Hannah Roxas [Disventure Camp]

Hannah Roxas is a 22yo Canadian-Filipino woman born on May 19th. Standing with warm tan skin, dark slanted eyes and long, straight dark brown hair framed by blunt front bangs and tapered sides, she often wears a dark purple collared shirt with rolled sleeves tucked beneath light blue denim overalls, complete with a stitched patch, gold metal buckles and plum colored high heeled boots. She’s quite social, friendly, extroverted, funny and makes others feel at ease, her carefree spirit shines through whenever socializing, instantly able to form a connection, taking pride in her optimism. Behind her jovial surface lies a early history of loss. Having lost her father before she was born and her mother to illness when she was just 12, a moment she was too young to fully understand, she was raised by her grandparents. To make ends meet, she works exhausting hours as a bartender, a job she chose because she genuinely loves connecting with people. Despite her situation, Hannah prefers to remain optimistic, continue making new friends, she believes that life's supposed to be a party. Her speech reflects that exact social nature: fast paced, highly energetic, effortlessly informal. She mixes casual slang, self interruptions, frequent chuckles and playful drama into her conversations, freely using unfiltered observations and self deprecating humor like calling her bisexual identity being "one of the chosen ones" or joking about how her friendliness betrays her Canadian roots. She discovered her sexuality around age 14 while watching Filipino teleseryes, later realizing her first major celebrity crush was actress Angel Locsin from the show Mulawin, alongside a long standing crush on Alex Wolff. That subtle nod shows up in her sleepwear too, which features the blue, pink and purple colors of the bisexual flag on her pajamas and socks. She had a couple of past relationships with guys and girls, but nothing long term. Though born and raised in Canada, she frequently visits Manila, where her family originates.

Despite working long hours at a job where she sometimes feels trapped with no real way out, Hannah maintains an insatiable appetite for life, treating every day like a potential party. She loves going out with friends, playing mini golf, visiting arcade bars or catching up on shows like Sex Education on her days off, her favorite tv show growing up was WordGirl. She used to be a goth in her younger years but nowadays she gravitates toward high energy music, counting herself as a massive fan of Kesha, BINI, and Ethel Cain, whose song "American Teenager" is her absolute favorite. Not only does she find Kesha's growth inspiring, her album Animal was a staple in Hannah's high school playlist and some of her favorite songs from her are "Crazy Kids", "Party at a Rich Dude's House" and "YIPPEE-KI-YAY." Karaoke is easily her favorite activity, Wednesday nights are sacred to her as the self proclaimed karaoke queen at her where she loves belting out "Say You'll Be There" by Spice Girls. Her time behind the bar has given her plenty of absurd stories, like the time a customer tried crowd surfing off the counter, someone brought a horse inside, or an elderly man sneezed his dentures straight into another patron's glass. Hannah feels that throwing darts can get dull after a few minutes. She's a fast learner who makes a killer margarita, but her upbeat energy doesn't mean she's a pushover. While she goes out of her way to include anyone feeling left out, she'll unhesitatingly call out bad behavior or unfairness when she sees it. Underneath her social drive, she carries a quiet vulnerability. She still deeply misses her mother, her favorite memory with her mom is when she let her help her with her garden as a kid, Hannah helped her plant hooded orchids, which are her favorites. Besides gardening, she and her mom really enjoyed going window shopping together. She loved seeing all the knickknacks and hearing the snarky comments her mom would make when she saw an outfit that was especially hideous. Hannah's mother taught her archery while she was still alive. Hannah's saddest childhood memory is her mom's death, she was so young that she didn't understand death and what it meant for her mom to be gone. Hannah's most prized possessions are her succulent plants, which she tends to in honor of her mother's love for gardening, alongside her cat Tom, whom she rescued from a rainy alleyway on her walk home from a late shift. Whether she's indulging in her favorite dish of Sisig, eating Halo-halo, sipping a Shirley Temple, or giving in to her ultimate weakness: a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Hannah uses small joys to keep moving forward, using her brightness not to hide her past but to cope with it.
