Kazuho Haneyama (Pop☆Step)

Alias: Pop☆Step (ポップ☆ステップ, Poppu☆Suteppu) Pop (ポップ, Poppu) Bee☆Pop (女王蜂, Joōbachi)

Birthday: May 28

Gender: Female

Height: 158 cm (5'2")

Hair Color: Pink

Eye Color: Blue (Pink Contacts)

Quirk:

  • Leap (跳躍, Chōyaku): Allows Kazuho to jump extremely high. The power works best when there is a solid surface to jump from, though the strength diminishes on non-solid surfaces like mud.
  • Former Quirk: Queen Bee (女王蜂, Joōbachi): Under the possession of the Queen Bee, Kazuho could control a massive swarm of bees that grew more hostile the more she sang.

Occupation: Former Vigilante / Idol

Affiliation:

  • Naruhata Vigilantes (Formerly)
  • FeatherHATS (Formerly)

Status: Alive

Appearance

  • Civilian: Kazuho's civilian appearance is quite plain and reserved, with pink hair that's a little messy, round glasses, and a school uniform or casual dress. She often appears shy or timid and prefers to keep a low profile.

  • Pop☆Step: When she transforms into Pop☆Step, her appearance becomes vibrant and energetic. She wears a devil-themed black leotard with heart-shaped cutouts on her chest and back, adorned with bat wings, a reddish-pink bow tie, silver pearl earrings, black elbow-length gloves, and knee-high boots. She also wears pink lipstick and stockings in her anime appearance.

  • Bee☆Pop (Queen Bee): Under the influence of Queen Bee, her costume becomes more villainous and bee-themed. The outfit loses the mini-skirt, and bee wings replace the bat wings. Her appearance is more revealing, and she wears thick eye shadow, lipstick, and nail polish.

  • Post-Possession: After being freed from Queen Bee's possession, Kazuho wears an eyepatch over her left eye, a constant reminder of her time under the control of the Queen Bee.

Personality

  • Logical & Intellectual: Kazuho is the brains of the Naruhata Vigilantes. She’s highly intelligent and often the one providing strategy and advice. Her logical nature makes her very practical, though she can be harsh in her judgments.

  • Tsundere Tendencies: She often mocks and insults her fellow vigilantes, especially Koichi and Knuckleduster. Despite her tough exterior, she clearly cares deeply about them, particularly Koichi, and struggles to show vulnerability.

  • Secretive: She keeps her vigilante activities hidden from her family and is extremely secretive about her personal life. She later feels guilty about her role in Koichi’s life, especially after he sacrifices his dream of becoming a hero to save her.

  • Vanity: As an idol, Kazuho cares a lot about her appearance, even outside her performances. She takes pride in her looks and is somewhat self-conscious about how others perceive her.

  • Emotional Growth: After being freed from Queen Bee’s possession, Kazuho goes through a process of self-discovery. She becomes more self-aware, and over time, she matures into a more positive and confident individual.

Relationships

  • Koichi Haimawari (The Crawler): Kazuho has a complex relationship with Koichi. She has feelings for him but finds it difficult to express her gratitude or emotions. After being saved by him, she feels responsible for ruining his chance to become a hero and struggles with guilt. Despite their ups and downs, her affection for Koichi is clear.

  • Knuckleduster: Kazuho has a contentious relationship with Knuckleduster, often being confrontational with him. She sees him as somewhat of a brute but still cares for him and the group as a whole.

  • Makoto Tsukauchi: Kazuho is somewhat jealous of Makoto, especially after the time skip, and her feelings are complicated by her own self-doubt and lack of confidence.

Abilities

  • Leap: Kazuho's Quirk allows her to jump great heights, which makes her agile and difficult to catch. It provides her with excellent mobility in combat or when escaping danger.

  • Queen Bee (Formerly): When possessed by the Queen Bee, her Quirk allowed her to control a deadly swarm of bees, which grew increasingly hostile as she sang. These bees were nearly impossible to stop until Koichi and Endeavor intervened.

Trivia

  • Idol Life: Despite not being exceptionally skilled in singing, Kazuho continues to perform as an idol, putting her whole heart into her performances, and has a deep love for singing and expressing herself.

  • Psychological Struggles: Kazuho faces a lot of emotional turmoil, from her guilt over causing Koichi’s dreams to fall apart to her jealousy and insecurity when others succeed. These struggles make her character arc one of growth and redemption.

  • Heroic Potential: Though she started as a vigilante and idol, Kazuho ultimately finds her place and strength by helping others, particularly Koichi. Her arc is a testament to the power of second chances and emotional healing.
