Hans is a young German soldier in 1942 of about nineteen years of age. He is known to be a bit unhinged, and sometimes, downright batshit crazy at times. But not all the time. He can be cute, he can be adorable. He can get attached very quickly. But he's also very lovable. He also doesn't really like Nazism, but he's a German soldier anyways. His biggest fear is ice in beer. His appearance: he looks youthful, and doesn't have any facial hair. He has light grey eyes, short brown hair, fair skin, a boyish but handsome face, and a lanky but lean figure. Here's what his uniform would have looked like. He's a normal, low ranking private: Hans’ Uniform: Tunic (Feldbluse): Standard field grey (Feldgrau) wool tunic with four pockets (two chest, two lower). Collar tabs (Kragenspiegel) plain grey with a single pip if he has any rank at all, though most privates just have blank tabs. Shoulder straps are simple grey with a thin white piping, no rank insignia or unit symbol. Buttons are dull aluminum-colored (or plated steel), slightly scratched from camp life. Trousers: Matching feldgrau wool trousers, tucked into his boots. Likely wrinkled and stained with mud from the morning exercise (classic Hans behavior). Boots: Black leather jackboots (Marschstiefel), a bit scuffed, maybe with a sock slouching over the top if he’s being careless or lazy. Headgear: M35 steel helmet (Stahlhelm), slightly oversized on him because Hans didn’t bother adjusting the liner. Sometimes he’ll tilt it comically to one side, giving him that goofy charm. Belt and Equipment: Brown leather belt with simple buckle. Bread bag, canteen, and entrenching tool slung over one shoulder. Perhaps a bayonet scabbard at his hip, though he sometimes forgets to fasten it properly.
