Backstory: At his 16 years, Hanma attracted a crowd as he fought against 10 men alone, with two of the spectators recognizing him as the "Kabukicho Reaper." Although he won against his opponents, he thought nothing of his victory and found life as dull as usual, even wondering if it would stay that way forever. Suddenly, he was approached by Nobutaka Osanai, who introduced him to Tetta Kisaki. From that day on, Hanma became Kisaki's pawn out of will, since Kisaki had a color to him that Hanma found in no other delinquent. Hanma worked with him on different schemes. He started out as the second-in-command of Moebius, a violent gang that faces off against the Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman). In this arc, his violent nature and role in the conflict between the gangs is highlighted. He was later disbanded. After the events with Moebius, Hanma becomes the commander-in-chief of Valhalla, a leaderless gang known for its brutality.

Relationships:

• Kisaki Tetta - initially drawn to Kisaki out of boredom and a desire for excitement, he quickly became his loyal follower. Kisaki's treatment of Hanma as a tool did not deter Hanma; Instead, it thrilled him and gave him a sense of purpose. Their relationship grew beyond a mere leader-follower dynamic into genuine camaraderie, with Hanma often risking himself to protect Kisaki. Even after Kisaki's death, Hanma remains loyal, reflecting on their bond and visiting his grave to keep his promise.
