmot frozen in a block of ice. They've played dress-up and baseball together.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Cuddles is friends with Flippy, a green bear war veteran. However, he, like everyone else, greatly fears Flippy's violent alter ego, Fliqpy, who is a frequent cause of Cuddles' (and others') brutal ends.
- Splendid: Cuddles appears to be a fan of the superhero squirrel, Splendid, attending his speeches. However, Splendid's well-intentioned but often disastrous attempts to help have also resulted in severe injury or death for Cuddles.
- Pop & Cub: Cuddles hasn't had many direct interactions with Pop, the tan bear, or his son, Cub. Pop once hit Cuddles with his car, and Cuddles showed a moment of excitement when a giant robotic Cub (Cubtron) picked him up, likely due to his adventurous nature, before it too ended poorly.
- Lammy: His interactions with Lammy, a purple sheep, have been minimal, mostly observing events alongside her.
Common Fates & Experiences
Life for Cuddles is a whirlwind of joy, adventure, and incredibly frequent, often gruesome, misfortune. It's a rare occasion when he manages to navigate a situation without suffering some form of injury or a swift, brutal end.
His demises are varied and imaginative:
- Being sliced, shredded, or cut in half (by turbines, windows, waterslides, railroad gates, airplane tray tables, or even elevator doors).
- Crushing (by whales, vehicles, boulders, or even falling furniture).
- Impaling (on straws, icicles, fence posts, rocks, buoys, or pipes).
- Explosions (from various sources, including his own zombified brain).
- Organ displacement or mutilation (intestines pulled out, brains filled with helium or hair, bodies forced through small openings).
- Freezing and shattering.
- Electrocution.
- Decapitation.
- Suffocation.
Despite the incredible frequency of these fatal encounters, Cuddles always seems to return, ready for the next adventure, seemingly oblivious or perhaps simply undeterred by his past experiences. He has, on rare occasions, managed to survive an entire escapade unscathed, a noteworthy feat in his perilous world. These survivals often occur during holiday-themed events or specific shorts.
His injuries, when not immediately fatal, are equally diverse and severe:
- Dismemberment or near-dismemberment.
- Being mauled or bitten.
- Having his face or head grotesquely damaged.
- Internal organs being exposed or expelled.
- Severe burns.
- Broken bones shattered further.
- Eyes melted or otherwise damaged.
- Eardrums ruptured.

- Farmer
- Firefighter
- Soccer Player
- Christmas Play Actor
- Daredevil
- Journalist
- Student
- Replacement Lead Guitarist / Rock Musician
- Carol Singer
- Swimmer
- Easter Bunny
These roles, like most of his endeavors, often place him in situations ripe with potential for disaster, which more often than not, comes to pass. Yet, his enthusiasm for each new role rarely wanes.
- #2Giggles
Keys: chipmunk, pink, red bow, sweet, shy, giggly, affectionate, environmentalist, tea parties, dolls, ice skating, roller skating, skiing, popular, damsel in distress, resilient, caring, friendly, playful, determined, loving
Giggles: The Sweet and Sociable Chipmunk
Appearance & Essence
Giggles is an adorable light pink chipmunk, easily recognized by the large, bright red bow perched jauntily on her head. Her fur sometimes takes on a warmer salmon hue. A distinctive white, diamond-shaped marking adorns her face, complemented by a white belly marking on her torso. Her ears are a taffy pink, and the marking on her head is a delicate lavender blush.
She embodies the spirit of a young, cheerful girl. Her interests are wholesome and sweet, often involving frolicking through fields of flowers, hosting delightful tea parties (especially with her best friend, Petunia), and enjoying activities like ice skating and roller skating. Her name is a direct reflection of her charming habit of giggling frequently, a sound that often bubbles up in her interactions. Giggles is also known to have an unfortunate allergy to roses.
Personality & Tendencies
Giggles is, at her core, a deeply affectionate and kind-hearted individual. She is often seen sharing hugs and playful moments with her many friends. Her demeanor is generally shy and sweet, making her easily approachable and well-liked. She possesses a bubbly personality that draws others to her.
Beyond her gentle nature, Giggles has a strong sense of environmental responsibility. She can become quite passionate and even indignant when she witnesses actions that harm the natural world, not hesitating to confront those responsible for such transgressions, like Lumpy's careless pollution.
Interestingly, despite her generally sweet disposition, Giggles often finds herself in perilous situations, frequently taking on the role of a "damsel in distress." When trouble arises, the hero Splendid is often the one to fly to her rescue, though his attempts to help frequently result in Giggles suffering further injury or even a fatal accident. However, Giggles is not always a passive victim; on occasion, she has shown surprising courage and has attempted to act as a hero herself, trying to save others from harm, even if her efforts don't always succeed. She is surprisingly resilient, often bouncing back from harrowing experiences with her cheerful spirit intact, at least until the next catastrophe strikes.
Notable Relationships
Giggles is arguably one of the most popular individuals in her community, known for her ability to get along with nearly everyone. She has formed numerous connections:
- Cuddles: Giggles shares a very special and prominent bond with Cuddles, the yellow rabbit. What started as a close friendship has clearly blossomed into a romantic relationship. They are frequently seen together, holding hands, sharing affectionate gestures, and embarking on adventures. Their connection is so strong that it persists even in the most bizarre circumstances, such as when they were both zombified.
- Petunia: Petunia, a blue skunk, is Giggles' undisputed best friend. They are inseparable, often seen sharing tea parties, sunbathing, and simply enjoying each other's company. Their friendship is a pillar of stability, never seemingly marred by conflict or annoyance.
- Lumpy: Her relationship with Lumpy, the large blue moose, is somewhat ambiguous and often fraught with conflict despite an underlying friendship. While they have shared friendly moments, Lumpy's actions, particularly those that harm the environment, often put him at odds with Giggles, leading to her displaying uncharacteristic anger and frustration. He has also been one of her many romantic interests, albeit debatably.
- Toothy: Giggles and Toothy, the beaver, are good friends. She has comforted him when he's hurt, and they've been seen playing together. She mourns his frequent demises, highlighting their friendly connection.
- Handy: Giggles gets along well with Handy, the orange beaver, though their relationship is purely platonic. Handy seems to respect her, and Giggles has shown him gratitude and served him kindly.
- Sniffles: Giggles views Sniffles, the anteater, as a great friend. They've gone exploring together and worked on environmental projects. She is often distressed by his misfortunes.
- The Mole: The Mole, a blind lavender mole, is a friend to Giggles and seems to harbor a recurring crush on her. They've been on dates, though The Mole's blindness often leads to disastrous and painful outcomes for Giggles, even when he has the best intentions (like mistaking her heart for litter).
- Russell: Giggles has had a clear romantic relationship with Russell, the sea otter pirate. They've shared dates on his rowboat and at his home, though their outings are often interrupted by perilous sea creatures.
- Cro-Marmot: Giggles has shown romantic interest in Cro-Marmot, the prehistoric marmot frozen in ice, particularly after witnessing his surfing skills. They've been on a date, though it was also interrupted. Kissing his icy form proved to be a painful experience for her lips.
- Mime: While Giggles once flirted with Mime, the purple deer, after he sported an attractive new wig (possibly to make Disco Bear jealous), their relationship is generally one of friendship. She has mourned his deaths and attempted to save him.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Giggles is close friends with Flippy, the green bear. However, she is a very frequent victim of his evil alter ego, Fliqpy. Despite this, Flippy (in his normal state) has been shown to have a crush on Giggles, and they have even dated.
- Disco Bear: Giggles generally dislikes Disco Bear due to his constant, unwelcome flirting. She often rolls her eyes or becomes annoyed by his advances and has even openly laughed at his expense. However, there have been rare, out-of-character moments where she seemed to appreciate a new hairstyle of his or showed horror at his demise.
- Nutty: Giggles isn't particularly fond of Nutty, the candy-obsessed squirrel. They rarely appear together without some trouble brewing. She has been annoyed by his foolish decisions, especially when they lived together in poverty.
- Splendid: Like many others, Giggles is a fan of the superhero Splendid, despite his rescues often going horribly wrong and resulting in her injury or death. She is frequently the "damsel" he attempts to save.
- Pop & Cub: Her interactions with Pop and his son Cub have been limited. She has been annoyed by Cub's antics on a plane and was once hit by Pop's car.
- Lifty & Shifty: As with most, the thieving raccoon brothers Lifty and Shifty are minor enemies to Giggles, often stealing from her.
- Lammy & Mr. Pickels: Giggles has played poker with Lammy, the purple sheep. Mr. Pickels, Lammy's pickle companion, has attempted to harm Giggles.
- Giggles' Mom: Giggles has a mother who appeared once, showing great love for her daughter, though she was comically oblivious to Giggles having been decapitated.
Common Fates & Experiences
Giggles' life is a delicate dance between sweet moments and sudden, often brutal, misfortune. She dies with alarming frequency, though she also has a surprisingly high number of survivals compared to some of her peers.
Her demises are varied and often involve:
- Decapitation (by banjos, tree branches, shovels, or even a shrinking sweater).
- Slicing (by wood, pendulums, metal, poker cards, or traffic signs).
- Impaling (on hearts, eyes, throats with icicles or arrows, or through the head with rose stems or pipes).
- Crushing (by masts, walls, elevators, or even being squashed like a soda can).
- Burning or heat-related deaths.
- Suffocation.
- Having her organs or brain damaged or removed.
- Being mauled by animals (Whistle the dog, killer ducks, piranha).
Her injuries, when not immediately fatal, are just as diverse:
- Having her face sliced off or skin ripped off.
- Broken bones.
- Severe burns (from lava or hot slides).
- Eardrums ruptured.
- Eyes damaged, stuck to ice, or impaled by various objects.
- Lips torn off.
- Being stung by jellyfish.
Despite this constant barrage of violence, Giggles always returns, her cheerful disposition largely intact, ready to face another day filled with both joy and peril.
Occupations & Roles Undertaken
Throughout her many adventures and misadventures, Giggles has taken on a surprising variety of roles and occupations:
- Girl Scout
- Lemonade Stand Co-Owner
- Waitress
- Environmentalist Leader
- Christmas Play Actress
- Genie
- Nurse
- Receptionist
- Explorer
- Carol Singer
- Student
- Swimmer
- Masseuse (in a dream)
These roles often place her directly in the path of danger, but she approaches each with her characteristic, if often short-lived, enthusiasm.
- #3Toothy
Keys: beaver, purple, lavender, big teeth, buckteeth, freckles, friendly, impulsive, emotional, crier, singer, admirer, loyal, accident-prone, placeholder, everyman, kind, playful, handyman, determined
Toothy: The Beaver with Big Teeth and a Bigger Heart
Appearance & Essence
Toothy is a distinctive light purple, sometimes mauve-colored, beaver, instantly recognizable by his most prominent feature: his very large, gapped buckteeth, which even lend him his name. These teeth are quite noticeable, though occasionally, in earlier times, they appeared more standard-sized. A scattering of charming freckles dusts his face. His tail and ears are a slightly deeper shade of purple.
He generally presents as a friendly and approachable individual, embodying an "everyman" persona. Toothy enjoys simple pleasures like playing with younger friends, snowball fights, monster movies, and bicycle riding. He also has a particular fondness for gardening and fireworks.
Personality & Tendencies
Toothy is a character of surprising emotional depth and variability. While generally friendly and good-natured, his personality can shift depending on the situation. He is known for being quite impulsive, often acting before fully thinking through the consequences of his actions. This can lead to him inadvertently causing chaos or harm, such as when he hastily threw a lit candle in a school play, leading to a fire.
A significant and recurring trait is his tendency to cry. Toothy is often seen weeping in distressing situations, highlighting a sensitive and emotional side. Conversely, he also seems to possess a love for singing, and others have acknowledged his vocal talents.
He is not typically considered dim-witted, though there have been instances where he's acted oddly or misinterpreted instructions, like using far too much gunpowder for a cannon. However, he's also shown to be quite handy, capable of building and repairing items like bicycles. He can also be stubborn, sometimes proceeding with a plan even when he knows it might be flawed, which often leads to unfortunate outcomes for himself and others.
One of Toothy's most defining characteristics is his immense admiration for the superhero Splendid. He idolizes Splendid to the point of dressing up as him for Halloween and getting very excited in his presence. This admiration persists despite Splendid's frequent, disastrous failures as a hero.
Due to his somewhat generic appearance, Toothy is sometimes seen as a 'placeholder' in unfolding events until a more specific character is decided upon. This doesn't diminish his role, however, as he often ends up playing a crucial part in whatever chaos ensues. There's a recognized need for his personality to be further developed, and recent events have shown him displaying more mischievousness and a stubborn determination.
Notable Relationships
Toothy is one of the central figures in his community and has interacted with almost everyone, generally maintaining friendly relations.
- Cuddles: Cuddles, the yellow rabbit, is Toothy's best friend. Their bond is strong and has been evident since their earliest appearances. They frequently engage in playful activities together, from teasing zoo animals to throwing snowballs and playing dress-up. Cuddles has been known to comfort Toothy when he's injured. Though they once had a brief but intense rivalry, they quickly forgave each other, showcasing the resilience of their friendship.
- Giggles: Giggles, the pink chipmunk, is another of Toothy's good friends. She has also comforted him when he was hurt, and they are often seen together, usually with Cuddles. He was noticeably upset when he believed Splendid had harmed Giggles. However, he has also shown a mischievous side by pelting her with snowballs, causing her pain.
- Lumpy: Toothy's relationship with Lumpy, the large blue moose, is complex and often swings between friendship and conflict. They are often seen together with Cuddles and Giggles. However, Lumpy has also deliberately harmed Toothy (like selling his body parts as toys) or inadvertently caused his demise through clumsiness. Toothy, in turn, has sometimes acted against Lumpy, such as throwing snowballs at him or, in one memorable instance after being decapitated, biting Lumpy's leg.
- Sniffles: Sniffles, the anteater, is one of Toothy's closest friends, often seen alongside Cuddles, forming a frequent trio. They build snowmen, visit each other's houses, and share laughs.
- Petunia: Toothy and Petunia, the blue skunk, are likely friends. They've built snowmen together, played hide-and-seek, and been on several trips. However, she has also been annoyed by his mischievous behavior when he's with Cuddles and Sniffles.
- Splendid: Toothy is a huge fan and admirer of Splendid, the flying squirrel superhero. He dresses up as Splendid, cheers for him, and attends his speeches. This admiration is largely one-sided, as Splendid's attempts to save Toothy (and others) often end in disaster for Toothy. However, Toothy has shown rare moments of anger towards Splendid when Giggles was harmed.
- Handy: Toothy and Handy, the orange beaver, are on decent terms. Handy has seemed impressed by Toothy's singing, and they've gone trick-or-treating together.
- Nutty: Their relationship is mixed. Toothy has acted as Nutty's dentist (with disastrous results for Nutty's jaw). However, he has also been a victim of Nutty's intense candy addiction, being kidnapped and killed in Nutty's pursuit of a jawbreaker.
- The Mole: Toothy has worked as a firefighter with The Mole and attended parties with him. He's also been annoyed by The Mole's slowness and understandably horrified when The Mole drove through his house.
- Pop and Cub: Toothy is on good terms with Pop and Cub. They've attended his yard sale, and Pop seemed to enjoy Toothy's singing. Cub, however, unintentionally killed Toothy as Cubtron.
- Flaky: Toothy and Flaky, the red porcupine, are friends. They've been on trips, acted in plays, and attended parties together.
- Russell: Toothy is friends with Russell, the sea otter pirate. They've played baseball and gone on cruises together.
- Lifty and Shifty: The thieving raccoon brothers have taken advantage of Toothy, stealing his pet tortoise. However, they've also attended dinner parties together, implying a complex, if not entirely friendly, relationship.
- Mime: Toothy and Mime, the purple deer, are friends. Mime has visited Toothy in the hospital and tried to entertain him, and they've worked together.
- Cro-Marmot: Toothy is friends with Cro-Marmot, the prehistoric marmot, and they've played dress-up and baseball together.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Toothy is friends with Flippy, the green bear, but like everyone, he is a frequent and often first victim of Flippy's violent alter ego, Fliqpy.
- Truffles: While direct interaction hasn't been seen, Toothy keeps a picture of Truffles in his locker alongside pictures of Cuddles and Giggles, suggesting a possible friendship.
Common Fates & Experiences
Life for Toothy is a perilous journey, marked by an astounding number of deaths and injuries, often involving his head and, very frequently, his eyes.
His demises are incredibly varied:
- Impaling (through the mouth by swings or rhino horns, by skis, or by movie projectors).
- Crushing (by meteorites, doors, chandeliers, or Lumpy's motorcycle).
- Slicing or shredding (by fans, cake cutters, wood chippers, or chattering teeth).
- Explosions (from setting a school on fire, biting Fliqpy's brain, or gas leaks).
- Having his neck snapped.
- His brain and/or eyes being pulled out or damaged (his most infamous death involved a lollipop and his eye socket).
- Being run over by vehicles.
- Having his circulatory system ripped out.
- Head cracked like an egg.
- Disintegration (by laser vision, speed backlash, or UV rays).
- Drowning.
- Being burned to ash or bone.
Despite this, he has managed to survive a handful of episodes, particularly in the TV series and some shorts. His injuries are just as gruesome and frequent:
- Eyes are a particular target: mutilated by lollipops, pecked by woodpeckers, stabbed by drink umbrellas, cut by paper airplanes, stung by bees, or ripped out.
- Teeth injuries, despite their prominence, are less common but do occur: teeth knocked out, chipped, or overgrown due to fertilizer and then snapped.
- Arms bitten off by snakes.
- Body inflation and popping.
- Being impaled through the anus.
- Facial skin burned or torn off.
Toothy's resilience in the face of such constant, horrific trauma is a hallmark of his existence in this unpredictable world.
Occupations & Roles Undertaken
Despite the chaos, Toothy has held a surprising number of jobs and roles:
- Dentist
- Christmas Play Actor
- Firefighter
- Circus Assistant
- Film Developer
- Delivery Boy
- Student
- Mailman
- Garage/Yard Salesman
- Toymaker
- Paperboy
- Carol Singer
- Office Worker
- Ambulance Driver
Each role seems to offer yet another opportunity for him to encounter bizarre and often fatal situations.

Lumpy is an unmistakable figure in this world, a towering light sky blue moose who stands significantly taller and skinnier than most of his companions. His most striking features, aside from his height, are his mismatched antlers – one typically pointing upwards and the other inexplicably drooping downwards. He possesses a standard nose with two nostrils (a rarity among the smaller Tree Friends who often have heart-shaped noses) and his eyes can sometimes appear a bit peculiar. His teeth, when visible, might appear on his nose or in his mouth. He's known to live in a rather trashy trailer and often drives a Lincoln Continental.
Originally, in what seems like a past life or an alternate form, Lumpy was a dinosaur, possibly a parody of a well-known children's character from another realm, and even then, he harbored a potentially murderous personality if provoked. This dinosaur form was even initially conceived as a bear, perhaps an early echo of Flippy.
He's often seen in various outfits depending on his current (and usually temporary) profession, but his default appearance is that of a simple, lanky blue moose. He lacks the mitten-esque hands of many smaller friends.
Personality & Tendencies
Lumpy is, to put it mildly, not the sharpest tool in the shed. His intelligence quotient is notably low, and this dim-wittedness is the primary engine for much of the chaos and tragedy that unfolds around him. He is phenomenally clumsy and possesses a distinct lack of common sense. Despite this, he is usually well-meaning, nearly always kind, and generally friendly. He often utters "Mmm-hmm!" when he believes he's solved a problem (however incorrectly) or when satisfied, and an "Ah-ha!" when a (usually flawed) idea strikes him.
While his disastrous actions are typically born of stupidity rather than malice, Lumpy has shown darker, more antagonistic traits on occasion. There have been instances where he has acted with greed, cruelty, and selfishness, such as stealing charity money or intentionally harming Toothy to sell his body parts for profit. His disregard for the environment, like dumping garbage into lakes, also highlights a selfish streak. He can also be rather bossy at times.
He has a strange fascination with talking to lettuce, and his favorite foods include cheese, sandwiches, and cheesecake. He enjoys playing the banjo or guitar, golf, fishing, and farming. Despite his towering height and often bumbling nature, he's sometimes portrayed as a babysitter or caretaker for the other, smaller Tree Friends, a responsibility for which he is spectacularly ill-suited. He also forms strong attachments to inanimate objects or pets, like his giant corn or his pet elephant.
Lumpy possesses surprising strength and durability, often surviving injuries that would instantly kill smaller characters, leading to his deaths often being drawn-out and particularly gruesome. He also has an odd habit of giving himself tracheotomies.
Interestingly, despite his overwhelming incompetence, there are rare moments when Lumpy displays surprising skill or makes a sound decision, usually to make him unpredictable. He has, for example, successfully performed surgeries (albeit with bizarre caveats), subdued giant squids, and even exorcised demons. He also seems to have a hidden talent for inventing.
He has spoken clear English more than any other character, sometimes even letting slip a curse word when faced with something particularly strange or disturbing.
Notable Relationships
Given his longevity and involvement in countless scenarios (often as the instigator of disaster), Lumpy has interacted with every single character, usually with chaotic results.
- Cuddles: Lumpy is generally a good friend to Cuddles. He's taken Cuddles to the park, played with him, and even baked him a birthday cake. However, Lumpy's ineptitude or occasional malice has also led to Cuddles' death numerous times. Cuddles is one of Lumpy's most frequent victims.
- Giggles: Their relationship is complex. They are often great friends, and Lumpy has even risked his life to save Giggles. However, Giggles often becomes angry with Lumpy for his destructive actions, especially towards the environment. Lumpy has also shown romantic interest in Giggles. She is also a frequent victim of his blunders.
- Toothy: Another of Lumpy's most frequent victims. While they are often friends, playing together and Lumpy even being impressed by Toothy's singing, Lumpy has also deliberately killed Toothy for profit and captured him. Toothy, in turn, has occasionally acted against Lumpy.
- Petunia: Lumpy and Petunia are often friends. He's attended her birthday, tried to save her from danger, and done her plumbing. However, he's also angered her with his driving and kept her prisoner as a giant. He has also shown romantic interest in Petunia.
- Handy: Their relationship is somewhat neutral. Lumpy has arrested Handy (mistakenly) and killed him as a giant. But they've also been co-workers and played in the same band.
- Nutty: Lumpy has a decent relationship with Nutty, having him as a scout and attempting to rescue him. He's also granted Nutty's wishes as a genie. However, Lumpy was also Nutty's doctor and became angry when Nutty's candy obsession interfered with a patient.
- Sniffles: Their relationship varies wildly. They can be friends, but their vastly different intelligence levels often lead to conflict. Lumpy's stupidity frequently frustrates or endangers Sniffles.
- Pop & Cub: Lumpy has a generally neutral to positive relationship with Pop, even enjoying snacks at his house. He's helped Pop with a demon-possessed Cub and mourned Cub's death. However, as a genie, he incorrectly granted Pop's wish, setting Cub on fire. Cub has also been a frequent victim of Lumpy's actions.
- Flaky: Lumpy and Flaky are often good friends. He's led groups she was in, cheered her up, and even nursed her back to health. However, he has also intentionally killed Flaky for puncturing a raft and as a giant.
- The Mole: Usually friends, they've worked together and Lumpy has even given The Mole a seeing-eye dog. However, Lumpy has also stolen from The Mole and mistakenly arrested him.
- Disco Bear: They don't interact much but are likely friends, having been police partners. Lumpy tried to find Disco Bear a new heart (a whale's) and granted his wish as a genie. However, Lumpy has also been frightened by Disco Bear and killed by him.
- Russell: They are often good friends, working together to escape a whale's belly, sharing treasure, and playing in a band. Lumpy has tried to save Russell from a kraken. Their only negative interaction involved Lumpy being frustrated over a copyright issue.
- Lifty & Shifty: Lumpy generally dislikes the thieving raccoon brothers, as they often try to steal from him. However, he has sometimes shown concern for them and even invited them to Christmas dinner. They are frequent victims of his large-scale disasters.
- Mime: Lumpy usually shows hostility towards Mime, being unimpressed by his tricks or yelling at him. However, he has also been entertained by Mime and saved him from danger. As a giant, Lumpy kept Mime as a prisoner.
- Cro-Marmot: They don't seem particularly fond of each other, having been rivals in a surfing competition where Lumpy mocked Cro-Marmot. However, Lumpy has also bought meat from him and been impressed by his guitar skills.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Lumpy sees Flippy as a friend but is terrified of Fliqpy and will kill him if necessary. Lumpy is one of the few who has managed to kill Fliqpy.
- Splendid: Lumpy seems to like Splendid and is grateful when Splendid "rescues" him (even if it costs Lumpy an arm). He has entrusted Splendid with tasks.
- Lammy & Mr. Pickels: Lumpy is not regularly on good terms with Lammy, having tazed her and intentionally killed her. He has also kidnapped and eaten Mr. Pickels off-screen.
- Truffles: Lumpy is one of the few to have interacted with Truffles, though not positively. He has hit Truffles with his truck and, as a vampire, sucked his blood and crushed him.
Common Fates & Experiences
Lumpy holds the grim distinction of having the series' highest kill count by a vast margin, usually due to his profound stupidity. He has caused the death of every other character at least once. Conversely, he also has one of the highest death counts himself.
His deaths are typically gruesome and drawn out due to his size and resilience:
- Explosions (gas leaks, various accidental detonations).
- Dismemberment or being sliced/cut in half (by Ferris wheels, laser vision, castle spires, film).
- Crushing (by helicopters, anvils, cement blocks, boilers, filing cabinets, shelves, safes).
- Being mauled or eaten by animals (dogs, bears, ducks, turtles, vultures, birds).
- Impaling (by harpoons, seesaw handles, telescopes, baby trees).
- Having his neck snapped or head otherwise destroyed.
- Falling from great heights.
- Being skinned (by sandstorms or The Mole).
- Electrocution.
- Vaporization.
His injuries are equally varied and horrific:
- Amputating his own limbs (legs with spoons/paperclips, arms during surgery).
- Getting his tongue caught in machinery or chopped off.
- Severe burns.
- Being bitten, often by the decapitated heads of his victims.
- Crushing his own body parts.
- Choking on food (especially doughnuts).
- Accidentally stabbing or cutting himself.
- Suffering allergic reactions.
- Having his antlers broken or removed.
Occupations & Careers
Lumpy is the undisputed "Jack of All Trades" (and master of none) in Happy Tree Friends, having held an astonishing array of over 50 different jobs. His ineptitude in these roles is almost always the catalyst for widespread disaster. The writers often give him jobs requiring skill, concentration, and finesse – qualities Lumpy spectacularly lacks.
Abridged list of his many professions: Race-car Driver, Carny, Butcher, Fisherman, Bus Driver, Skating Rink Worker, Farmer, School Play Director, Magician, Lumberjack, Convenience Store Clerk, Grave Digger, Ski Patroller, Amusement Park Owner, Truck Driver, Physician/Doctor/Surgeon, Sheriff/Police Officer, Animal Control, Construction Worker, Seaman, Plumber, Firefighter, Sanitation Engineer, Genie, Scoutmaster, Ship Captain, Woodchipper Operator, Ringmaster, Newspaper Editor, Lookout, Optometrist, Surfer, Mailman, Backup Guitarist, Psychiatrist, Priest/Exorcist, Toy Store Manager, Milkman (imagined), Carol Singer, Teacher, Street Sweeper, Motion Picture Projectionist, Doughnut Baker, Daredevil, Reporter, Santa Claus, Lifeguard, Gas Station Worker, Camp Counselor, Janitor, Fertilizer Delivery Truck Driver, and Train Conductor.
Each new job is simply a new stage for Lumpy's unique brand of well-intentioned, catastrophic incompetence.
- #5Petunia
Keys: skunk, blue, flower, air freshener, sweet-smelling, hygiene, cleanliness, OCD, mysophobia, neat freak, tea parties, dolls, cooking, skiing, distress, loyal, easily frustrated, mess
Petunia: The Skunk with a Passion for Purity
Appearance & Essence
Petunia is a lovely royal blue skunk, her fur sometimes appearing as a deeper navy blue. A signature sky-blue arrow marking graces her forehead, connecting to a triangle marking on the back of her head, and similar sky-blue lines adorn her long, fluffy tail. She is never seen without a cheerful pink flower atop her head and, quite distinctively, a pine-scented car air freshener or deodorizer worn like a necklace. This accessory speaks volumes about her core nature: she values smelling good and maintaining an environment of cleanliness. Her name and species might even be a playful nod to a certain sweet-smelling character from classic animations.
She enjoys activities often associated with sweetness and domesticity, such as playing with dolls and strollers, and is a frequent participant in tea parties, especially with her dearest friend, Giggles.
Personality & Tendencies
Petunia is, at heart, a sweet and friendly individual. Initially, her personality was quite similar to Giggles, full of cheer and affection. However, it became apparent that Petunia possesses a very strong, defining trait: an obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), specifically manifesting as mysophobia (a fear of germs and dirt) and an intense need for cleanliness and order. She is a "neat freak" of the highest order.
This OCD is not a casual preference; it's a powerful driving force in her life. She is known to take showers up to five times a day. If things around her are dirty, out of place, or contaminated, Petunia can quickly become distressed, starting to hyperventilate. This reaction isn't limited to her own home or person; any perceived uncleanliness can trigger her anxiety. She will go to extraordinary lengths to restore order and cleanliness. In one infamous instance, when covered in inescapable grime due to a plumbing failure, her distress escalated to the point where she frantically, and fatally, attempted to skin herself with a potato peeler in a desperate bid to be clean.
While generally kind, her OCD can make her easily bothered or frustrated by the messiness of others or chaotic situations. Oddly, there have been rare moments, usually under extreme duress like severe dehydration, where her OCD seemed to be momentarily suppressed.
Like her friend Giggles, Petunia has sometimes found herself in the role of a damsel in distress, requiring rescue. She is also a Girl Scout. A peculiar quirk is that when Petunia has had too much to drink, she develops an urgent need for the restroom.
Notable Relationships
Petunia is a social skunk and has formed many bonds, though her OCD can sometimes influence her interactions.
- Giggles: Giggles is Petunia's absolute best friend. They are incredibly close, frequently seen running a lemonade stand together, playing, exercising, or just hanging out. Their bond is a cornerstone of her social life.
- Handy: Handy, the orange beaver, is a significant romantic interest for Petunia. They've been seen on a "Tunnel of Love" ride and have officially dated. Handy even built her a treehouse in their early days.
- Mime: Mime, the purple deer, is another of Petunia's love interests. They've shared romantic moments and admired each other.
- Lumpy: Lumpy and Petunia are generally friends. She has invited him to her birthday, played his carnival game, and trusted him with plumbing (to disastrous results) and construction tasks. He has also attempted to save her on occasion. However, his inherent messiness and incompetence can clash with her need for order, and as a giant, he once kept her captive. She has also swooned over his surfing skills.
- Disco Bear: Petunia strongly dislikes Disco Bear, perhaps even more so than Giggles does. His constant flirting attempts greatly annoy her. Despite this, he somehow convinced her to go on a date once (which she clearly regretted), and she has shown concern for him when he suffered a heart attack.
- Cuddles: Despite appearing in many group scenarios together, Petunia and Cuddles have had very few direct, one-on-one interactions. She has served him food, indicating a generally amicable relationship, but was also annoyed by mischief he participated in.
- Toothy: Petunia and Toothy appear to be friends. They've built snowmen, played hide-and-seek, and she's played on a seesaw with him. However, she has also been annoyed by chaos Toothy was involved in that resulted in her getting messy.
- Flaky: Petunia and Flaky seem to be on good terms. They've played together, gone on trips, and attended poker games. The only slight friction has been Petunia showing mild annoyance when Flaky took too long in an airplane restroom.
- Sniffles: It's assumed Sniffles and Petunia are friends, as they've been on many trips together. She's been horrified by his demise and has tended to him as a nurse. However, his involvement in messy situations has also irked her.
- Cro-Marmot: Petunia, along with Giggles, developed a crush on Cro-Marmot after seeing his impressive surfing skills.
- Lifty & Shifty: Like most, Petunia dislikes the thieving raccoon twins. They have held her and Giggles hostage. Despite this, she was slated to share a Christmas dinner with them and go trick-or-treating in their group.
- Pop & Cub: Her main interaction with Pop was when she offered him Girl Scout cookies, only to be attacked by a demon. She has admired Pop and Cub's Christmas lights. Cub, as the giant Cubtron, killed her.
- The Mole: Her primary interaction with The Mole was at his carnival game. They've been in larger groups since.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Petunia and Flippy are friends, though not exceptionally close. She fears his evil side, Fliqpy, who has subjected her to horrific fates.
- Splendid: Splendid has attempted to rescue Petunia multiple times, usually with disastrous consequences for her. She may be a fan, as she seemed pleased when he helped Giggles and when he gave her a (painfully acquired) diamond.
- Lammy & Mr. Pickels: Petunia was the first to meet Lammy, and they had a tea party, though conflict arose when Petunia suspected Lammy of damaging her teddy bear. Lammy later invited Petunia for poker. Mr. Pickels appears to dislike Petunia and has been instrumental in her demise.
Common Fates & Experiences
Petunia's existence is fraught with peril, and her deaths are often cited as some of the most gruesome and memorable in the series. Her intense desire for cleanliness ironically often leads her into, or exacerbates, horrific situations.
Common ways Petunia meets her end include:
- Head trauma/destruction: Head cut in half, crushed by signs or popcorn, brains popped like popcorn.
- Explosions: Various accidental and intentional detonations.
- Burning: Being set ablaze, face burned on a grill, burned to a skeleton.
- Crushing: Flattened by Cro-Marmot, squashed by chandeliers or giant popcorn.
- Kitchen hardware related deaths: Face pressed to a grill, sucked through sink drains, torn apart by garbage disposals.
- Impaling: On gear levers, by mattress springs, by ski sticks, by arrows.
- Being eaten or digested alive.
- Slicing/Dismemberment: Often in uniquely terrible ways.
- The infamous potato peeler incident: Skinning herself to death in a fit of OCD-driven madness.
Her injuries are equally severe:
- Being set on fire.
- Falling from heights.
- Having her body impaled on spikes.
- Losing hands or other body parts.
- Face rammed through glass.
- Shot in the eye with tranquilizers.
- Severe reactions to dirt or grime, leading to desperate and harmful cleaning attempts.
- Lips torn off.
- Skin and tail ripped from her body.
Despite her frequent and often horrific demises, Petunia always returns, her commitment to cleanliness tragically undiminished. She has a slightly better survival rate in the TV series episodes compared to the earlier internet shorts.
Occupations & Roles Undertaken
Petunia has taken on several roles, often related to service or domesticity, which unfortunately provide ample opportunity for her OCD to be triggered or for disaster to strike.
- Fry Cook
- Lemonade Stand Co-Owner
- Lighting Store Owner
- Gold-Spinner Slave Princess (under duress)
- Waitress
- Fairground Kiosk Owner
- Girl Scout
- Papergirl
- Student
- Nurse
Each role, no matter how mundane, seems to be a potential death trap for this sweet-smelling, yet tragically fated, skunk.
- #6Handy
Keys: beaver, orange, amputee, no hands, bandages, tool belt, hard hat, builder, carpenter, frustrated, short-tempered, apathetic, caring, resourceful, skilled, pilot, drummer, epilepsy, determined, unlucky
Handy: The Armless Beaver with Unstoppable Ambition
Appearance & Essence
Handy is a distinctive orange beaver, immediately recognizable by the fact that both of his arms are amputated at the stumps, which are perpetually covered with bandages. Despite this significant disability, he is rarely seen without his trusty tool belt, typically holding a hammer and a screwdriver, and a yellow hard hat, the standard attire of a dedicated construction worker. His fur is a neon carrot orange, sometimes appearing as a more subdued orange.
He is a beaver of action and industry. Though the origin of his armlessness is unknown, it's widely assumed to be the result of a work-related accident. This hasn't dampened his passion for building and fixing things. His home is often depicted as being filled with tools that, ironically, are mostly designed for hand operation.
Personality & Tendencies
Handy is a testament to determination, or perhaps stubbornness. Despite his lack of hands, he is remarkably capable of constructing impressive structures, from treehouses to entire homes. These feats are usually accomplished off-screen, adding an element of mystery to his methods. When he successfully completes a project, especially for female characters like Petunia or Giggles, they are often immensely pleased, sometimes thanking him with a hug.
A prominent and recurring gag revolves around Handy consistently forgetting his lack of hands. He will instinctively try to perform tasks that require them – grabbing a hose, pushing a button, opening a door, or catching someone – only to be met with the reality of his stumps. This invariably leads to a moment of visible frustration, often punctuated by an annoyed grunt and a scowl directed at unseen forces or perhaps the unfairness of his situation.
While he can achieve incredible things, when he is forced to find a compromise for a task due to his missing hands, it often leads to disastrous, and frequently fatal, consequences for himself and occasionally others.
Handy possesses a notably short temper and is easily agitated, irritated, or angered by the actions of his fellow Tree Friends. He often seems to feel little shock or remorse when witnessing the gruesome deaths or injuries of others, with Petunia and The Mole being notable exceptions for whom he shows concern. In some shocking instances, he has even been seen laughing at the demise of his acquaintances.
A significant vulnerability is his photosensitive epilepsy. Flashing lights can trigger seizures, causing his eyes to move uncontrollably, his body to convulse, and foaming at the mouth. In the later series, Handy developed a keen interest in flying aircraft, often remaining airborne from his first appearance in an episode until his eventual, usually violent, death.
Armless Accomplishments & Frustrating Attempts
Handy's existence is a paradox of incredible capability and frustrating limitation:
He often attempts tasks requiring hands, only to remember his disability:
- Trying to grab objects (hoses, bottles, keys, lightbulbs, tomatoes, pacifiers).
- Attempting to push buttons or turn knobs.
- Trying to open doors.
- Getting frustrated when his handless directions are misunderstood.
- Reacting with anger when offered a foam finger he cannot wear.
- Instinctively trying to catch falling individuals.
Yet, he has achieved remarkable feats without hands:
- Driving and piloting numerous vehicles (cars, helicopters, airplanes).
- Building complex structures like treehouses and entire houses.
- Assembling his own race car.
- Bowling with surprising accuracy.
- Participating in Flaky's demise.
- Changing a car tire.
- Crawling to a burning school despite also missing his legs in that instance (and even holding hands with others, a possible oversight).
- Winning a ring toss game.
- Shoveling his entire driveway clear of snow.
- Climbing out of a well (with The Mole).
- Pushing a button with his head to stop a giant saw.
- Pouring his own block of wet cement.
- Controlling a helicopter and its payload without touching the controls.
- Setting up a banner for a supermarket opening.
- Growing a large tomato (though he dropped it).
- Winning a "test your strength" game.
- Painting road lines.
- Setting a pot on a stove, placing a baby bottle inside, placing Cub in his crib, giving him milk, and setting up a fan – all while babysitting.
- Closing a bathroom stall door.
Notable Relationships
Handy's interactions are often colored by his practicality and his short fuse.
- Petunia: Petunia, the blue skunk, is Handy's primary love interest. They have had a confirmed romantic relationship, going on dates and sharing affectionate moments. He built her a treehouse, and he is one of the few characters whose death seems to genuinely affect him.
- The Mole: Handy appears to have a good and somewhat protective relationship with The Mole. He has mourned The Mole's death and they often work together, forming two-thirds of the "No hands, no eyes, and no brain" trio (with Lumpy). He seems to show genuine empathy for The Mole's blindness.
- Cuddles: They are friends most of the time, with Handy hiring Cuddles for construction and them playing in a band together. However, Handy has also mockingly laughed at Cuddles' misfortunes (like losing his hands) but has also shown distress at Cuddles' suffering and tried to save him.
- Giggles: Handy and Giggles get along well, though their relationship is platonic. Giggles has hugged Handy in gratitude for his building projects, and Handy has comforted Giggles during times of loss.
- Lumpy: Their relationship is neutral but often involves them working together, being in a band, or Handy fixing Lumpy's car. Lumpy has also arrested Handy. Handy had no issue throwing Lumpy out of a crashing rocket.
- Toothy: They seem to be on decent terms, with Handy being impressed by Toothy's singing. However, Handy also accidentally killed Toothy with his truck.
- Nutty: Generally, they are not on good terms. Handy shows no concern for Nutty's deaths and is annoyed by Nutty's antics. However, he has also been seen smilingly pointing Nutty towards a cinema.
- Sniffles: They can be considered friends, working together to survive on an island and playing in the same band. Sniffles has tried to save Handy during a seizure.
- Pop & Cub: Handy has babysat Cub for Pop, a task fraught with peril for Handy. Pop, in turn, carelessly killed Handy and seemed oblivious. Pop has also been frustrated by Handy's inability to give clear directions without hands.
- Flaky: Their relationship is neutral. They've ridden in a car together. However, Handy also participated in a group effort to kill Flaky when she punctured their raft.
- Disco Bear: Their only notable interaction involved road rage, with Disco Bear yelling at Handy, and Handy trying to yell back.
- Russell: They may be friends, having been in Lumpy's band together. However, Handy showed no concern when Russell was killed.
- Lifty & Shifty: Like most, Handy is a target for the thieving twins. They've been rivals in a race and the twins have stolen his car. Yet, they've also worked together for survival. Handy has also killed the twins.
- Mime: Their closest interaction was working together to repair Giggles' house.
- Cro-Marmot: Handy seemed to enjoy Cro-Marmot's guitar playing during an audition.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Handy and Flippy are friends, though Flippy once offended Handy by offering him a foam finger prize. Handy is likely enemies with Fliqpy, who has severed Handy's legs.
- Splendid: Handy can be considered a fan, attending Splendid's speeches.
Common Fates & Experiences
Handy rarely survives the episodes he appears in. His lack of hands often puts him in uniquely vulnerable positions or leads to him making fatal choices when trying to compensate.
His deaths frequently involve:
- Machinery/Vehicles: Crushed by cars, shredded by helicopter propellers, dying in plane crashes.
- Being cut in half: Often by engine lids or glass shards.
- Head trauma: Head cut in half, bashed by concrete, pierced by nails, mowed by The Mole, or cut by cymbals.
- Drowning: Such as in a fishbowl.
- Disintegration: By Splendid's heat vision.
- Suffocation: Due to gas leaks or being buried in concrete.
- Impaling: By Flaky's quills or arrows.
His injuries are equally brutal:
- Permanent loss of hands (prior to his first appearance).
- Loss of feet.
- Eyes damaged or lost.
- Being burned.
- Having his lower half ripped off or organs forced out.
- Body parts shredded or worn down to the bone.
- Suffering seizures.
- Face swollen from explosions.
Occupations & Careers
Despite his physical limitations, Handy is a beaver of many trades, often involving construction or mechanics.
- Architect / Builder
- Race-car Driver
- Student
- Auto Repairman
- Construction Worker (general and underground)
- Emergency Rescue Squad Member / Pilot
- Banner Setter-upper
- Driving Instructor
- Drummer
- Lumberjack
- Road-Line Painter
- Nanny
- Train Track Construction Worker
Each job is another opportunity for Handy to demonstrate his surprising capabilities, his profound frustrations, and his almost inevitable gruesome end.
- #7Nutty
Keys: squirrel, green, lime, candy, sugar, sweets, lollipop, candy cane, googly eye, lazy eye, hyperactive, jittery, giggling, addictive personality, obsessive, cavities, insane, irate, common sense, determined · Secondary:
Nutty: The Hyperactive, Candy-Obsessed Squirrel
Appearance & Essence
Nutty is an energetic, lime-green squirrel, instantly recognizable by the array of confectionery perpetually stuck to his fur – typically a large swirly lollipop, a candy cane, a small all-day sucker, and a candy apple. These aren't just accessories; he treats them like clothing, though he has been known to eat them outright in moments of extreme craving. His fur is a chartreuse/lime color, with a darker lime green, large, curled-up tail that twitches and moves when he's excited. Canary yellow markings adorn his head (a diamond shape), belly, and soles.
One of his most distinctive facial features is his googly eye, which appears to be a form of amblyopia (lazy eye). It usually looks downwards and tends to drift or bounce when he jitters, though he can sometimes control it when intensely focused on something – usually candy. This eye, along with his candy accoutrements, has been known to inexplicably switch sides on occasion.
Personality & Tendencies
Nutty's entire existence revolves around one thing: SUGAR. He has an extreme, all-consuming addiction to candy and anything sweet. This addiction fuels his perpetually hyperactive and jittery state. He giggles far more often than he speaks, and this giggling can persist even as he's meeting a gruesome end. The smallest taste of sugar can send him into a "Tasmanian Devil"-like spinning frenzy.
When deprived of sugar, Nutty can become momentarily sad and has even been seen foaming at the mouth. Prolonged absence of candy can drive him to outright insanity. He demonstrates a classic addictive personality; if one addiction is somehow curbed (like his candy addiction briefly was for video games), he immediately latches onto a new one. He values sugar above all else, including his own safety and the well-being of others, often stuffing himself with sweets to the point of near death. His dental hygiene is, unsurprisingly, atrocious – he's said to have fourteen cavities and has been seen brushing his teeth with a lollipop and sugar, using soda as mouthwash.
Nutty will go to any lengths to obtain his sugary fix, often displaying a shocking lack of common sense and a willingness to hurt or endanger himself and those around him. If he doesn't get what he wants, he can become extremely irate. He has been known to mistake inedible objects for candy (like cement mix for sugar or parts of other characters for candy canes), though he will also consume regular food if it's drenched in syrup or sugar.
While his obsession often makes him appear foolish, Nutty isn't entirely devoid of intelligence. He has been seen capably playing checkers. However, his candy addiction nearly always overrides any rational thought. Recently, there have been periods where he has shown more control over his addiction and a calmer demeanor, but these moments are often fleeting, and he tends to revert to his jittery, candy-crazed self, readily stealing and causing chaos in pursuit of sweets. It's also suggested he might suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as he's easily distracted by colorful objects he mistakes for candy.
Notable Relationships
Nutty's overwhelming obsession with candy heavily dictates his interactions, often making him unpopular despite his generally cheerful (if hyper) disposition.
- Cuddles: Nutty doesn't seem to think much of Cuddles beyond him being a potential source of, or obstacle to, candy. He's stalked Cuddles for ice cream and hijacked his car. On rare occasions, they've been civil, and Nutty is even subscribed to Cuddles on YouTube.
- Giggles: Giggles, like most, dislikes Nutty. They rarely interact directly. They once lived together in poverty (relationship unclear – siblings or couple), and Giggles was annoyed when Nutty traded their cow for a few jellybeans.
- Toothy: Toothy is generally one of Nutty's friends, but Nutty's candy addiction strains this. Nutty has kidnapped an unconscious Toothy to get a jawbreaker and showed no concern for his well-being. However, Nutty once went to Toothy (as a dentist) for help with a cavity, implying some trust.
- Lumpy: Their relationship is neutral but ultimately friendly, though Nutty often takes advantage of Lumpy's own stupidity to get candy. He's also imagined killing Lumpy over chocolates. On the other hand, they've played milk pong, gone on trips, and Lumpy (as a genie) granted Nutty's wish for a giant lollipop.
- Petunia: They've had few interactions. Nutty was annoyed by her moaning when they were lost. He also accidentally killed her in a hit-and-run, showing initial shock before being distracted by her Tetris-shaped internal organs.
- Handy: Handy generally doesn't care for Nutty, showing no concern when Nutty is killed and being annoyed by him. Nutty, however, has waved thankfully at Handy and was horrified when Handy was killed by his helicopter.
- Sniffles: Despite being polar opposites (Nutty's chaos vs. Sniffles' intellect), they surprisingly seem to get along well. Nutty sometimes even manages to control his sugar addiction when Sniffles is around. They've been seen playing together.
- Pop & Cub: Nutty is not friends with Pop or Cub. He callously stole a lollipop from Cub, ignoring Cub's crying, which caused Pop to panic and confront Nutty.
- Flaky: Flaky is one of Nutty's friends, but she resents his behavior at times. She's slapped his hand away from chocolate and been shoved aside by Nutty when he chose sweets over helping her during an allergic reaction. They have also worked together in a supermarket.
- The Mole: They interact occasionally, usually in medical contexts (The Mole treating Nutty or taking his blood). The Mole once gave Nutty his surfboard. Nutty also unintentionally killed The Mole with a mallet.
- Disco Bear: Disco Bear is one of the few who doesn't seem to dislike Nutty. They've worked together. However, Nutty once ate Disco Bear's cotton candy afro, horrifying him.
- Russell: Their main interaction was standing happily next to each other with Handy.
- Lifty & Shifty: Nutty is often too oblivious or trusting with the thieving raccoons due to his candy obsession. He's been tricked by them into bad trades (cow for beans) but has also willingly bought candy (and later video games) from them. He has also been intimidated by them when they wanted his ice cream.
- Mime: Their interactions are minimal, usually Nutty buying something from Mime's store or being in the same group. Nutty did get worried when Mime was antagonizing Flippy.
- Cro-Marmot: Nutty's interactions with Cro-Marmot are solely driven by Cro-Marmot's role as an ice cream truck driver.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Nutty was preoccupied with eating during Flippy's birthday. He seems aware of Flippy's evil side (Fliqpy) and fears him, attempting to leave when Mime was provoking Flippy.
- Splendid: Like many, Nutty is a fan of Splendid. He attended Splendid's speech and was uniquely unaffected (even seemed to enjoy) the painful soundwaves Splendid produced.
- Lammy: Nutty has been seen playing in a playground with Lammy and Sniffles, suggesting a potential friendship.
Common Fates & Experiences
Nutty's life is a frantic dash for sugar, usually ending in a sticky, gruesome demise. His deaths are often a direct consequence of his reckless pursuit of sweets.
Common ways Nutty meets his end include:
- Mouth-related injuries (choking, head exploding from forced intake).
- Impaling (on vending machine coils, ring toss poles, pipes, sprinklers, spiked speed bumps, candy canes, traffic lights).
- Being crushed (by vending machines, automatic doors, cars, chandeliers).
- Being sliced or shredded (by glass shards, kite strings, pencil sharpeners).
- Breathing problems/suffocation (from balloons, carbon monoxide, lack of air).
- Explosions (from yo-yos, truck crashes, fireworks).
- Being mauled by animals.
- Having his brain fried (literally, on hot ground).
His injuries are just as candy-coated and painful:
- Jaw broken or torn off (repeatedly).
- Limbs torn off.
- Glass shards embedded in his face.
- Body bloating from overconsumption.
- Eyes burned or otherwise damaged.
- Tail cut off.
- Being impaled but surviving (initially).
Occupations & Careers
Nutty is not known for holding down steady jobs, as his candy addiction usually takes precedence over any professional responsibilities. However, he has been seen in a few roles:
- Christmas Play Actor
- Grocer (working with Flaky and Disco Bear)
- Park Lawn Mower
- Auditioning Musician
- Student
These roles are invariably compromised or cut short by his overwhelming need for sugar.
- #8Sniffles
Keys: anteater, blue, glasses, pocket protector, intelligent, inventor, science, math, ants, Star Trek fan, nerdy, high IQ, lacks common sense, victim of own inventions, loyal friend, determined, curious, problem-solver, resilient
Sniffles: The Genius Anteater with a Penchant for Perilous Inventions
Keywords: anteater, blue, glasses, pocket protector, intelligent, inventor, science, math, ants (arch-enemies), Star Trek fan, nerdy, high IQ, (sometimes) lacks common sense, (often) victim of own inventions, loyal friend, determined, curious, problem-solver, resilient (despite frequent, gruesome deaths)
Appearance & Essence
Sniffles is an anthropomorphic, baby-blue anteater, immediately distinguishable by his intellectual aura. He sports a pair of glasses, often taped at the bridge, and a pocket protector brimming with three pens, even though he wears no other clothing. His most defining facial feature is his long, trunk-like snout, which combines his mouth and nose, with his lips at the very tip. This snout was longer in his earlier days but has since become shorter and straighter, adding a touch of cuteness to his nerdy appearance. Like Cuddles, his light sky-blue ears sometimes move to reflect his emotions. He's the second character noted to lack the common heart-shaped nose.
He is a creature of science and intellect, deeply interested in reading, mathematics, and, most notably, inventing. He is also a known admirer of Star Trek, sometimes seen dressed as Spock. Despite his vast intelligence, he harbors a natural, instinctual craving for ants.
Personality & Tendencies
Sniffles is undoubtedly one of the most intelligent, if not the most intelligent, character in this vibrant yet dangerous world. His IQ is demonstrably high, and he is capable of creating incredibly advanced inventions, from rockets fashioned out of school buses to functioning time machines. He often exclaims "Ah Ha!" when an idea for a new invention strikes him. His home often resembles a laboratory. He has a few allergies and reportedly enjoys calculating long division problems.
However, his genius is often undermined by a lack of common sense or poor planning. His brilliant inventions frequently malfunction or are used against him, leading to his own demise and often the deaths of those around him. This unfortunate tendency is a primary reason for his surprisingly high kill count.
A defining and often tragic aspect of Sniffles' existence is his arch-nemesis relationship with a particular family of Ants. Driven by his anteater instincts, he relentlessly tries to eat them. However, the Ants are cunning and incredibly sadistic, almost always managing to turn Sniffles' attempts against him, subjecting him to prolonged and horrific torture before ultimately killing him. Tongue in Cheek is often cited as one of his most brutal and lengthy demises at their tiny hands, an ordeal that brought him to tears.
Despite his frequent and often gruesome deaths, Sniffles is a character who is featured more and more often. He idolizes figures like Albert Einstein and Splendid. While generally a caring friend, there have been moments where Sniffles has appeared oddly unaffected by the suffering or deaths of others, though he has also shown genuine concern and horror, making his emotional responses somewhat debatable at times.
Inventions & Intellect
Sniffles' mind is a fountain of scientific marvels, though these marvels often become instruments of his own suffering. His creations are a testament to his genius, often bordering on science fiction:
- Rocket: Built from a school bus and a tree, capable of reaching the sun (though lacking control).
- Suction Machine: Designed to suck ants, but reversed to suck Sniffles inside out.
- Jetpack: So powerful it ripped his arms off.
- Giant Magnet: Attracted various metal objects, leading to his impalement.
- Growth Formula: Caused his stomach to grow to an enormous, fatal size.
- Time Machine: Constructed from a washing machine, leading to multiple timeline deaths and inadvertently starting the ant-anteater rivalry.
- Radioactive Carrot: A large, glowing entry in a fair.
- Ant Robot & Mind Control Device: An attempt to infiltrate the ants' home, which was reprogrammed by the ants to control and torture Sniffles.
- Shrinking Submarine: Intended to cure Giggles, but ended up in Lumpy and led to multiple deaths, including Sniffles being sliced in half.
- The Drill: A poorly designed digging machine that caused several deaths.
- Mechanical Paper Airplane: A remote-controlled metal plane with sharp edges.
- Blob Creature: An acidic, pet-like creature born from a chemistry experiment.
- Slingshot Machine: A crank-operated, multi-rock launching slingshot.
- Dream Helmet: Connected to a TV, turned his dreams into nightmares when Lumpy changed the channel.
His inventions highlight a recurring theme: brilliant conception, flawed execution, and disastrous consequences.
Notable Relationships
Sniffles is generally a friendly character, forming bonds with most of the other Tree Friends, though his interactions are often colored by his inventions or his ant-feud.
- The Ants: His arch-enemies. A relentless cycle of Sniffles attempting to eat them, and the Ants responding with elaborate, sadistic torture and death. The rivalry was apparently started by Sniffles himself during a trip to prehistoric times.
- Toothy: One of Sniffles' closest friends. They frequently appear together, building snowmen, working as firefighters, or playing with inventions. Cuddles often joins them, forming a trio.
- Giggles: Sniffles is a great and caring friend to Giggles. He has tried to cure her with his inventions (like the shrinking submarine), volunteered to help her with environmental efforts, and gone on adventures with her.
- Lumpy: Their relationship is a mixed bag of "frenemies" due to their opposing intellects. They often appear together, sometimes as friends working on projects, but Lumpy's stupidity often frustrates Sniffles or leads to Sniffles' demise.
- Nutty: Despite their different personalities, Nutty and Sniffles are best friends. Nutty's candy obsession rarely impacts Sniffles negatively when they are together, and Sniffles has even temporarily cured Nutty of his addiction.
- Cuddles: Considered friends, though they interact less frequently than Sniffles does with Toothy. They've been seen playing together, but Cuddles' antics have also angered Sniffles, especially when they led to Handy's death.
- Handy: They are friends, having gone bowling together, escaped a deserted island, and played in a band. Sniffles has shown concern for Handy during a seizure.
- Flaky: A good friend of Sniffles. They've been on trips, carnival rides, and expeditions together. However, Sniffles did kill Flaky once for popping their escape raft.
- The Mole: They've interacted quite a bit, working together or bowling. Sniffles has mourned The Mole's death but also shown indifference at other times. The Mole's blindness has also inadvertently harmed Sniffles.
- Splendid: Sniffles is a big fan of Splendid, owning his merchandise and seeking his autograph, despite Splendid's heroic efforts often having disastrous consequences.
- Petunia: Assumed to be friends, they've been on trips together, and Sniffles has mourned her death. Petunia has also acted as his nurse.
- Pop: Their relationship soured when Pop interfered with Sniffles' attempt to "rescue" Cub with a drill machine. However, they have also worked together.
- Lifty & Shifty: The raccoon twins once helped Sniffles escape an island but later ripped off his arms to steal a lamp.
- Russell, Mime, Disco Bear, Cro-Marmot, Flippy/Fliqpy, Lammy: Sniffles has had various neutral to friendly interactions with these characters, often as part of larger groups or specific scenarios like band auditions or attending parties. He dreads Fliqpy like everyone else.
Common Fates & Experiences
Sniffles' existence is one of frequent, inventive, and often incredibly painful deaths. His demises are usually slower and more gruesome than many others.
Common ways Sniffles meets his end:
- His own inventions: A vast majority of his deaths are directly caused by his creations backfiring.
- The Ants: His most consistent killers, employing prolonged and sadistic torture.
- Tongue-related trauma: His long snout and tongue are often targets for horrific injuries – being nailed, shredded, burned, or used to pull out his organs.
- Head/Torso Mutilation: Explosions, crushing, slicing, or having organs ripped out.
- Crushing: By rockets, treadmills, giant novelty glasses, or rubble.
- Slicing/Cutting Apart: By glass shards, tray carts, elevator doors, or pavement.
- Impaling: By skis or other sharp objects.
His injuries are equally diverse and agonizing, often involving his tongue, eyes, or being dismembered. Despite the regularity of these horrific experiences, Sniffles rarely survives the episodes he appears in.
Occupations & Roles Undertaken
Reflecting his intelligence and varied interests, Sniffles has taken on numerous roles:
- Scientist/Inventor (his primary "occupation")
- Fitness Assistant
- Physician/Doctor
- Environmental Volunteer
- Newspaper Camera Repairman
- Lead Explorer
- Plant Breeder
- Christmas Play Actor
- Pilot
- Cotton Candy Vendor
- Music Background Maintenance Worker
- Rehab Worker
- Mailman
- Student
- School Play Actor
Each role provides a new avenue for his intellect to shine, and often, for disaster to strike.

Keys: bear, brown, father, pipe-smoking, bathrobe, hat, clueless, loving, inattentive, negligent, dangerous, widower, protective, impatient, barbecue, bowling, Tetris
Pop: The Well-Meaning but Woefully Inept Father Bear
Keywords: bear, brown, father, pipe-smoking, bathrobe (sometimes), hat, clueless, loving (father), inattentive, negligent, (unintentionally) dangerous, widower, protective (sometimes), impatient, barbecue, bowling, Tetris
Appearance & Essence
Pop is an adult bear of light sandy brown fur, often seen sporting a classic, somewhat old-fashioned fatherly look. This includes frequently wearing a bathrobe and smoking a pipe, though he's also seen without these specific accessories. He almost always wears a hat. He is the father of a small bear cub named, appropriately, Cub. It is known that Pop is a widower, his wife having passed away at some point in the past, a loss he has been seen mourning.
He embodies the archetype of a well-meaning but often spectacularly clueless and irresponsible parent. His primary focus is, naturally, on his son, Cub, though his methods of parenting leave a great deal to be desired and frequently result in disaster.
Personality & Tendencies
At his core, Pop genuinely loves his son, Cub. This paternal affection is evident, even if his actions often lead to Cub's severe injury or demise. The primary issue with Pop's parenting is a profound lack of awareness, general dim-wittedness, and a tendency towards inattention. He often fails to notice the immediate dangers his son is in, or his attempts to "help" or "fix" a situation inadvertently make things catastrophically worse.
In earlier days, Pop was remarkably oblivious to Cub's frequent deaths. More recently, he has become more aware of these tragic outcomes, often reacting with distress, though his ability to prevent them remains severely lacking. He's not particularly bright, as demonstrated by disabling a life-saving smoke detector because it was noisy, leading to a fatal outcome for both him and Cub. When he does try to intervene or save Cub, his efforts are usually clumsy and result in Cub being harmed further.
Pop is one of the few characters who can speak with some clarity, occasionally uttering almost intelligible words and even reading stories to Cub. Despite his deep love for his son, Pop can also be surprisingly neglectful, leaving Cub unattended in dangerous situations or with hazardous objects. He can be impatient, and this impatience, especially when Cub is in danger, often causes him to rush and make poor decisions, escalating the peril.
He has a few known interests, including smoking his pipe, barbecues, playing Tetris, and bowling. Due to his focus on Cub, Pop rarely interacted extensively with other adult characters in the past, but he has started to socialize more in recent times. He can be somewhat over-protective when it comes to Cub interacting with others, perhaps due to the general lack of other young children in their immediate environment.
Notable Relationships
Pop's world revolves almost entirely around his son, but he has had interactions, often strained or minimal, with others:
- Cub: This is Pop's most significant and defining relationship. Pop loves Cub dearly, and Cub, despite the constant (and often fatal) mistreatment, is generally forgiving and loving towards his father. Cub often looks up to Pop as a role model, imitating his behavior. However, Pop's ignorance and incompetence are the direct cause of Cub's countless injuries and deaths. Pop has unintentionally killed Cub numerous times and, on one occasion, killed him intentionally when Cub was possessed by a demon (though Pop acted after the demon was already exorcised). Despite this horrific track record, Pop often tries to make amends, offering treats or comfort after an accident, and has been seen genuinely mourning Cub's (many) demises. Pop's recognition of his own son sometimes seems solely based on Cub's distinctive beanie.
- Lumpy: Pop and Lumpy have a generally positive, if sometimes strained, relationship. Pop has asked Lumpy for help with Cub (such as an exorcism), and they have been seen enjoying leisure time together. Lumpy has also, in his own bumbling way, tried to assist Pop.
- Toothy: Pop seems to be on good terms with Toothy. He and Cub have attended Toothy's yard sale and appeared to enjoy Toothy's singing.
- Petunia: Their interactions are limited. Petunia once tried to sell Pop cookies, and they've been seen holding hands during a school play, suggesting a friendly acquaintance.
- Handy: Their relationship is neutral. Pop once failed to understand Handy's directions, leading to Handy's annoyance. However, Pop has also hired Handy as a babysitter for Cub, a decision of questionable wisdom.
- Nutty: Pop likely dislikes Nutty. After Nutty stole Cub's lollipop, Pop aggressively tried to retrieve it, showing an uncharacteristic hostility.
- Sniffles: Their interactions have been tense. Pop has aggressively demanded Sniffles' help in saving Cub and has shown disgust rather than horror at Sniffles' deaths. However, they have also worked together on an environmental cleanup.
- The Mole: Pop and The Mole are neutral towards each other. Pop has enlisted The Mole's help in rescuing Cub and they have worked together as part of a cleaning crew.
- Disco Bear: Pop was initially disturbed by Disco Bear's near-nudity but later became friends with him, enjoying snacks and television together.
- Splendid: Pop is generally not fond of Splendid, often being annoyed by the superhero's disruptive presence. However, he has tolerated Splendid interviewing him (likely not recognizing him in disguise) and has even taken Cub to hear Splendid speak.
- Cuddles & Flaky: His interactions with Cuddles and Flaky have been minimal and usually accidental, such as nearly running them over with his car.
- Giggles: Pop was once hired by Giggles to clean a lake. He also did nothing while Cub annoyed Giggles on a plane.
- Mime: Pop likely dislikes Mime, especially after Mime's actions in a restaurant. He also unintentionally killed Mime in one incident.
- Russell: Pop has watched Russell's play and tried to order food from his drive-thru, but they haven't had significant direct interactions.
- Lifty & Shifty: Pop is likely enemies with the thieving duo, having witnessed them run Cub over and acting suspiciously.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Pop probably views Fliqpy as an enemy. He celebrated with Lumpy and Disco Bear after Fliqpy was (seemingly) dealt with and was later killed by a tricycle possessed by Fliqpy.
- Cro-Marmot: Pop has bought ice cream from Cro-Marmot's truck for Cub on multiple occasions.
- Truffles: Pop may be friends with Truffles, as Truffles once went to get a present from Pop when he was dressed as Santa.
Common Fates & Experiences
Pop, while not dying as frequently as his son or some other characters, is certainly not immune to the pervasive lethality of their world. When he does meet his end, it's often through:
- Fire and explosions (barbecues, house fires, truck explosions, carbon monoxide poisoning).
- Impaling (by kebabs, rocket tips, glass shards, plunger handles).
- Crushing (by collapsing buildings, giant popcorn, or even his own son as a giant robot).
- Being sliced by helicopter rotors.
- Electrocution.
His injuries often involve:
- Being hit by cars.
- Burns.
- Falls.
- Attacks by animals (like Whistle).
- Having his eardrums burst by loud noises.
The most common and tragic fate associated with Pop is being the direct or indirect cause of his son Cub's myriad deaths and injuries.
Occupations & Careers
Pop's primary and all-consuming role is that of a Full-Time Father. Beyond this, his occupations are few and far between, often related to his parenting duties or brief community involvement:
- Environmental Volunteer
- Mall Santa
- Unknown Office Worker
- Bowler
His disastrous attempts at parenting far overshadow any professional endeavors.
- #10Cub
Keys: bear cub, young, small, light brown, beanie, propeller, diaper, innocent, cute, playful, curious, toys, sweets, lollipops, dandelions, accident-prone, resilient, forgiving, oblivious to danger, drools, coos
Cub: The Eternally Innocent (and Imperiled) Bear Cub
Appearance & Essence
Cub is an unmistakably young bear cub, the smallest and arguably most adorable of the Tree Friends. His fur is a light sandy brown, and his eyes are simple Pac-Man-style pupils, adding to his innocent charm. He is almost always seen clad in a diaper secured with a pin and, most iconically, a little beanie with a spinning propeller on top. This beanie is so intrinsically linked to him that his father, Pop, often identifies Cub's presence (or absence) solely by spotting the hat. On the rare occasions he's seen without it, or with his hair visible, it's a noteworthy event.
He embodies the pure essence of babyhood and early childhood – curious, playful, and drawn to simple joys like toys, dandelions, and anything sweet, especially lollipops and ice cream.
Personality & Tendencies
Cub possesses the personality of a baby but often displays the intelligence and mobility of a young child, perhaps around four years of age. He is inherently innocent and cute, often cooing and drooling like a typical infant. His primary focus is on playing and exploring his surroundings, often with a blissful ignorance of the many dangers that lurk nearby.
If not under Pop's (often flawed) supervision, Cub has a tendency to wander off and interact with hazardous objects or machinery, treating dangerous items like toys. He might suck on an electric razor as if it were a pacifier or drift carelessly into perilous situations. He has also shown a peculiar fascination with playing with Lumpy's dismembered body parts, such as using Lumpy's skull like a conch shell or ripping out his heart as if it were a prize from a game.
Despite the constant, horrific misfortunes he endures, Cub displays an incredible capacity for forgiveness, especially towards his father. He rarely seems to hold grudges and is often quick to be comforted or distracted by a new toy or treat.
The Ever-Present Pop (and His Profound Impact)
Cub's existence is inextricably linked with his father, Pop. Pop clearly loves Cub deeply, yet his chronic obliviousness, bad judgment, and general incompetence as a caregiver are the direct cause of the vast majority of Cub's incredibly frequent and gruesome deaths. Pop might leave Cub unsupervised in dangerous situations, misinterpret obvious hazards, or actively cause harm through poorly thought-out actions.
Pop often fails to even notice when Cub has died, sometimes mistaking inanimate objects (like a piece of concrete wearing Cub's beanie) for his son. He has marked Cub's grave with the beanie, further emphasizing its symbolic importance.
Despite the endless cycle of pain and demise inflicted (however unintentionally) by Pop, Cub remains remarkably loving and forgiving towards his father. He often looks to Pop for comfort and help, imitates his behavior (showing he sees Pop as a role model), and seems to cherish moments spent with him. There are rare instances where Cub shows frustration with Pop, but these are fleeting. This unwavering affection in the face of such consistent parental failure is one of the most tragic and defining aspects of Cub's life.
Other Notable Relationships
Due to almost always being in Pop's company, Cub's direct interactions with other characters are somewhat limited, but a few patterns emerge:
- Lumpy: Cub seems to find a strange sort of amusement in Lumpy, particularly his remains. He's played with Lumpy's skull and heart. He's also cosplayed as an early version of Lumpy and was supposed to have dinner with him once.
- Splendid: Like many, Cub appears to be a fan of the superhero Splendid, attending his conventions and waving at him.
- Nutty: Nutty is perhaps the only character Cub actively dislikes, primarily because Nutty once stole his lollipop, causing Cub to cry.
- Cuddles & Giggles: His interactions are mainly social, such as being at the same dinner or Cub attending Cuddles' birthday. As Cubtron, he used Cuddles and Giggles as crayons. Giggles has also been annoyed by Cub's childlike antics (like hitting her airplane seat).
- Toothy: Similar to Cuddles and Giggles, interactions are social. Pop and Cub once bought a book from Toothy.
- Petunia: Cub has waved at Petunia and seemed interested in her head. As Cubtron, he also used her as a crayon.
- Handy: Cub has found Handy's struggles and injuries amusing, laughing at his pain on more than one occasion, even when Handy was babysitting him.
- The Mole: Cub has been given a lollipop by The Mole and has also played with The Mole's intestines as if they were a swing, likely too innocent to understand the grim reality.
- Fliqpy: In a bizarre twist, Cub might be one of the few on neutral, or even friendly, terms with Flippy's evil side. Fliqpy once pushed Cub off his tricycle to use it but made no attempt to kill him and even let Cub ride him when he was the tricycle. However, Fliqpy did unintentionally kill Cub in another instance.
- The City Monster (Cubtron): In a unique and terrifying transformation, Cub once became "Cubtron," a giant robotic version of himself, and in this form, he caused widespread destruction, killing many, including his own father.
Common Fates & Experiences
Cub's life is a tragic tapestry woven with fleeting moments of childlike joy and an overwhelming abundance of painful, gruesome, and often ironic deaths. He rarely survives an episode.
His demises frequently involve:
- Machinery: Being torn apart by outboard motors, shredded by garbage disposals, or killed by electric razors.
- Crushing: By Lumpy, falling boulders, burger joint doors, Nutty's concrete-filled stomach, ladders, giant popcorn, gravestones, or opening doors.
- Breathing problems: Drowning in bathtubs, suffocating in bubbles or from smoke inhalation.
- Impaling: By glass shards, tops, or rockets.
- Explosions: From dynamite or the heat of Lumpy's Christmas lights causing his head to explode.
- Being run over: By vans or treadmills.
- Electrocution: From drooling on train tracks.
- Unique transformations/possessions: Being possessed by a demon and then beaten to death by Pop, or becoming Cubtron and then being decapitated.
His injuries, when not immediately fatal, are equally horrific:
- Having parts of his head or ears cut or shaved off.
- Face scraped off.
- Teeth knocked out, or nails hammered into his head.
- Being burned by hot water or set on fire.
- Being bitten or torn apart by animals.
- Eardrums bursting.
Despite the sheer volume and brutality of these experiences, Cub always returns, his innocence and propensity for peril tragically renewed.
Occupations & Roles Undertaken
Given his age, Cub doesn't have "occupations" in the traditional sense. However, he has been central to several unique scenarios:
- Possessed by a Demon: In one instance, a demonic entity took control of him.
- Cubtron: He was once transformed into a giant, destructive robot.
- Object of Rescue (or failed rescue): He is very frequently the subject of Pop's (usually disastrous) rescue attempts.
His primary role is that of the quintessential innocent child navigating an incredibly dangerous world, largely at the mercy of his father's well-meaning but catastrophic ineptitude.
- #11Flaky
Keys: porcupine, red, crimson, quills, dandruff, flakes, cautious, timid, shy, brave, kind, mentally unstable, phobias, allergic, nervous, popular, anxious, sweet, well-meaning, accident-prone
Flaky: The Cautious Porcupine of Many Fears
Appearance & Essence
Flaky is a distinctive red porcupine, whose most notable features are the numerous crimson quills covering their body, which are perpetually dusted with white, flake-like dandruff – the very source of their name. These quills, while a natural part of being a porcupine, often cause unintentional trouble, impaling other characters or getting caught and leading to Flaky being painfully skinned. The dandruff itself is also a prominent feature, falling whenever Flaky runs, shakes, or is struck.
A subject of much discussion and ambiguity is Flaky's gender. While some use female pronouns when referring to Flaky, and Flaky has been seen contemplating which restroom to use (ultimately entering the one marked for boys in one instance), the truth remains delightfully enigmatic. Flaky has no overtly feminine features like long eyelashes, which many other female characters possess, and official sources have varied from "Female" to "Unknown," with creators suggesting the gender is open to interpretation, making Flaky a uniquely intriguing individual. Some even perceive the quills as a form of long hair, especially given how they react to hair growth treatments.
Personality & Tendencies
Flaky is primarily known for an extremely cautious, timid, and shy personality. In a world fraught with constant, brutal danger, this apprehension is quite understandable. Flaky is often seen as a coward, quick to shy away from perceived threats or risky situations. However, this isn't the whole picture. On several occasions, Flaky has displayed surprising bravery, sometimes even managing to save their own life or the lives of others, such as rescuing a baby bird.
Kindness is a core aspect of Flaky's nature. Despite their many fears, they are often seen with friends like Cuddles, Lumpy, and Sniffles. When with more reckless companions like Cuddles, Flaky often tries to warn them of potential dangers, though these warnings are frequently ignored, leading to grim outcomes for one or both of them.
There are indications that Flaky might be somewhat mentally unstable. In extreme situations, like being isolated in the Arctic, Flaky has shown signs of insanity, treating inanimate objects as companions. Fear-induced hallucinations have also plagued Flaky, notably leading to an incident where they attacked Flippy in imagined self-defense.
Flaky is known to be allergic to peanuts, which cause a severe reaction including a purple rash, swollen lips, and bloating up like a balloon. They are also prone to vomiting, especially when confronted with heights or flying.
Phobias
Flaky possesses an extensive and well-documented list of phobias, solidifying their reputation as one of the most anxious inhabitants of this perilous world. It's often joked that Flaky might suffer from pantophobia – the fear of everything. Known fears include:
- Birds and/or Chickens (Ornithophobia and/or Alektorophobia): Particularly frightened by small chicks.
- Darkness (Achluophobia and/or Nyctophobia): Suggested by behavior in dark environments.
- Dead Things (Necrophobia): Shown by reactions to corpses.
- Driving (Amaxophobia): Evident when attempting to operate vehicles.
- Flying (Aviophobia): A strong trigger for fear and vomiting.
- Heights (Acrophobia): Causes significant distress.
- Rats (Musophobia or Murophobia): Reacts with fear to rodents.
- Roller Coasters (Coasterphobia): A source of terror.
- Skiing (or possibly fear of momentum/speed): Leads to panic.
- Water (Hydrophobia or Aquaphobia): Fearful of bodies of water and swimming.
- Sharks (Selachophobia): Intense fear when encountering sharks.
- Toys (Toysemaphobia): Inexplicably frightened by toys in certain contexts.
- Massive Objects (Megalophobia): Overwhelmed by extremely large items.
Notable Relationships
Despite their timid nature, Flaky has formed connections with many other Tree Friends, though these are often complicated by Flaky's fears or the dangerous tendencies of others.
- Cuddles: Flaky and Cuddles are very good friends, frequently seen together. However, their dynamic is often a clash between Cuddles' reckless enthusiasm and Flaky's extreme caution. Flaky's warnings of danger are usually unheeded by Cuddles.
- Giggles: They get along well, camping and exploring together. However, Giggles spends more time with Petunia, possibly due to Flaky's quieter demeanor.
- Toothy: Flaky and Toothy are friends, playing together, going on trips, and attending parties. Flaky has mourned Toothy's death.
- Lumpy: Flaky and Lumpy are often good friends. Lumpy has led groups Flaky was in, cheered Flaky up, and even nursed Flaky back to health. However, Lumpy has also intentionally killed Flaky on occasion.
- Petunia: They seem to be on good terms, playing together, going on trips, and attending poker nights.
- Handy: They rarely interact. Handy was part of a group that killed Flaky once.
- Nutty: Flaky is friends with Nutty but can be resentful of his candy obsession, especially when it leads to Flaky being disregarded or harmed. They have worked together in a supermarket.
- Sniffles: Sniffles is a good friend. They've been on field trips, carnival rides, and expeditions together. Sniffles was also part of the group that killed Flaky in one instance.
- The Mole: Flaky and The Mole rarely interact but seem to get along. The Mole has been hired by Flaky for a party and given Flaky a surfboard. Flaky has also been a customer at The Mole's doughnut shop.
- Disco Bear: Uniquely, Flaky is perhaps the only character (often perceived as female) with whom Disco Bear has had some friendly, non-predatory interactions, like opening a supermarket together and shaking hands. However, his clumsiness has also inadvertently harmed Flaky.
- Russell: Their interactions are rare but friendly, having gone on a boating trip and waited in line at the movies together.
- Lifty & Shifty: Flaky has had negative interactions with the thieving brothers, who have used Flaky's dandruff for fake snow and provided a raft that Flaky then popped.
- Mime: They seem to be somewhat friends, despite rare meetings. Flaky has been horrified by Mime offering peanuts (due to the allergy) but has also sat next to Mime at the movies.
- Cro-Marmot: Their only significant interaction involved Flaky mistakenly believing Cro-Marmot hit them on the head.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: This is one of Flaky's most complex and significant relationships. Initially, Flaky seemed to regard Flippy as a friend, even planning his surprise birthday party, possibly unaware of his severe disorder at that time. However, as Fliqpy's violent tendencies became apparent, Flaky developed a deep-seated fear of him. This fear can become so intense that Flaky has hallucinates Fliqpy attacking and has even preemptively attacked Flippy in a state of panic, believing it to be self-defense. Fliqpy, for his part, has killed Flaky mercilessly like any other character, even using Flaky's quilled body as a weapon. Yet, there have been instances where Fliqpy has purposefully left a vulnerable Flaky unharmed, perhaps due to some twisted soldier's code against attacking the defenseless.
- Splendid: Flaky may be a fan of Splendid, having attended one of his speeches. Direct interaction is minimal.
- Lammy & Mr. Pickels: Flaky's relationship with Lammy is neutral to strained. Flaky was horrified seeing Lammy seemingly kill Petunia but later attended Lammy's poker party. Flaky ended up eating Mr. Pickels (Lammy's sentient pickle) during the game, defecating him out, and then being shocked and trying to retrieve him from the toilet, only for Mr. Pickels to then attempt to kill Flaky.
Common Fates & Experiences
True to the perilous nature of their world, Flaky meets a grim end with alarming regularity. Their deaths often involve:
- Breathing problems: Suffocation or issues related to their allergies.
- Getting sliced up or shredded: Often by fences, machinery, or even Cuddles' intestines.
- Burning: By lava or fire.
- Getting eaten: By orcas, seagulls, or flesh-eating flowers.
- Impaling: Often by their own quills indirectly, or by objects like klaxons, springs, or plungers.
- Being popped: After bloating due to an allergic reaction.
- Being crushed: By various objects like walls, vans, or manhole covers.
- Skinning: Due to quills catching on surfaces.
Injuries are also frequent and brutal:
- Being skinned alive.
- Strangulation.
- Feet impaled on nails and split.
- Arms stretched.
- Slammed against cliffs.
- Vomiting due to fear.
- Severe allergic reactions.
- Head injuries, including exposed brain.
- Eyes pecked out.
- Hands eaten by piranhas.
- Internal injuries from defecating sharp objects (like Mr. Pickels).
Despite the high mortality rate, Flaky has managed to survive a number of episodes, a testament perhaps to their cautious nature occasionally paying off, or simply by sheer luck.
Occupations & Careers
Even with their timid disposition, Flaky has been seen in a few occupational roles:
- Soccer Goalie
- Trapeze Artist/Circus Performer
- Grocer/Supermarket Worker
- Explorer
- Water Dunk Game Victim (less a career, more a misfortune)
- Student Driver
- Student
These roles often thrust Flaky into the very situations they fear most, usually with predictably disastrous results.
- #12The Mole
Keys: mole, blind, shades, purple, magenta, turtleneck, mute, spy, secret agent, oblivious, kind-hearted, accident-prone, high kill count, numerous jobs, pain resistant, hearing problems, ironic, well-meaning, resourceful
The Mole: The Sightless Agent of Unintentional Mayhem
Appearance & Essence
The Mole is a very pale magenta-pink mole, instantly recognizable by his signature dark purple turtleneck sweater which notably covers his mouth, and matching purple sunglasses that perpetually hide his eyes. A small, actual mole sits near his heart-shaped nose. His ears are somewhat smaller and closer together than most. He moves through the world in a state of complete blindness.
A truly enigmatic figure, The Mole never speaks, leading many to assume he is mute, as not even the most excruciating pain elicits a sound from him. This silence adds to his mysterious aura, which is occasionally amplified by hints of a past (or perhaps ongoing) life as a James Bond-esque secret agent, complete with spy gadgets and an arch-nemesis known only as "The Rat." He's often seen engaging in activities that would seemingly require perfect vision, such as reading, lighting matches to see in the dark, or, most alarmingly, driving vehicles.
Personality & Tendencies
The Mole's defining characteristic is his total blindness, which is the unfortunate wellspring of countless disasters and a shockingly high body count. He navigates the world in a state of blissful, and often gruesome, ignorance of the chaos he frequently leaves in his wake. It's a common sight to see him misinterpreting his surroundings or using objects (and sometimes, body parts of the recently deceased) in hilariously inappropriate and macabre ways.
Despite the carnage that often follows him, The Mole himself appears to be an inherently kindhearted individual. He's been shown preparing for dates with genuine effort, giving generously to trick-or-treaters, and willingly participating in group activities and efforts to help others, like building houses or cleaning up the environment. His destructive actions are almost invariably accidental, stemming purely from his inability to see.
An interesting and debated aspect of his nature is his apparent resistance or insensitivity to pain; he often doesn't react to injuries that would make others scream, such as his thumb being set on fire or his cane impaling his head. However, he does seem to perceive temperature. He may also have some hearing difficulties, though this is inconsistent.
There are hints that The Mole might sometimes live in poverty, seen playing music for money or dressed in shabby clothes. Yet, in other instances, he appears to have a home, a car, and presentable attire, adding to his enigmatic nature.
The Mole's Mistakes: A Catalogue of Comical Calamity
A running theme in The Mole's existence is his propensity for mistaking one thing for another, often with horrifically funny results. His blindness leads to a unique and often gory form of slapstick:
- He has mistaken Sniffles' head for a bowling ball.
- Mime's head has been used as a pumpkin and a ketchup dispenser.
- Disco Bear's severed head was weighed as a watermelon.
- He's confused a fire engine's petrol tank for a fire hydrant.
- Giggles' heart, flowers, and even Sniffles' foot have been mistaken for litter.
- Handy's heart has been mistaken for a handkerchief and an apple.
- Lumpy has been confused for a surfboard and even Giggles on a blind date.
- He's used a gumball machine as a camera and Mime's skin as film.
- Cuddles' eyeball became an apple, and Toothy's eye ended up as an ice cream topping.
- Lumpy's heart was mistaken for a baby bird.
- A couch has served as a patient, and Cuddles' coin as a button.
- He once attempted to use a lawnmower as a seeing-eye dog.
- Poisons and bowling ball polish have been confused with hair care products.
This is but a sampling of his many bewildering blunders, each a testament to his profound lack of sight.
Notable Relationships
Despite the danger he inadvertently poses, The Mole has formed several connections:
- Lumpy: He and Lumpy are often seen as good friends and frequent partners in various occupations, forming a duo renowned for their combined ineptitude ("No Eyes, No Brain"). Their collaborations almost always end in widespread disaster. However, there have been unfriendly moments, such as Lumpy mistakenly arresting him.
- Handy: Handy might be The Mole's best friend. They've embarked on road trips, bowled together, and frequently work (and fail) side-by-side on various jobs.
- Giggles: The Mole appears to have a recurring crush on Giggles. He has prepared for dates with her and even went on a successful one in
Cold Hearted. He willingly helps her with tasks, though his assistance is often more hazardous than helpful. - Sniffles: They are friends, seen hanging out and bowling together. However, The Mole has also made Sniffles leave a convention and accidentally crashed his car into him.
- Cuddles: They generally get along, working together as firemen or on construction projects for Giggles. Cuddles has been a victim of The Mole's medical "attentions."
- The Rat: His apparent arch-nemesis from his (possible) life in international espionage.
- Splendid: While The Mole shows little aggression towards Splendid, the superhero seems to actively dislike The Mole, likely due to the mole's tendency to cause or exacerbate disasters Splendid is trying to avert.
Common Fates & Experiences
While he survived more often in earlier appearances, The Mole meets his end with increasing regularity as time goes on. His deaths are often related to his head, being involved in vehicle crashes, or explosions. More significantly, his blindness is a constant source of lethal danger for everyone around him. He is often completely oblivious to the gruesome deaths he causes, or the horrific injuries sustained by others due to his actions.
His own injuries, when not immediately fatal, often go unnoticed by him, such as being impaled through the head with his own cane or having his thumb set on fire.
Occupations & Careers
Second only to Lumpy, The Mole has undertaken an impressive and bewildering array of occupations, nearly all ofwhich ironically require good eyesight. His attempts to perform these jobs are a primary source of the chaos that defines his existence.
His long and varied resume includes (but is by no means limited to): Secret Agent/Spy, Stage Light Operator, Street Cleaner, Construction Worker, Fireman, Trash Pick-up Volunteer, Hot Dog Vendor, Newspaper Photographer, Ship Captain, Surfboard Shack Owner, Airport Security Guard, Barber, Blood Drive Worker, Street Musician, Music Shop Owner, Charity Collector, Paramedic, Security Guard, Ice Cream Shop Worker, Doughnut Shop Worker, TV Cameraman, Delivery Man, and Swimming Race Official.
Each job is a new adventure in accidental destruction, a testament to The Mole's unique and hazardous way of navigating the world.
- #13Disco Bear
Keys: bear, golden, orange, afro, sideburns, disco music, dancing, flirting, 70s style, platform shoes, "Oh yeah!", financially well-off, confident, inconsiderate, overweight, unhealthy eater, persistent, show-off, romantic, low self-esteem
Disco Bear: The Flamboyant, Funky Bear with a Fatal Attraction
Appearance & Essence
Disco Bear is a sight to behold, a golden-furred bear who embodies the flamboyant spirit of the disco era. His most defining feature is his voluminous, perfectly round orange afro, complemented by matching sideburns. He's always dressed to impress in 1970s fashion, typically sporting a yellow leisure jacket, matching yellow bell-bottom pants, and striking orange and white platform dancing shoes.
He's rarely seen without his signature groove, and his catchphrase, "Oh yeah!", often punctuates his attempts at suave conversation or his satisfaction with his own moves. If something particularly piques his interest, he's known to let out a deep, growling vocalization.
Despite his sometimes-questionable social success, Disco Bear appears to be quite affluent. He owns a private ski cabin, a lavishly decorated bachelor pad (complete with a heart-shaped bed and hot tub), a sports car, and even his own submarine. This wealth might stem from a past, successful music career during the peak of disco fever; a gold record has been spotted adorning his wall, and his silhouette has appeared on a disco record in a jukebox, hinting at a hit album in his past.
Personality & Tendencies
Disco Bear's personality is largely driven by his love for disco music and his relentless pursuit of female attention. He is a consumate flirt, constantly trying to impress and woo the ladies, particularly Giggles and Petunia, and to a lesser extent, Flaky. Unfortunately for him, these attempts usually backfire spectacularly, often resulting in injury or death for himself and/or the objects of his affection.
He's a show-off by nature, always eager to display his dancing skills, roller skating prowess, or skiing talents. This confidence, however, often borders on inconsideration, as he can be oblivious to the chaos he causes or the discomfort of others. He might push others aside to make a grand entrance or fail to notice the disastrous consequences of his actions while he's lost in his own funky world.
Beneath the confident exterior, there are hints of vulnerability. Disco Bear has notably poor eating habits, favoring fatty junk foods over healthier options. This has sometimes led to him being depicted as overweight, struggling with physical activity, and even experiencing heart problems and low self-esteem about his physique. Despite his deep, smooth speaking voice, he possesses a surprisingly high-pitched scream when startled or in pain.
While his primary focus is often on flirting, he has shown other talents, such as being a surprisingly good downhill skier and frisbee thrower.
Notable Relationships
Disco Bear's social life is heavily skewed towards his attempts to woo female characters, with mixed (mostly negative) results from their perspective, though he seems to get along reasonably well with many of the male characters.
- Giggles & Petunia: These two are the primary targets of Disco Bear's affections. He is blissfully and persistently in love with them, constantly flirting, trying to dance with them, or even attempting to kiss them. Giggles and Petunia, however, generally find his advances annoying and unwelcome, often rolling their eyes or actively rebuffing him. Despite this, Giggles has, on very rare occasions (like when he had a new hairstyle), seemed to appreciate his attention or show concern for his well-being.
- Flaky: While not as primary a target as Giggles or Petunia, Disco Bear has flirted with Flaky. His interactions with her are inconsistent; sometimes he seems happy to see her, other times he carelessly pushes her aside. They have been seen holding hands around a fire, suggesting moments of friendliness.
- Cuddles: They haven't directly interacted much. Cuddles is likely not fond of Disco Bear due to his advances on Giggles. They have worked together as firefighters without major conflict, though Disco Bear showed some apathy for Cuddles' safety.
- Toothy: Their interactions have been brief but seemingly amicable, such as working together as firefighters or being seen together in a group.
- Lumpy: Disco Bear and Lumpy are friends. Disco Bear once mistook Lumpy for a beggar and gave him money. He's also been Lumpy's police partner, and they've enjoyed snacks and beer together.
- Handy: They appear to be enemies, having been seen angrily yelling at each other.
- Nutty: Their relationship is mixed. Nutty once ate Disco Bear's "hair" (made of cotton candy), but they've also co-owned a supermarket and sat together on a roller coaster, suggesting friendship.
- Sniffles: They've worked together as firefighters. However, Disco Bear has also inconsiderately pushed Sniffles aside to use a cotton candy machine.
- Pop & Cub: Disco Bear became friends with Pop when invited for beers and chips. He seems indifferent to Cub.
- The Mole: Their relationship is neutral. The Mole has given Disco Bear disastrous haircuts, yet Disco Bear returned for his services. They were also firefighter partners, an interaction that ended with The Mole accidentally setting Disco Bear on fire.
- Russell: They are shown to be friends, having ridden a roller coaster together.
- Lifty & Shifty: It's unclear if Disco Bear views them as enemies. They stole his submarine and killed him, but he didn't know it was them. He also made a friendly deal with them once.
- Mime: Disco Bear clearly dislikes Mime, especially when Mime outshines him in front of the ladies. Despite this, they've been seen getting along in a group setting.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Like most, Disco Bear is terrified of Fliqpy and has been a victim of his rampages. He has also pursued Fliqpy as a police officer. He has not yet interacted with Flippy's non-violent side.
- Splendid: Disco Bear is a big fan of Splendid and has waited in line for his autograph.
Common Fates & Experiences
Life for Disco Bear is a dazzling, dangerous dance. His attempts to be cool and impress others frequently lead to his demise.
His deaths often involve:
- His head (exploding, being impaled, crushed, or pierced).
- Impalement (by quills, nails, scissors, periscopes, fishing hooks).
- Explosions (cars, gas leaks, shaken soda cans).
- Being shredded or sliced in half.
- Electrocution.
- Suffocation.
He doesn't survive very often, but there have been a few instances where he's made it through an episode, usually when his flirting isn't the central focus of his actions.
His injuries are often related to his vanity or his attempts at impressing others:
- Afro burned off.
- Sprayed in the eyes (pepper spray or skunk spray).
- Severe burns.
- Chest cut open and heart manipulated.
- Eyes accidentally shaved off.
- Body covered in excessive hair growth.
- Back problems from his dance moves or being thrashed by a dog.
Occupations & Careers
While primarily a dedicated disco dancer and flirt, Disco Bear has held a few occupations:
- Musician (implied from his past, possibly pre-episodes)
- Firefighter
- Grocer / Supermarket Co-owner
- Swimmer
- Policeman
- King (in a dream)
These roles often serve as new backdrops for his signature flirting and unfortunate, often fatal, mishaps.
- #14Russell
Keys: sea otter, pirate, aquamarine, teal, hook hand, eyepatch, peg-legs, "Yar!", fishing, sailing, seafood, mussels, kite-flying, insane episodes, resilient, adventurous, resourceful, social, determined
Russell: The Pirate Otter of the High Seas (and High Tides of Trouble)
Appearance & Essence
Russell is an unmistakable figure, an aquamarine (sometimes described as rainshower blue) sea otter who fully embodies the pirate life. He's rarely seen without his signature pirate accessories: a Jolly Roger hat perched jauntily on his head, a striped red and white shirt, a menacing hook (which started on his left hand but later migrated to his right), a mysterious eye-patch covering one eye, and two sturdy wooden peg-legs. In his early days, he sported a five o'clock shadow, but this rugged feature has since vanished.
He lives in a grand pirate ship-shaped tree-house and prefers to sleep in a hammock, befitting his nautical nature. It's known that his legs are genuinely amputated, as he can be seen hopping from one set of pegs to another. He's also one of the few characters without visible ears when his hat is removed. When bedtime arrives, he dons a stripy undershirt.
Personality & Tendencies
Russell is a true son of the sea. His primary interests revolve around fishing, sailing, boating, and indulging in seafood, with a particular fondness for mussels (which even inspired his name). He also enjoys flying kites and has even been known to run a fast-food restaurant.
His vocabulary is charmingly limited, primarily consisting of a hearty "Yar!" However, he has been heard to utter other exclamations like "Aha!" or "Huh?" and, in a rare moment of politeness, apologized to The Mole after bumping into him.
A striking aspect of Russell's personality emerges in moments of extreme stress, fear, or violence. In such situations, he can descend into a state of temporary insanity. His remaining pupil will constrict, his expression will become wild and stressed, and he'll begin to laugh maniacally while slashing erratically with his hook. This state is reminiscent of Flippy's transformation, though Russell's version seems less focused on direct harm to others and more on uncontrolled, frantic action. Whether he would kill in this state is debatable, as individuals haven't typically been around him during these episodes. He also has a visible crack on his skull, similar to Lammy, perhaps hinting at past traumas or an underlying instability.
Despite his pirate demeanor, Russell is generally a nice character who avoids negative confrontations, save for with recognized antagonists. He tends to spend much of his time on water-related activities, somewhat separate from the main group, but has become increasingly social over time, appearing more often with the other Tree Friends. He has demonstrated that his remaining eye sometimes gives him blurry vision, necessitating a contact lens.
Notable Relationships
While often on his own maritime adventures, Russell has formed various connections:
- Giggles: Russell has a significant romantic connection with Giggles, the pink chipmunk. They have been on dates, enjoyed romantic moments, and she is his primary love interest.
- Lumpy: Lumpy, the blue moose, is a very close friend. They've cooperated (with Lumpy's usual disastrous results) to escape a whale's stomach, gone fishing, searched for treasure together, and played in the same band. Russell often seems to be a fan of Lumpy's antics, despite the chaos Lumpy brings.
- Cuddles: Russell is good friends with Cuddles, the yellow rabbit. Their interactions usually occur in group settings, such as trick-or-treating, sailing, or playing baseball.
- Toothy: Similar to Cuddles, Toothy, the beaver, is a good friend with whom Russell interacts primarily in group scenarios.
- Handy: Russell and Handy, the orange beaver, are friends, sharing the commonality of missing body parts. They've played in a band together and seem to get along well.
- Nutty: They appear to get along, having been seen together at a circus and in other group settings.
- Sniffles: Russell and Sniffles are likely friends. They've ridden roller coasters together, Russell has bought cotton candy from Sniffles, and they've been in bands and acting troupes together.
- The Mole: Russell shows respect for The Mole, even apologizing after bumping into him – a rare instance of Russell speaking actual words.
- Disco Bear: They seem to be friends, having ridden a roller coaster together.
- Cro-Marmot: Russell appears to be friends with Cro-Marmot. They've played with balloons, enjoyed baseball together, and participated in swimming races.
- Mime: Their relationship is mixed. Russell has hired Mime as an employee but became angry and fired him when Mime's actions (or lack thereof) led to customer deaths. However, he has also enjoyed balloon swords Mime made for him.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: While no direct interaction has been seen, Russell most likely shares the general fear of Fliqpy and would presumably try to escape his rampages.
- Splendid: Russell appears to be a fan of Splendid, waiting in line for his autograph.
- Lifty & Shifty: Like most, Russell dislikes the thieving raccoon brothers, especially after they stole his hard-earned treasure, making him very angry.
He has yet to interact with Petunia, Pop, Lammy, and Mr. Pickels.
Common Fates & Experiences
Life as a pirate otter in this world is fraught with peril, and Russell frequently meets a watery or violent end.
His deaths often involve:
- Sea animals (eaten by orcas or anglerfish, impaled by swordfish).
- Explosions (hitting sea mines, truck explosions).
- Impaling (on ship's masts, various sharp objects, pens).
- Crushing (by popcorn, vans).
- Decapitation or being sliced to pieces.
- Drowning.
- Decompression sickness leading to his muscles expanding through his skin.
- Being forced through small openings.
His injuries are also typically severe:
- Prior to his current state, he permanently lost his right eye, both legs, and his right hand.
- Choking on blowfish.
- Arms ripped off.
- Eyelid caught by a fishing hook.
- Dragged through jagged coral.
- Beaten by sea animals.
- Painfully burned by hot water.
- Peg legs stuck in boards, intestines pulled out by anchors, pulled through fire.
- Skin on his face ripped off.
- Impaled in the chest by bottles.
- Patches of skin ripped off by squid tentacles.
Despite these frequent and brutal encounters with death and dismemberment, Russell always returns, hook sharpened and ready for the next nautical adventure. He has a better survival rate in the TV series compared to the earlier internet shorts.
Occupations & Careers
Russell is a pirate through and through, but he has also dabbled in a few other professions:
- Pirate (his primary and defining role)
- Fisherman
- Treasure Hunter
- Sanitation Engineer
- Fast-Food Restaurant Owner
- Ship Deck Swabber
- Carnival Booth Operator
- Bass Guitarist
- Fish Market Trucker
- Student / School Play Actor
- Swimmer
These roles often tie into his love for the sea or place him in situations where his pirate skills (or lack thereof in a given context) lead to chaotic outcomes.
- #15Lifty
Keys: raccoon, green, thief, kleptomaniac, twin, greedy, cunning, mischievous, partner-in-crime, meat-lover, money-driven, snickers, accident-prone, occasionally bossed-around
Lifty: The Nimble-Fingered Raccoon of Ill Repute
Appearance & Essence
Lifty is one half of a notorious duo of green raccoon twins, instantly recognizable by the dark green mask-like markings around his eyes – a classic sign of a woodland bandit. His fur is a medium sea green, with paler green accents on his ears, belly, and soles, and a darker green marking on his head. His tail typically matches the darker green hue. He and his identical twin brother, Shifty, are rarely seen apart, their presence almost always signaling impending larceny.
At his core, Lifty is driven by an insatiable urge to acquire... well, anything that isn't nailed down, and even then, he might just steal the nails too. He embodies the spirit of a kleptomaniac, finding an almost irresistible allure in the "five-fingered discount."
Personality & Tendencies
Lifty, alongside Shifty, is a master of mischief and a purveyor of pilfered goods. Their primary motivation is to get rich quick, which usually involves elaborate (and often poorly executed) heists, ransacking homes, or snatching treasures. They share a trademark evil snicker, a sound that often precedes or follows one of their nefarious deeds.
While they are partners in crime, there's a subtle dynamic within the pair. Lifty is often the one who finds himself being bossed around or taking the brunt of Shifty's frustrations when plans go awry. Despite their frequent arguments, especially when a scheme unravels, a deep brotherly bond exists. They've been seen showing genuine affection and working seamlessly together when true danger emerges.
Their greed is legendary and is very often their undoing. Even when facing imminent peril, the lure of one last valuable item can prove too strong to resist, frequently leading to their gruesome demise. Beyond valuables, both brothers share an unusual and strong desire for meat, a trait more aligned with their raccoon nature than some of their herbivorous neighbors. They also possess a surprising knack for car building and mechanics, able to assemble and maintain vehicles for their capers.
Though thievery is their mainstay, there have been rare occasions where Lifty and Shifty have contributed to communal activities without ulterior motives or have even earned money through (somewhat) honest means, like selling dubious wares. They've even shown moments of heroism, however fleeting.
Notable Relationships
Lifty's relationships are almost universally defined by his criminal activities. He and Shifty are seen as pariahs by most, yet they still sometimes find themselves in group settings.
- Shifty (Twin Brother & Partner in Crime): This is Lifty's most significant and constant relationship. They are inseparable, plotting and executing their thefts together. While Shifty often takes the lead and can be domineering or quick to blame Lifty, their shared experiences and familial tie create an undeniable, if often dysfunctional, bond. They celebrate successes together and sometimes perish due to their bickering or mutual greed.
- Lumpy: The dim-witted moose is a favorite and frequent target for Lifty and Shifty due to his profound lack of intelligence, making him easy to dupe or rob. They've stolen everything from his meat and cow to his wallet and pet elephant.
- Cuddles: Cuddles has occasionally been roped into their schemes, usually unwittingly, and has also been a victim of their thefts. In a rare display of concern, Lifty (and Shifty) once attempted to save Cuddles from a dangerous situation.
- Giggles & Petunia: These two are often victims of Lifty and Shifty's opportunism, having had their lemonade stand profits and pets stolen.
- Toothy: Toothy has also fallen prey to their schemes, losing his pet tortoise to their thieving ways.
- Handy: Handy has had his car parts and even his entire car stolen by the raccoon brothers.
- Nutty: The sugar-crazed squirrel has been both a target (his snow cone) and a customer, with Lifty and Shifty exploiting his addictions for profit.
- Sniffles: Sniffles has suffered greatly at their hands, most notably having his arms ripped off when they stole a magic lamp he was holding.
- Pop & Cub: Pop's house has been ransacked, and his wallet stolen. Cub's wagon has also been pilfered.
- The Mole: Even The Mole's blindness doesn't deter Lifty and Shifty from stealing his possessions, including his identity and musical instruments.
- Disco Bear: Disco Bear has had his meat and submarine stolen, and has also been a customer for their questionable hair growth formula.
- Russell: Russell's treasure chest was a prime target for the thieving duo.
- Mime: Even Mime's imaginary safe wasn't safe from Lifty and Shifty's ambition.
- Cro-Marmot: The frozen caveman was once kidnapped by the brothers.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: They've robbed Flippy's home while he slept but are, like everyone else, terrified when he transforms into Fliqpy.
- Splendid: While they are clear enemies of the superhero, often finding their plans thwarted (or inadvertently aided to a disastrous end) by him, they have also been seen attending his speeches, suggesting a strange sort of fanboy admiration.
- Almost Everyone Else: Generally, if a character possesses something of value, they are a potential target for Lifty.
Known Thefts (Highlights)
Lifty, with Shifty, has a rap sheet longer than his tail. Their targets and stolen goods are diverse:
- Valuables: Money, wallets, treasure chests, priceless museum artifacts, a magic lamp.
- Food & Livestock: Meat from Lumpy's deli, an entire cow, a snow cone (attempted), Christmas dinner (attempted).
- Vehicles & Parts: Go-kart wheels, steering wheels, entire cars, a submarine.
- Pets: Cuddles' mouse, Giggles' cat, Toothy's turtle, Lumpy's elephant.
- Miscellaneous: Musical instruments, identities (by stealing wallets/outfits), Christmas trees, hair growth formulas, video games, and even Cro-Marmot himself.
Occupations & Careers
While "professional thief" is his primary calling, Lifty has dabbled in other "professions," usually as a front for or in conjunction with his illicit activities:
- Race-car Driver (likely with stolen parts)
- Christmas Play Special Effects Helper (an opportunity for mischief)
- Dog Breeder and Seller (likely selling stolen or problematic animals)
- Street Seller (peddling questionable or stolen goods)
Common Fates & Experiences
Despite their cunning, Lifty and Shifty's careers in crime are almost always cut short by gruesome and ironic deaths. Their own greed and a tendency for their teamwork to break down at critical moments are often their undoing.
Common ways Lifty meets his end include:
- Being sliced, diced, or scraped apart by machinery, pavement, or fences.
- Impaling on various objects, including trees and pogo sticks.
- Explosions, often of their own making or as a result of their meddling.
- Being crushed by heavy objects or in vehicle crashes.
- Drowning or being burned/boiled.
- Electrocution.
- Suffocation.
Their deaths are often messy and directly linked to the item they were trying to steal or the scheme they were enacting. On very rare occasions, Lifty (sometimes even without Shifty, which is a true anomaly) manages to survive an episode, usually when their thievery isn't the central plot or when they make a quick escape.
- #16Shifty
Keys: raccoon, green, fedora, thief, kleptomaniac, money, meat, stealing, cunning, leader, greedy, treacherous, snickering, physically capable, honest, heroic, partner
Shifty: The Fedora'd Raccoon Kleptomaniac
Appearance & Essence
Shifty is one half of an infamous pair of identical twin green raccoons, easily distinguished from his brother, Lifty, by the jaunty fedora permanently perched atop his head. His fur is a medium sea green, with darker green mask-like markings around his eyes and a matching dark green (or sometimes simply green) striped tail. His ears, belly, and the soles of his feet are a paler green.
He and his brother are notorious kleptomaniacs, driven by an insatiable urge to steal. Their interests primarily revolve around acquiring money, valuable goods, and, curiously, meat. Shifty often takes the lead in their heists, frequently bossing Lifty around. A trademark evil snicker often accompanies their illicit activities.
Personality & Tendencies
Shifty is the archetypal cunning thief. His mind is constantly scheming, always looking for the next score or an opportunity to get rich quick. He displays a notable streak of arrogance and often seems to be the more dominant of the two brothers, though they are both physically capable, able to lift surprisingly heavy objects when working in tandem.
While they are partners in crime, Shifty has a disturbing tendency to betray his brother, Lifty, if it means saving his own skin or securing a larger share of the loot. He's been known to abandon Lifty in dangerous situations or make choices that directly lead to Lifty's demise while he attempts to escape. This self-preservation instinct often overrides any fraternal loyalty.
Despite his criminal nature and propensity for betrayal, there are rare glimpses of brotherly affection between him and Lifty, particularly when they are not actively engaged in a heist or when facing a common threat. They've been seen enjoying recreational activities together and even hugging in moments of shared relief or joy.
On very infrequent occasions, Shifty (along with Lifty) has been known to earn money through legitimate, if still somewhat shady, means, such as selling questionably sourced goods. Even rarer are moments where they might act heroically, like providing a life raft to others stranded on an island. These instances are, however, exceptions to their usual modus operandi.
Notable Relationships
Shifty's relationships are almost universally defined by his thievery.
- Lifty: His twin brother and partner in crime. Their relationship is complex and often fraught with tension. Shifty usually directs their operations and doesn't hesitate to sacrifice Lifty if it benefits him. However, they are an effective team when their goals align, and moments of genuine camaraderie and even affection can be seen. Lifty is both his closest confidant and his most frequent scapegoat.
- Lumpy: The dim-witted moose Lumpy is a favorite and frequent target for Shifty and Lifty. Lumpy's lack of intelligence and common sense makes him incredibly easy to rob, and they have stolen everything from his meat and cow to his wallet and pet elephant.
- Cuddles: Cuddles has been both an unwitting accomplice (helping them move heavy objects) and a victim of their schemes (having his pet mouse stolen). On one rare occasion, Shifty and Lifty attempted to save Cuddles from a claw machine.
- Almost Everyone Else: Generally, Shifty is viewed as an enemy by the other inhabitants. He has stolen from nearly every character in some form or another, ransacking houses, snatching valuables, and even kidnapping for ransom (like Cro-Marmot). His interactions are almost exclusively based on what he can take from them.
- Splendid: While Splendid is a superhero and thus a natural opponent to thieves, Shifty and Lifty have been seen attending Splendid's speeches, implying a strange sort of fanboyism or at least a grudging respect, despite also being his enemies when their plans intersect.
Common Fates & Experiences
Despite their cunning and attempts at self-preservation (especially Shifty's), he and Lifty almost invariably meet a gruesome end in their escapades. Their greed and lack of teamwork in critical moments often seal their doom.
Shifty's deaths are typically messy and involve:
- Machines or vehicles (being scraped off by pavement, mangled by van axles, hit by trains).
- Being mashed, ground, or sliced apart (ground into sausage, sliced by ropes or cookie cutters).
- Impalement (by lamps, icicles, or various sharp objects).
- Heat-related deaths (burned by lava, boiled by lasers, face melted by hot cheese).
- Crushing (by popcorn, castle spires, or Splendid's breath).
He is the only character known to die in every single episode in which he has a starring role. Survivals are incredibly rare for him, usually occurring when he's in a minor or appearance role and manages to avoid direct involvement in the episode's central catastrophe.
Injuries, when not immediately fatal, often include:
- Having his skin torn off his feet by hot surfaces.
- Arms severed by traps.
- Being beaten up (sometimes by Lifty).
- Suffocating.
- Being set on fire.
Known Thefts
Shifty, alongside Lifty, has an extensive rap sheet. They have stolen:
- Wheels, meat, a cow, a wallet, and a pet elephant from Lumpy.
- A pet mouse from Cuddles.
- Lemonade stand profits and a pet cat from Giggles.
- A pet turtle from Toothy.
- Lemonade stand profits from Petunia.
- A steering wheel, a car, and even an identity from Handy.
- A snow cone (attempted) from Nutty.
- A magic lamp (and Sniffles' arms) from Sniffles.
- Ransacked Pop's house and stole his wallet.
- A red wagon from Cub.
- An identity and musical instruments from The Mole.
- Meat and a submarine from Disco Bear.
- A treasure chest from Russell.
- An imaginary safe from Mime.
- Everything from Flippy's house.
- Kidnapped Cro-Marmot.
- Mixed items, hair growth formulas, various pets, video games, candy, and priceless museum artifacts from Generic Tree Friends and general locations.
Occupations & Careers
While "Thief" is his primary and defining occupation, Shifty has occasionally dabbled in other ventures (though usually still with larcenous intent):
- Race-car Driver
- Christmas Play Special Effects Helper (likely an opportunity to pilfer props)
- Dog Breeder and Seller (the dogs had a dangerous quirk)
- Street Seller (selling hair growth formula or items from a video game, likely stolen)
No matter the guise, Shifty's true profession always seems to be separating others from their possessions.
- #17Mime
Keys: deer, purple, mime, silent, face paint, striped shirt, unicycle, juggling, balloons, peanuts, imaginary, talented, misunderstood, quiet, expressive, persistent, unlucky
Mime: The Silent Deer of Many Talents (and Misunderstandings)
Appearance & Essence
Mime is a distinctive dark violet (sometimes Windsor-hued) male deer, instantly recognizable by his chosen profession and appearance. He always wears white face paint, characteristic of a mime, and a navy blue (or dark purple) and white striped shirt. Pointy ears and a pair of thistle-colored antlers crown his head, and he sometimes sports a matching thistle tail. His cheeks and ear interiors are a soft pastel pink.
He is a creature of silence, never speaking a word. This commitment to his art form is absolute, even in moments of extreme pain or peril, where screams are replaced by silent suffering or non-vocal sounds like choking or blowing. He is inspired by the classic mime artists of yore, embodying their dedication to wordless expression.
Personality & Tendencies
Mime's defining characteristic is his muteness. He communicates entirely through gestures, mimed actions, and facial expressions. While expressive, this often leads to grave misunderstandings, as others struggle to interpret his silent warnings or requests, frequently with disastrous consequences for individuals or even the entire town.
He is exceptionally talented in traditional circus skills. Mime is an adept juggler, capable of manipulating objects with a single hand, and can skillfully create balloon animals. He is very fond of peanuts, sometimes going to extreme and dangerous lengths (like sticking his hand in a blender) to get them. He is often seen riding a unicycle, sometimes for entire episodes, navigating his world with a unique, one-wheeled grace.
A curious aspect of Mime's existence is his relationship with the imaginary. Many of his possessions, including the furniture in his tent-home, appear to be entirely mimed. Yet, these "imaginary" items can sometimes be stolen, interact with the real world, or even make audible sounds (like a mimed car horn on his unicycle), blurring the line between reality and his performance. He might even use mimed walls for showmanship. This dedication to his craft can sometimes lead him to make obviously impossible actions seem real, at least to himself. There are even suggestions that Mime may perceive his mimed reality as more tangible than the actual world around him, sometimes failing to recognize real danger or mistaking imaginary constructs for real beings.
He lives in a tent, but the interior is often depicted as a regular house, albeit one furnished with his invisible or imaginary belongings.
The Art of Silence (Miming)
Mime's primary mode of interaction and expression is through the art of pantomime. This is not merely a performance choice but seems to be an intrinsic part of his being.
- Objects of Imagination: He frequently mimes objects like flutes, ropes, peanuts (which crunch when he "eats" them), tears, car horns, watches, guitars, hearts, bows, arrows, and even complex items like sinks, stoves, and safes. These mimed objects can, on rare occasions, have real-world effects, even causing injury or death to others (like Petunia being "shot" by a mimed arrow).
- Actions & Scenarios: Mime uses his body to convey actions like walking down invisible stairs, being trapped in a small box, or even impersonating giant monsters. He will attempt to warn others of danger by miming the threat, such as pretending to suffocate or touching an invisible wall to indicate a house fire.
- Consequences of Silence: His inability (or unwillingness) to speak often leads to catastrophic misunderstandings. His attempts to alert others to danger are frequently misinterpreted or ignored, leading to widespread destruction or death.
Notable Relationships
Despite his silence, Mime has formed various connections, though they are often complicated by his inability to communicate verbally.
- The Mole: Mime is often seen with The Mole. This pairing is deeply ironic, as Mime cannot speak and The Mole cannot see (or often hear well), leading to many tragicomic misunderstandings and failures in communication. The Mole has killed Mime on several occasions due to this.
- Sniffles: Their relationship is neutral but marked by mutual obliviousness at times. Mime has desperately tried to wake a sleeping Sniffles while choking, and later, Mime let Sniffles drown while trying to resuscitate an imaginary body. However, they do attend movies together and Mime has alerted Sniffles to danger.
- Lumpy: Mime's relationship with Lumpy is ambiguous and often negative. Lumpy has yelled at Mime when he was choking, been unimpressed by his tricks (forcing him to clean elephant dung), and kept him prisoner as a giant. Mime, in turn, has instructed Lumpy on an airplane. However, Lumpy has also been entertained by Mime.
- Cuddles: They are considered friends, attending parties and helping with projects together. Mime has tried to warn Cuddles of danger, and Cuddles has sought to "buy" a mimed guitar from Mime.
- Giggles: Also a friend. Giggles (and Petunia) became infatuated with Mime when he wore a wig. He has made her balloon hats and joined her for breakfast.
- Toothy: Their interactions are generally friendly, though often end badly. Mime visited an injured Toothy to entertain him (with disastrous results) and they've worked together.
- Petunia: Mime is close friends with Petunia, and she appears to be a love interest, showing attraction to him. They have held hands and he has made romantic gestures (albeit with mimed, dangerous objects).
- Flaky: Mime is kind to Flaky, offering her peanuts, helping her prepare for parties, and giving her advice. He has been shocked by her injuries.
- Disco Bear: Mime doesn't seem to hold a grudge, but Disco Bear dislikes him. Mime has laughed at Disco Bear's baldness. They have occasionally stood together amicably.
- Russell: Russell fired Mime after Mime's performance as a drive-in worker killed customers. Mime has made Russell a balloon sword.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: Mime often annoys Flippy, and Fliqpy is a consistent enemy, frequently killing Mime in brutal ways. Mime tends to ignore Flippy even at his own birthday party.
- Splendid: Mime is a fan of Splendid, seeking his autograph. His desired Christmas gift was even an inflatable Splendid punching bag.
- Cro-Marmot: Mime disliked Cro-Marmot for buying a unicycle he wanted, but they've also had picnics together and Mime has made him balloon hats.
- Nutty: They rarely interact. Mime has been shocked by Nutty's antics and sold him a lollipop flute.
- Pop and Cub: Mime's only major interaction involved irritating Pop as a drive-in worker and subsequently killing him and Cub by turning up a speaker volume too high.
- Lifty & Shifty: Mime presumably dislikes the thieves, who once stole his (supposedly) imaginary safe.
Common Fates & Experiences
Mime's existence is a delicate balance of graceful performance and sudden, violent ends. While he has a decent survival rate compared to some, he still meets his demise frequently.
His deaths often involve:
- Decapitation (by scythes, axes, or bicycle wheels).
- Being crushed or smashed (by theater chairs, anchors, popcorn, or elephants).
- Being impaled (by nails, ketchup dispensers, or pens).
- Explosions (often after being forced to ingest flammable liquids).
- Being ground into paste (in blenders).
- Getting skinned.
- Being run over (by cars or airplane wheels).
- Choking (on peanuts, his first death).
- Vaporization.
Many of Mime's deaths are notably quick and relatively painless compared to other characters, though exceptions exist where he suffers greatly. His head is a frequent target in his demises.
Injuries often include:
- His skin tearing off from falling at high speeds.
- Eyes being impaled or sliced.
- Being pinned down or forcibly made to consume dangerous substances.
Occupations & Careers
Despite his silent nature, Mime has undertaken a variety of roles:
- Mime Artist (his primary and constant role)
- Hospital Entertainment
- Student / School Play Actor
- Street Performer
- Fast-Food Restaurant Employee
- Lifeguard
- Window Washer
- Animal Cleaner (at a circus)
- Flight Attendant
- Music Store Employee
- Crossing Guard
His attempts to perform these jobs are often hampered or made disastrous by his inability to speak and his reliance on easily misinterpreted mimed actions.
- #18Cro-Marmot
Keys: marmot, prehistoric, frozen, ice block, loincloth, club, silent, invulnerable, cryokinesis, skiing, ice skating, surfing, guitar, baseball, ice cream, ancient, mysterious, capable, off-screen feats, resilient
Cro-Marmot: The Frozen Enigma of a Bygone Era
Appearance & Essence
Cro-Marmot is a truly unique figure, a prehistoric marmot hailing from an era more than 65 million years past, perpetually encased in a solid block of clear ice. He is a yellow-green hue, though this coloration might be influenced by the ice itself. He sports a simple leopard skin loincloth and is always seen clutching a primitive wooden club within his frozen prison. A single tooth juts from the bottom part of his jaw. He is also one of the few characters with a full head of dark goldenrod hair.
Despite his frozen state, Cro-Marmot is surprisingly mobile and participates in a wide array of activities, a testament to his mysterious nature. He often stays in cold areas to maintain his icy shell and is frequently seen driving an ice cream truck. His home is a peculiar giant snow globe, or perhaps more accurately, a small igloo nestled within it.
In a rare glimpse into his unfrozen past (an irregular occurrence referred to as "Dino-Sore Days"), he appeared as a black-and-white character reminiscent of very old cartoons, complete with white gloves, shoes, black limbs, a larger nose, and longer ears.
Personality & Tendencies
Cro-Marmot is the strong, silent type, quite literally. Encased in ice, he offers no verbal communication. His personality is largely inferred from his actions and the situations he finds himself in. He is remarkably capable, able to perform a vast range of complex tasks off-screen, from throwing snowballs with precision to playing the electric guitar, driving, and even performing acrobatics on a trapeze – all while remaining frozen solid. This unexplained ability is a source of much of the humor and mystery surrounding him.
He seems to enjoy activities suited to his icy nature, such as skiing, ice skating, and surfing (at which he is surprisingly adept). He's also shown interest in baseball and, of course, selling ice cream.
A fascinating aspect of Cro-Marmot is his apparent power of cryokinesis, or ice manipulation. He has been observed to freeze an entire ocean almost instantly upon falling into it and can chill a room significantly just with his presence.
Despite his ancient origins and frozen state, he is considered an accomplished writer, painter, and pianist, has his own brand of foot powder, has toured on Broadway, and was even once dubbed the "sexiest Happy Tree Friend." These accolades, however, were revealed in a rather one-sided interview where he, naturally, offered no comment.
He is not a particularly popular figure among some, who find his lack of overt character and personality, similar to early perceptions of Toothy, somewhat wanting. There have even been considerations by unseen forces to release him from his ice block to make him more like the other Tree Friends.
Notable Relationships
Despite his silence and frozen state, Cro-Marmot has formed connections with many inhabitants:
- Cuddles & Toothy: Cro-Marmot appears to be good friends with both Cuddles and Toothy. He's been seen playing dress-up and baseball with them.
- Giggles & Petunia: He has had notable romantic interactions with both Giggles and Petunia. They've shown clear attraction to his surfing skills, and he has been on dates with Giggles and even seemed to fall for Petunia's frozen corpse in one instance.
- Lumpy: Their relationship is neutral to occasionally rivalrous. Lumpy has bought meat from Cro-Marmot's butcher shop and been awed by his guitar skills. However, they were rivals in a surfing competition where Lumpy mocked Cro-Marmot, prompting the marmot to freeze the ocean.
- Mime: Mime and Cro-Marmot are generally friends. They've enjoyed picnics together, Mime has made him balloon hats, and they've worked together in Lumpy's circus. However, Mime once gave Cro-Marmot a dirty look for reasons unknown.
- Russell: Cro-Marmot and Russell are good friends, playing baseball together, attending events, and participating in swimming competitions.
- Handy & Sniffles: Both have been impressed by Cro-Marmot's guitar playing.
- Nutty: Their main interaction involved Nutty buying ice cream from Cro-Marmot. He also sold meat to Nutty.
- Pop & Cub: Pop has bought ice cream from Cro-Marmot on multiple occasions. He may have interacted off-screen with Cub at his ice cream truck.
- Flaky: They've waited at bus stops together and performed at the circus. Flaky once got annoyed with him, mistakenly thinking he was responsible for Lumpy hitting her.
- The Mole: They've been in perilous situations together, with The Mole sometimes standing on Cro-Marmot. The Mole has also acted as security, checking Cro-Marmot for contraband, and once awarded him a surfing trophy by ramming it into his ice block.
- Lifty & Shifty: Like most, Cro-Marmot is an enemy to the thieving raccoon brothers, who once kidnapped him to use his ice block to stay cool.
- Flippy/Fliqpy: He has never directly interacted with either side of Flippy but likely fears Fliqpy, having witnessed his rampages. He was once hit by Good Flippy's vehicle.
- Splendid: Cro-Marmot seems indifferent to Splendid, unlike many others. He was seen selling his own merchandise during one of Splendid's conventions and was once annoyed by Splendid for occupying a phone booth.
- Dinosaurs: In his unfrozen prehistoric past, dinosaurs were clearly his enemies.
Common Fates & Experiences
Cro-Marmot is extraordinarily resilient, largely due to the protective nature of his ice block. He rarely dies, and many of his supposed deaths are debatable. When he does meet his end, it usually involves extreme heat that melts his ice or overwhelming disasters like explosions or collapsing structures.
His "injuries" are also infrequent and often involve his ice block cracking slightly rather than direct harm to his person. The most significant "injury" was being frozen in the block of ice in the first place, a permanent state in the current era. In his unfrozen past, he suffered a more conventional (and gory) injury when kicked by a dinosaur, causing his intestines to fall out.
He often survives situations where others around him perish, sometimes even being an oblivious, indirect cause of their demise.
Occupations & Careers
Despite being a prehistoric marmot encased in ice, Cro-Marmot has held a surprising number of occupations:
- Ice Cream Man (his most frequent role)
- Butcher
- Acrobat
- Surfer
- Auditioning Guitarist
- Comic Con Merchandise Seller
- Ticket Seller
- Swimmer
His ability to perform these jobs while frozen remains one of the great, unexplained wonders of his existence.

The Gentle Bear: Flippy
Appearance & Essence (Flippy): Flippy is a light green bear, distinguished by the military dog tags he wears around his neck and a green beret adorned with a checkered crest atop his head. His fur is a soft light green, with spring green ears and honeydew-colored soles. In his calm state, his eyes are a normal, friendly shape. He is a retired (or perhaps on extended leave) veteran soldier from the Weaponized Animal Regiment (The W.A.R.), where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. His attire and mannerisms often resemble those of Army Special Forces.
Personality & Tendencies (Flippy): In his default state, Flippy is one of the kindest, most sociable, and gentle individuals one could meet. He enjoys peaceful activities like tea parties, reading books, and the quiet serenity of silence. He's often seen participating in friendly activities with other residents, like playing hide-and-seek or going to the movies. He is generally a friendly and approachable individual, seeking camaraderie and calm. He appears to be an extremely heavy sleeper, often difficult to rouse. He also has a known allergic reaction to peanuts (or possibly venison), and it's rumored, though unconfirmed, that he's also allergic to chocolate and candy corn.
The Dark Reflection: Fliqpy
The "Flip-Out" - Emergence of Fliqpy: Flippy suffers from a severe case of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from his harrowing experiences in the W.A.R., particularly from witnessing the deaths of his comrades and being held captive. This trauma has also likely led to a form of dissociative identity disorder. When exposed to certain triggers – anything that reminds him of war, such as gunshot-like sounds (even a champagne bottle popping), crackling campfires, flashing lights, or even intense anger or stress – he undergoes a terrifying transformation. This is colloquially known as "flipping out."
Appearance & Essence (Fliqpy): When Fliqpy takes over, Flippy's physical appearance changes dramatically. His eyes often turn a menacing yellow-green (though other colors like green or even light blue have been observed), his pupils constrict or disappear into a non-Pac-Man shape, his voice deepens from a cute squeak to a guttural, evil tone, and his teeth become sharp, fang-like. He maintains Flippy's beret and dog tags but embodies pure, unadulterated aggression.
Personality & Tendencies (Fliqpy): Fliqpy is the violent, aggressive alter ego of Flippy and is arguably the most dangerous individual in their world. When in control, Fliqpy operates under the delusion that he is still in the W.A.R., perceiving everyone around him as enemy soldiers. He shows no mercy and kills with brutal efficiency and often sadistic creativity. He is a master of improvisation, turning everyday objects into deadly weapons, and is obsessed with creating Viet Cong-inspired booby traps. He always seems to have a bowie knife and grenades at his disposal. Flippy has no memory of Fliqpy's rampages. While Fliqpy is a ruthless killer, it's suggested he doesn't realize he's harming innocent civilians, truly believing he's fighting enemies.
The Struggle Within
There have been instances where Flippy has become aware of his violent alter ego and the destruction Fliqpy causes. He once sought psychiatric help from Lumpy in an attempt to cure his condition. During this period, Fliqpy manifested as a separate entity in Flippy's mind, leading to an internal battle. For a brief time, it seemed Flippy had triumphed and cured himself, but Fliqpy eventually resurfaced, indicating the struggle is ongoing. There have been rare moments where Flippy has resisted "flipping out" or even snapped out of Fliqpy's control, particularly when reminded of his own dream sequences or due to the intervention of others (like Flaky's scream).
Notable Relationships
Flippy/Fliqpy's interactions are drastically different depending on which persona is dominant.
- Flaky:
- Flippy's side: Flippy considers Flaky a good friend. They've played hide-and-seek, camped together, and he has shown concern for her when she's in danger (when he's sane).
- Fliqpy's side: In earlier encounters, Fliqpy killed Flaky without hesitation, like any other "enemy." He even once used her as a weapon. However, in later instances, Fliqpy has seemed to pointedly ignore or spare Flaky, even when she was vulnerable.
- Flaky's side: Initially, Flaky saw Flippy as a friend and even planned a surprise party for him, seemingly unaware of his disorder. Later, she developed a profound phobia of him (both personas), leading to hallucinations of him killing her and even causing her to preemptively attack him out of fear.
- Cuddles, Giggles, Toothy:
- Flippy's side: He is generally friendly and sociable with them, engaging in normal activities.
- Fliqpy's side: They are frequent, indiscriminate victims of Fliqpy's rampages.
- Lumpy:
- Flippy's side: Flippy has sought Lumpy's help as a psychiatrist.
- Fliqpy's side: Lumpy is a primary target, though Lumpy has also, on rare occasions (often through sheer incompetence), managed to kill Fliqpy.
- Sniffles & Nutty:
- Flippy's side: Friendly.
- Fliqpy's side: Victims. Sniffles and Nutty have shown awareness of Flippy's flip-outs and have tried to escape when they sense he's becoming agitated.
- Military Comrades (Sneaky, Mouse Ka-Boom):
- Flippy's side: Allies in the W.A.R. Tragically, Flippy accidentally killed both Sneaky and Mouse Ka-Boom during his very first flip-out while trying to retrieve his knife.
- Tiger General & Tiger Soldiers:
- Fliqpy's side: These are his perceived enemies from the W.A.R. He fights them ruthlessly. During one such encounter, Fliqpy lost his hands to the Tiger General but somehow reattached them later.
Common Fates & Experiences
Flippy (Normal State): Flippy himself rarely dies. When he does, it usually involves vehicles (being run over by trucks), machinery (shredded by helicopter rotors), or explosions. He has also been killed by Lumpy. He is an extremely heavy sleeper. His injuries often stem from his allergic reactions or from the chaos Fliqpy initiates.
Fliqpy (Flipped-Out State): Fliqpy is incredibly difficult to kill and rarely dies. His deaths have involved:
- Ramming his own truck into a tree.
- Being killed by Toothy biting his zombified brain, causing an explosion.
- Dying in a larger school explosion.
- Being killed by a claw machine.
- Being impaled and disemboweled on a flagpole by Lumpy.
- Being struck by lightning and disintegrating.
Fliqpy is a master of inflicting death. His methods are incredibly varied and brutal, often involving:
- Stabbing, slicing, and disembowelment with his bowie knife or improvised sharp objects.
- Using firearms or explosives (grenades).
- Strangulation (with intestines, balloon strings).
- Blunt force trauma.
- Creative use of everyday items (straws, ketchup bottles, movie projectors, pencil sharpeners, spinning chairs).
- Elaborate booby traps.
- Decapitation.
- Drowning.
- Electrocution.
- Burning.
Occupations and Careers
- Veteran Soldier: His primary and defining role.
- Nuclear Waste Trucker: (As Fliqpy, during an episode)
- Carny: (As Flippy, briefly)
- Librarian: (As Flippy)
His military background is the most dominant aspect of his identity, whether he is the gentle Flippy or the terrifying Fliqpy.
- Flaky:
- #20Splendid
Keys: flying squirrel, turquoise, superhero, red mask, flight, laser eyes, ice breath, super strength, super speed, invulnerable, well-intentioned, incompetent, destructive, oblivious, reluctant hero, journalist, rescuer, Kryptonut
Splendid: The Supremely Powerful, Accidentally Destructive Flying Squirrel
Appearance & Essence
Splendid is an aqua blue, heroic flying squirrel, instantly recognizable by the distinctive red mask he wears around his head. His fur is a striking turquoise, with light powder blue patagium (his gliding wings/membranes) and a matching oval marking on his torso. His tail is a light dodger blue, and his ears a light periwinkle.
He is the very image of a hero, often seen swooping in (or at least attempting to) when he hears cries for help. Beyond his heroic persona, Splendid also leads a surprisingly domestic life, sometimes found engaging in simple housework, baking, sewing, or reading. He has also been known to adopt other guises, such as that of a newspaper journalist for "The Daily Acorn" (where he dons eyeglasses, a necktie, and a fedora, though comically still wears his red mask underneath), and has even taken on the roles of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
Personality & Tendencies
Splendid embodies the archetype of a superhero, ever vigilant and seemingly ready to leap into action to save citizens. However, there's a profound and tragic irony to his existence: his attempts to rescue others almost invariably lead to their unintentional, and often gruesome, demise, along with widespread collateral damage. This is largely due to his staggering ignorance of his own immense power and a consistent obliviousness to the devastating consequences of his actions. He frequently flies away from a "rescue" without confirming the safety of those he intended to help.
While usually driven by a desire to do good, Splendid can sometimes appear reluctant to engage in heroics, preferring his quieter pursuits. There have been rare but notable instances where his actions seemed less accidental and more deliberately harmful, particularly towards characters like The Mole or the thieving duo, Lifty and Shifty.
He is extraordinarily durable and highly invulnerable to most forms of harm, making his own death a very rare occurrence. His primary, and perhaps only, significant weakness is a peculiar, glowing green, acorn-shaped mineral. Exposure to this "Kryptonut" causes him to lose his powers, become extremely nauseated, and suffer from a severe stomach flu.
Splendid also has an evil, red-furred counterpart named Splendont, a powerful being who once managed to defeat him in a direct confrontation. It's known that Splendid can call upon a team of other animal superheroes, the "Supremely Sensational Stupendously Spectacular Super Squad," for assistance, though their effectiveness is also questionable.
Known Powers
Splendid possesses an array of extraordinary abilities, making him one of the most powerful beings in existence:
- Levitation and Flight: He can effortlessly soar through the skies.
- Time Manipulation: He has demonstrated the ability to turn back time by causing the entire world to rotate in reverse.
- Super Strength: Capable of incredible feats of physical power.
- Super Speed: He can move at speeds far exceeding any normal creature.
- Enhanced Lung Capacity/Super Breath: His breath can be a powerful force, capable of various effects.
- Heat Vision: He can emit powerful beams of intense heat from his eyes.
- Ice Breath: He can exhale blasts of freezing cold.
- Shock Wave-Inducing Voice: His vocalizations can create powerful sonic effects.
- Super Hearing: He can detect sounds from great distances, often cries for help.
- Invulnerability: He is resistant to most forms of physical harm and injury.
- Telescopic Vision: He can see objects clearly from extreme distances.
- Unlimited Stamina: He appears capable of sustained exertion without tiring.
- Powerful Flatulence: On occasion, even his bodily gasses have exhibited extraordinary force.
Notable Relationships
Splendid's interactions are almost universally defined by his role as a rescuer, though these encounters are typically disastrous for the other party.
- Giggles: She is frequently the "damsel in distress" whom Splendid attempts to save. Despite his invariably fatal interventions, they are considered friends, and Giggles often seems happy to see him arrive.
- Cuddles: Splendid has made numerous attempts to save Cuddles, always with catastrophic results. Cuddles, even when grievously injured by Splendid, has been known to entrust him with tasks, highlighting a strange level of trust or perhaps desperation.
- Toothy: Toothy is a significant admirer of Splendid, cheering him on and even dressing like him. Splendid, in turn, has attempted to save Toothy and seemed impressed by his singing.
- Lumpy: Splendid has rescued Lumpy, who has shown gratitude. Lumpy has also employed Splendid (as a journalist) and entrusted him with important duties (like delivering presents when Lumpy, as Santa, was dying from Splendid's accidental intervention).
- Petunia: Another frequent "beneficiary" of Splendid's destructive heroism. He once gifted her a diamond (by crushing coal in his hand, breaking her fingers in the process), which she seemed to appreciate despite the injury.
- The Mole: Splendid harbors a clear animosity towards The Mole. He has killed The Mole with no apparent remorse and was visibly annoyed when partnered with him on a newspaper assignment, taking measures to prevent The Mole from exposing his secret identity.
- Handy: Splendid attempted to save Handy and briefly mourned his failure. Handy has been seen among Splendid's admirers.
- Sniffles: A fan who eagerly sought Splendid's autograph, only to be accidentally killed by Splendid during the act of signing.
- Mime: Similar to Sniffles, Mime was accidentally killed while Splendid was signing an autograph for him. Splendid has also shown horror at Mime's death in another instance and, as Santa, gave him a gift.
- Lifty and Shifty: These two are generally considered his enemies, and he has fought them. However, they have also been seen attending his public appearances, suggesting a complex dynamic.
- Pop: Pop appears to be irritated by Splendid, though Splendid himself seems oblivious to this and has even interviewed Pop for the newspaper.
- Cub: Splendid was shocked when he realized he had unknowingly killed Cub. He has also interacted neutrally with Cub, waving to him.
- Cro-Marmot: Their primary interaction involved Splendid being annoyed that Cro-Marmot was occupying a phone booth Splendid needed for a quick change.
- Nutty, Flaky, Disco Bear, Russell: These characters are generally fans and have been seen attending Splendid's speeches, but they have had few direct, meaningful interactions with him.
- Splendont: His evil, red-furred doppelgänger and arch-nemesis. Splendont is a formidable opponent who once bested Splendid in combat.
Common Fates & Experiences
- As a Victim: Splendid rarely suffers death or serious injury. His known deaths are exceptionally few: one was allegedly in a massive schoolhouse explosion (though his survival of even larger blasts makes this debatable), and the other was a very graphic demise resulting from overexposure to the green, acorn-shaped "Kryptonut," which caused him to vomit his internal organs and his head to eventually explode. Injuries are similarly uncommon but have included illness from the Kryptonut, crashing into the moon, facial damage, having teeth punched out by Splendont, and minor burns.
- As a Perpetrator: Splendid is an engine of mass destruction. His attempts at heroism almost invariably result in the brutal, accidental deaths of those he is trying to save and anyone else in the vicinity. His methods of unintentional killing are as varied as his powers: decapitation via super-speed flight, crushing, burning with laser vision, freezing with ice breath, and countless other creative catastrophes stemming from his inability to control his immense abilities.
Occupations & Roles Undertaken
Despite his primary calling, Splendid has been seen in a few other capacities:
- Superhero: His main and most visible role.
- Newspaper Journalist/Reporter: His "secret identity" working for The Daily Acorn.
- Comic Con Merchandise Seller/Star: He has manned booths selling his own merchandise.
- Santa Claus: He has taken on the role of delivering presents.
- Easter Bunny: He has also distributed Easter eggs.

Lammy: The Sweet Sheep with a Sinister Secret (or Friend)
Appearance & Essence
Lammy is a charming orchid-purple sheep, distinguished by her fluffy, wooly white hair and tail, which perfectly match the cozy white sweater she almost always wears. A small, neat purple bow adorns her hair, adding to her gentle appearance. Her ears are a fuchsia hue, and her soles are a soft blue-violet. She speaks only in "baa"s, a clear indicator of her sheep nature.
At first glance, Lammy appears to be a happy, cheerful, and kind individual, with a personality much like her friends Giggles and Petunia. She delights in innocent pastimes such as playing with dolls and hosting tea parties. She also seems to enjoy a game of poker with friends.
Personality & Tendencies
Lammy's gentle exterior belies a complex and often troubling reality, centered around her constant companion, a green pickle named Mr. Pickels. While Lammy herself seems sweet and harmless, terrible and violent events frequently occur around her, with Mr. Pickels often appearing to be the culprit. Lammy is usually quick to blame Mr. Pickels for these gruesome acts. However, to everyone else, Mr. Pickels appears to be nothing more than an ordinary, inanimate pickle. This leads others to believe Lammy is crazy or delusional, and she often finds herself framed for the very crimes she attributes to her pickle friend.
The true nature of Mr. Pickels is a profound mystery. It's debated whether he is a truly sentient, malevolent being or a figment of Lammy's imagination. If the latter is true, it suggests Lammy might suffer from a serious mental condition, perhaps schizophrenia, where she experiences vivid hallucinations and delusions, manifesting as Mr. Pickels' violent actions. In this scenario, Lammy herself would be committing these acts, unconsciously using Mr. Pickels as a psychological shield to protect her own mind from the horrifying reality of her actions. The presence of a crack sometimes seen on Lammy's skull might even be a clue to the origin of this potential condition.
Despite the chaos and blame that follows them, Lammy is never seen without Mr. Pickels and clearly values his company, even reacting positively when he "visited" her in prison. This suggests a deep, albeit deeply dysfunctional, bond. If Mr. Pickels is real, their relationship is one of twisted loyalty, where both seem to prioritize their own self-preservation when things go wrong, yet they remain inseparable.
Notable Relationships
Lammy is a relatively new face, and her interactions are heavily colored by the presence and actions of Mr. Pickels.
- Mr. Pickels: Her most significant and defining relationship. They are best friends and never apart. Lammy sees him as a living, albeit mischievous and violent, companion. Whether he is a real entity or a manifestation of her psyche, he is central to her existence. She often tries to stop his "bad" behavior but is ultimately unsuccessful and usually takes the blame.
- Petunia: Arguably Lammy's closest friend (besides Mr. Pickels). They've shared tea parties, and Petunia has been a guest at Lammy's for poker. Unfortunately, Petunia has also been a frequent victim of the violence surrounding Lammy and Mr. Pickels.
- Giggles: Lammy seems to like Giggles and has invited her over to play poker. Giggles has also fallen victim to the chaos that ensues when Mr. Pickels is "active."
- Flaky: Their relationship is somewhat neutral. Flaky has been horrified by events she witnessed involving Lammy but has also attended poker parties at Lammy's house. Mr. Pickels has targeted Flaky.
- Lumpy: Lammy and Lumpy are generally not on good terms. Lumpy has arrested Lammy (tasing her in the eye in the process) and has also been responsible for her death.
- Handy: Lammy unintentionally ran Handy over while seemingly trying to stop Mr. Pickels, who was "driving" Handy's truck.
- Nutty & Sniffles: Lammy has been seen at the park with Nutty and Sniffles, indicating a friendly acquaintance. Mr. Pickels did not appear to target them during this outing.
- Cuddles & Toothy: She has had minimal, neutral interactions with Cuddles and Toothy, mostly observing events alongside them.
- Truffles: They were rivals in a "Vote or Die" competition, suggesting an antagonistic relationship.
Common Fates & Experiences
For a relatively new arrival, Lammy has already experienced her share of gruesome ends, often involving her head, some form of heat, or the actions of Lumpy. Her deaths have included:
- Being crushed like a soda can.
- Being stabbed in the head by cement shards.
- Having her face and hand blown off by an explosion.
- A debatable death involving either Splendid's powerful flatulence or Petunia setting the world on fire.
- A deleted scene showed her face exploding from a rocket's flames.
Injuries often include damage to her eyes or brain. The recurring theme is that misfortune follows Lammy, usually with Mr. Pickels at the center of the suspicion.
Mr. Pickels: The Malevolent Moustachioed Pickle
Appearance & Essence
Mr. Pickels is, to most observers, simply a green pickled cucumber. However, in Lammy's perception (and possibly in reality), he is an animate being. In this "living" state, he sports a dapper black top hat and a distinguished moustache. He is never seen to speak. He is the only non-animal main character in this world.
Personality & Tendencies
Mr. Pickels is a figure of pure, unadulterated malevolence, if he is indeed a sentient entity. He appears to delight in causing mischief, chaos, and outright murder. His actions are often directed at those who interact with Lammy, suggesting a jealous or possessive nature. He seems to want all of Lammy's attention for himself, systematically eliminating any perceived rivals for her affection or friendship.
He is incredibly manipulative. After committing heinous acts, he reverts to the appearance of an ordinary, inanimate pickle, leaving Lammy to take the blame. This calculated deception points to a cunning and psychopathic mind. He has been seen taking pleasure in "killing" inanimate objects like sock puppets and teddy bears, further underscoring his violent tendencies.
The core debate surrounding Mr. Pickels is his very existence. Is he a real, living pickle with a penchant for murder, or is he a manifestation of a dark, repressed side of Lammy's personality? If he is Lammy's creation, he represents her deepest, most violent impulses, shielded from her conscious mind.
If he is real, his relationship with Lammy is one of codependency and mutual self-preservation, even if it means throwing the other under the bus. Despite the trouble he causes Lammy, she remains fiercely loyal to him, always keeping him by her side.
Notable Relationships
- Lammy: His sole companion and, in a twisted sense, his best friend. He is fiercely attached to her, though this attachment manifests as violence towards anyone else who gets close to Lammy. He consistently frames Lammy for his crimes, yet she never abandons him.
- Petunia, Giggles, Flaky: These individuals, who have shown friendship towards Lammy, have all been targets of Mr. Pickels' violence. He appears particularly hostile towards other female characters who might be seen as Lammy's friends.
- Handy: Mr. Pickels "drove" Handy's truck and ran him over. It's unclear if Handy was a specific target or merely in the way.
- Lumpy: Mr. Pickels has been eaten/bitten by Lumpy (in Lumpy's vampire form), and Lumpy was also responsible for one of Lammy's deaths, potentially making Lumpy an enemy.
- Cuddles, Nutty, Sniffles: He has been in their presence without overtly attacking them, possibly because Lammy was holding him or the situation didn't allow for his usual "activities."
Common Fates & Experiences
As a pickle (animate or not), Mr. Pickels is often at the center of extreme violence, though he is usually the perpetrator, not the victim. His own "deaths" have been few and somewhat debatable:
- Having his head bitten off by a vampiric Lumpy.
- Potentially being cooked or destroyed when the world was set on fire.
His primary role is to enact violence and then disappear, leaving Lammy to face the consequences. He is a master of causing chaos and then appearing as an innocent bystander (or, more accurately, an innocent vegetable).
