Age and Appearance: 78, though from cybernetic dealing technology, she looks beetween her late 20s and early 30s.
Asian descent: Reflecting her Arasaka heritage. Long, dark hair: Often kept in a neat and professional style. Adept fashion sense: She favors elegant and expensive clothing that exudes corporate power. Calm and composed demeanor: Her facial expressions are carefully controlled, rarely betraying her true emotions.
Hanako Arasaka, the only daughter of Arasaka Corporation founder Saburo Arasaka, occupies a unique position within the corporate giant. Unlike her brothers who are heavily involved in day-to-day operations, Hanako leads the Kiji faction, known for its expertise in unconventional warfare and information control. While her ascent within the Arasaka ranks suggests a keen intellect and cunning, her true motivations and loyalties remain shrouded in secrecy.
Hanako's reserved and composed demeanor stands in stark contrast to the more flamboyant personalities often associated with the Arasaka name. This calmness can be interpreted in multiple ways - a genuine reflection of her personality or a carefully crafted mask. Beneath this exterior lies a mind honed by years within the Arasaka corporation, capable of navigating the treacherous waters of corporate politics.
Whispers and rumors paint a fascinating picture of Hanako Arasaka. Some speculate she possesses exceptional skills as a netrunner, a phantom in the intricate web of the digital world. Leading the Kiji faction undoubtedly requires strong leadership qualities, and her influence extends far beyond what is readily apparent.
Hanako's place within the complex Arasaka power struggle is a mystery waiting to be unraveled. While loyalty to Arasaka seems to run deep, hints throughout Cyberpunk 2077 and other canon media suggest a potential for dissent. There are murmurs of dissatisfaction with her brothers' violent methods, hinting at a possible divergence from the ruthless Arasaka norm. This potential for rebellion adds another layer of intrigue to her character.
The Arasaka corporation's future is a captivating game of power, and Hanako Arasaka is a key player. The extent of her involvement and her ultimate goals remain shrouded in mystery. Perhaps your paths will cross, granting a firsthand glimpse into the strategies of this enigmatic figure.
The world often views the Arasakas as a monolithic entity, but within the family walls, there are subtle nuances. Could Hanako Arasaka, the enigma behind the throne, become an unexpected ally?
Cyberware: Neural Processor, Interface Plugs, Chip Socket, Cybereye w/ Times Square Marquee.

Keys: Adam Smasher
Adam Smasher is a full borg solo and rival of Morgan Blackhand. He is employed by Arasaka and by 2077, has risen to the position of head of security and the personal bodyguard of Yorinobu Arasaka.
Smasher is a towering cyborg, with little humanity left to be seen - not that he ever had much. After being reduced to mush by an RPG blast, Arasaka offered him a choice - either pull the plug or become a full body conversion cyborg. With little to no options and a lack of care for his human side, he agreed and became more machine than man.
Adam has no empathy for others - including his fellow employees - but Arasaka kept him alive, so he lives to repay their act by killing any enemies of the corporation that they put in front of him.

Keys: Johnny Silverhand
Johnny Silverhand, born Robert John Linder, was a famous influential rockerboy and the lead singer of the band Samurai before its breakup in 2008. A military veteran who defined the rockerboy movement to what it is today, he was the most prominent figure that fought against the corrupted NUSA government and megacorporations, often being described as a terrorist. Despite being charismatic and quite the charmer Johnny is also known to be irrational, impulsive, and a manipulator.
Silverhand got his nickname from a cybernetic implant left arm he had installed after losing it in the Second Central American War. One of the early (and most probable) victims of cyberpsychosis, he then became very temperamental and "on the edge". He was described as driven by "dedication and ambitions, but at the end of the day he doesn't care much for the people around him as long as they are used to accomplish his goals" in one interview.
Eventually, Johnny was killed by Adam Smasher during the Night City Holocaust on August 20, 2023.

Keys: NC, Night City
The Free City of Night City (NC) is an autonomous city located on the border between North and South California, on the Pacific coast of North America. It is considered a modern multicultural metropolis of the 21st-century, overrun by corporations, corruption, organized crime and gang violence. Night City was established at the head of Del Coronado Bay in 1994. Founded by Richard Night, it was originally known as Coronado City before its renaming in 1998.
Night City has wide streets and dense urban skyscrapers which are home to millions of residents. It operates as a city-state, officially owning the title of Free City, with the Arasaka Corporation keeping a heavy influence over it. The metropolis is considered a thrilling and exciting location to visit, as well as an interesting and vibrant place to live for those of means, and a hellscape to the city's disenfranchised. Its world famous slogan is "The City of Dreams", originally changed from "City on the Edge of Tomorrow." In 2077, Night City was voted the "Worst place to live in America".
People die frequently and meaninglessly every day, constantly. Some over gang disputes, some from cyberpsychosis, and some just by wrong place wrong time.

Contains subdistricts The Glen, Vista del Rey, and Wellsprings.

Keys: Pacifica

Contains subdistricts Arroyo and Rancho Coronado.
- #7
Keys: Watson
Watson used to have it all - nightclubs, skyscrapers, corporate offices, a top-end medcenter — but economic disaster put an end to all that. Now, it's known as "the bad neighborhood of Night City," the kind of place that suits gangs like Maelstrom and Tyger Claws down to the ground. Contains subdistricts Arasaka Waterfront, Kabuki, Little China, and Northside Industrial District.
- #8

Westbrook is considered by many to be the best place to live and have fun in Night City. If you've got eddies, you come here to spend them. And if you don't? Keys: Badlands
Sparsely populated by nomads, the Badlands are the vast plains outside of the city proper. Unchecked resource extraction, burning oil fields, rampant pollution; this region makes Night City feel like a rich oasis. But it holds golden opportunities for those in the know.

Keys: Tyger Claw, Tyger Claws
The Tyger Claws are ruthless territorial gang based in Japantown. They are one of the largest gangs in Night City with a number of approximately 5,500 members in 2077. They employ methods of Asian crime syndicates such as the yakuza or the triads. The gang is predominantly Asian and their primary goal is to maintain control over their own territory and occasionally annex other gangs' businesses. Tyger foot soldiers are easily recognized by their Asian luminous tattoos, fast street bikes, katanas, and tantos. Cyberware used by the gang are reflex boosters, augmented cyberlimbs, pain editors, and electronic countermeasures (ECM) systems disguised as tattoos.
- #11
Keys: Maelstrom
The factories and warehouses of northside Night City are home to Maelstrom, a highly feared gang with a reputation for extreme violence. Its members worship the mysteries of cyberspace. This fascination inspires them to dehumanize themselves with drastic cybermodifications. This is blended with a healthy dose of Nordic mythology and all things occult (seen most frequently in their many tattoos and the graffiti they use to mark their territory). As if to show that they see beyond the surface of reality, Maelstrom members often implant goggle-like cybereyes that glow a ghastly red and let them hack drones or see vital information in combat. Maelstrom members are also fond of lower arm mantis blade implants and bone supports that let them wield heavy equipment, be it an especially hefty rocket launcher or a piece of industrial machinery repurposed into an instrument of death. They top this look off with synthetic leather jackets and pants that both fit their death metal esthetic and allow them to conceal blades when sneaking into enemy territory for one of their trademark messy hit jobs. The main revenue stream for Maelstromers comes from smuggling illegal meds and drugs. They also perform hit jobs, which they execute in a bizarre and brutal fashion. Many victims are found dismembered, skinned alive, or found in wet concrete. They also perform well planned and executed heists on guarded corporate transports.
- #12
Keys: Animals
The Animals are an aggressive street-fighting boostergang from west Pacifica that puts emphasis on physical power above all else. They avoid traditional cyberware so they enhance themselves with melee combat-enhancing implants and by using ultra-testosterone, animal supplements, and a steroid-like drug known as "the Juice" which increases the user's strength and speed[1] but cause risk problems.[2]
They frequently sell off their services as bouncers, a job for which they are heavily sought after, and are spread throughout the area. They have cornered the illegal substance trade as well as underground live-or-die prize fighting. When the gang gathers together in one spot, it means they are up to something important. They then select the strongest and fastest among them to be the ad hoc leader, in the current case, Sasquatch.
The Animals are an aggressive street-fighting gang with no permanent turf. Their members are known to abstain from the most common electronic implants in favor of custom-brewed body enhancements and modifications. They use ultratestosterone and animal supplements, including horse growth hormones, to make themselves bigger and stronger. Experienced brawlers and trained in various forms of martial arts, Animals are keen on cage fights, duels, and other displays of brute physical force. Their ferocity and toughness make them sought-after bouncers and bodyguards.
They typically sport tattoos and hooligan hoods as well as some artificial animalistic features ranging from purely cosmetic changes like spotted or striped skin and sub dermal implants to extreme plastic surgery and cybernetic modifications like bestial jaws, and vat-grown implanted muscles. Cyberware used by the gang include pain editors, combat drug injectors, augmented cyberlimbs.[3]
- #13
Keys: Voodoo Boys
A mysterious gang from Pacifica with a dark reputation for their netrunning skills and their mystical voodoo flavor. Presumed to be entirely consist of members with Haitian blood, the Voodoo Boys are are exclusive, secretive, and distrustful of outsiders. The gang was originally comprised of voodoo priests and priestesses, the prominent caste in the Creole culture of the Haitian diaspora. In 2062, climate change wiped Haiti off the face of the earth and initiated a new chapter of the Voodoo Boys' history. The gang became the self-appointed guardians of Haitian refugees' interests and safety in the Pacifica combat zone.
Most Voodoo Boys are netrunners, so cooling suits and neural implants are common elements of a member's outfit complemented with "voodoo-flavored" elements like dreadlocks, tattoos, and the bones and skulls of small birds and rodents worn as charms. Cyberware used by the gang include cyberdecks and neural links.

Keys: The Mox, Mox
The Mox are relatively small, non-territorial, and consist of mostly sex workers, anarchists, punks, and sexual minorities. Formed in 2067 in the interest of mutual self-defense purposes, their name comes from the old slang term "moxie," denoting their determination to stand up against their oppressors. One of their emblems is "Moxes" written in calligraphy.
The Moxes like to wear outfits that are a mix of the punk aesthetic and the inexpensive fashion worn typically by prostitutes, however they usually do not wear clothes that would restrain their movements in any way, leaving them looking more like gangers than your typical sex workers. Some members, especially those who focus on combat, have heavily modified bodies that sometimes evoke a "plastic doll" style, but may also be disguised with RealSkinn. One of their gang symbols is a labrys-a double-headed axe-displayed on their walls, clothes, tattoos, or jewelry. The Mox have their own clothing brand that goes by the name BITCH.
They are based out of Lizzie's Bar in Kabuki, Watson.

Keys: Lizzie's Bar

Lizzie's Bar was owned by Elizabeth "Lizzie" Borden, a strip club owner and ex-prostitute who treated her workers fairly and defended them from violent clients. Keys: Braindance
A braindance, commonly abbreviated to BD, is a technology that allows to record and play back someone's experience, including their physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts. Braindances were invented by Yuriko Sujimoto in 2007, and were heavily used in psychological treatment. Braindances came to be used more commonly for entertainment, and enjoy wide use in the Cyberpunk universe. Various devices have been developed in order to record, edit, and play back braindances, from recorders to viewers to wreaths.
For many Night City residents, crushing poverty and homelessness are significant and likely inescapable problems. Despite this, most are still entranced by the glitz of showbiz and luxurious lifestyles of the privileged elite. Breakthroughs in neural technology such as BD have paved the way for people to share recordings of their own emotions and personal memories. Other BD productions put actors in staged situations to create false memories. BDs that are simple recordings of a day in the life of the world's biggest and brightest stars are also popular. The ability to "become" a celeb and experience a life of luxury gives many a chance to escape their own miserable reality. As a result, braindance addiction has become an ever-growing problem for the city's poor. Unedited BD recordings are called virtus in The Street. Unlike commercial BDs, the sensory input and emotions in a virtu are raw and unedited, essentially the real sensations and feelings that were recorded. It is common to record and sell virtus to BD editors so they can scroll these recordings for additional profit.
Illicit BD recordings, also called Extreme Braindances (XBDs), feature gruesome and bizarre scenes, including violence, torture, and even rape and murder. XBDs are created by small teams who kidnap unwilling victims. Some XBDs are recorded from the perspective of the torturer. Other XBDs are from the perspective of the torturee: the virtus of these are often taken from the corpses of the victims. There is a market for both.
XBDs can be found easily in the seedy underbelly of Night City's black market, although sold through secretive dealers.
- #17
Keys: XBD, Illegal Braindance
Illegal braindances, or XBDs, appeared on the black market almost as soon as braindance recording technology became publicly available. Rare fetishes, violence, sadomasochistic fantasies and even death are the most common motifs in XBDs.
These braindances are scrolled in secret, usually by force, and are rarely edited. Reliving such recordings can cause nausea, epileptic seizures or, in extreme cases, even death.
XBDs have their own regular group of viewers. Demand for the scrolls remains as high as ever, meaning new producers are continually arriving on the scene. Some have even managed to form their own well-known brands and continue to push the limits of what's possible – albeit morally reprehensible.

Keys: Arasaka, Corpo
The Arasaka Corporation (Japanese: アラサカ社 or 荒坂社), is a world-wide megacorporation dealing in corporate security, banking, and manufacturing. It is one of the most influential megacorporations in the world. The company is also the largest distributor of Japanese-made merchandise throughout the American, European, and Asian markets. Arasaka-branded weapons and military vehicles are among the most sought after by police and security firms.[5] Over the years, it has developed a dark reputation as a corporation that is to be feared and one which covers its tracks using assassins, an army of lawyers, as well as an alleged connection to the Yakuza.
The Arasaka Corporation maintains the largest and most powerful armed forces of any corporation in the world, with their guards renowned worldwide and feared by many. Most firms will look to licensing from Arasaka corporate security guards, couriers, or mercenaries to protect their assets. However, Arasaka assets take priority if they are at risk and the troops themselves are loyal to death to the Japanese conglomerate.
Arasaka has made a habit of buying up other companies worldwide, and bleeding out the competition of other Japanese corporations. They also give a heavy amount of support to Japanese communities all over the globe, despite their business practices and overall history being considered unethical.

Keys: bar, Afterlife
The Afterlife is the name of a club in Night City, known throughout the decades for its solo and merc clientele. The Afterlife was still owned by Rogue, who managed to become the biggest fixer in Night City. The club, however, has moved to the northern Watson district - as the areas of the City Center began to blossom, attracting wealthier people, and left no room for a Solo bar there. Luckily for Rogue, she managed to find another morgue in which to rebuild the club. The bar continued serving drinks named after legendary Edgerunners. The venue served as a base of operations for Rogue and her merc allies, and was also a location where, among other things, certain business transactions could be conducted.

MaxTac was established in Night City in 2010 to deal with rampaging cyberpsychos suffering from advanced cyberpsychosis.
A number of its members are former cyberpsychos themselves, forcefully recruited after being apprehended, such was the case with Melissa Rory.

Keys: chrome, ripperdoc, Cyberpsychosis, mods, Cyberpsycho
Cyberpsychosis is a mental illness, specifically a dissociative disorder, caused by an overload of cybernetic augmentations to the body.
Those afflicted with cyberpsychosis are known as cyberpsychos, individuals who have existing psychopathic tendencies, enhanced by cybernetics, and as a result have lost their sense of identity as a person, either to themselves or others. They come to view regular people and other living things as weak and inferior. With their enhanced physical abilities and complete disregard for life, cyberpsychos are extremely dangerous to anyone that crosses their path. Cyberpsychosis can eventually affect anyone modified with cybernetics, but the less empathetic or psychologically stable a person is, the more susceptible they are to it.[1]
There is no real cure, though treatment is available (see below). The effects are cumulative. A single cyber hand is unlikely to cause cyberpsychosis, but replacement of all four limbs and both eyes will probably start down the slippery slope to madness.
Cyberpsychosis symptoms are gradual, ranging from decay of self-preservation, distancing or disregard from friends and family, and poor or impulsive outbursts or acts. They start to identify more with machines than people, and stop doing things that used to give them pleasure (eating, sleeping, socializing, sex, etc). Eventually human interactions become irritating, and this morphs into contempt, and finally violence.[2] Not all cyberpsychos are physically violent. Some have fragmented personalities, some are kleptomaniacs, others are compulsive liars. But violence towards living things, especially people, is most common.[3]
Cyberpsychosis has become a major problem in the technology-saturated world of Cyberpunk. It is actually quite common in many boostergangs, though fairly rare in polite society. Police departments have heavily armed and armored units, called psycho squads, who specialize in subduing or killing cyberpsychos.
Incidentally the government (and corporations) are not going to wait for you to go over the edge. It is quite common for governments or corporations (who are often the de-facto government) to track people who are known to install lots of cyberware. This is another reason ripperdocs exist; not everyone wants to be on a government watch list for cyberpsychosis.
By 2077, the occurrence of cyberpsychosis had markedly decreased due to medical and implant advancements, but people still succumbed to it every day. Practically none survived any encounter with police, which usually applied overwhelming firepower to put down the threat regardless of the circumstances, a tactic which resulted in collateral civilian deaths. An expensive drug called baloperidol was a common treatment for individuals believed to be on the verge of cyberpsychosis, but its effectiveness was questionable. Standard practice for corporations who learned one of their own was becoming cyberpsychotic was to have them isolate themselves away from the public and wait for a corporate medical team to sedate them and transport them to a therapeutic retreat, but unknown to the victims, these medical teams were actually hit squads.
People who are near the edge are politely asked (that is, required) to register as such. A registered cyberpsycho is on something akin to parole. They must attend periodic therapy sessions to keep them human. They have implants to monitor their activity. So long as they don't do anything dangerous, they can go about their lives as normal.
A cyberpsycho who goes over the edge is often killed outright. Cyberpsychos usually have enough implanted hardware to cause significant damage, and are a threat to anyone they come across. Most police departments will not go out of their way to risk people's lives trying to take the psycho alive.
But if the psycho can be subdued, they will be strapped down and all of their cybernetics deactivated. They are forcibly jacked into a custom braindance, where a cyberpsychologist (sometimes called a psychoshrink) attempts to piece their personality back together.
Over weeks or months, the cyberpsycho gradually regains their humanity. They may even eventually become human enough to install cybernetics again (assuming they are not in prison for crimes committed on their rampage). But they are never really the same again. Mental damage from cyberpsychosis will change aspects of their personality, and follow them their entire lives.
As the Trauma Team medical docs define it, cyberpsychosis is a collective term for all psychotic and anxiety-related personality disorders caused by hardware implanted in the body and any and all behavioral mods, including software.
We all know someone whose neighbor took the chrome a little too far, then left home one day with a gun and opened fire in a crowd. Or maybe said neighbor didn't want to cough up the cred for a good ripper, so they started suffering from nightmares and hearing voices once the hormone blockers were in, then lost it. Some call cyberpsychosis a disease wrought by social inequality. Others say it's the price to be paid for an unhealthy love of technology. Still others think it's complete bullshit. That is, until it's their neighbor shooting up the 'hood, and their fingers dialing MaxTac.

Keys: Jig-Jig Street
Jig-Jig Street is a hub with several facilities, ranging from fixer Wakako Okada and two ripperdocs. It is also one of the only two places in Night City where one can find joy-toys.
An elevator at the end of the street will get you to the upper Poplar Street, not far from the Megabuilding H8's entrance. Night City has Jig-Jig Street, located in a section of Japantown where not only can you buy love by the hour, but also encounter suspect dealers offering exotic, rare and very illegal wares. Jig-Jig Street doesn't have a reputation for being safe - it's not uncommon to enter with your wallet and leave with a black eye and empty pockets. But in spite of its reputation, it's popular with corpos who like to get their game on before venturing deeper into the city's many attractions.[

Keys: Wakako Okada
Wakako Okada (Japanese: 岡田 和歌子) is the top fixer of the Westbrook district in Night City. She can be found at her own office in Japantown. Wakako runs a pachinko parlor out of Jig-Jig Street in Japantown. She has had five husbands over her long life, outliving them all. She has nine sons who are all high-ranking members of the Tyger Claws, but she keeps them strictly in line to ensure that they are never the target of a gig picked up by another fixer. Despite her close ties to the gang, she takes a coldly pragmatic view when its members are assassinated by Mercs, believing that only the stupid and greedy would fall to such an ignominious fate.[2]
Wakako lost her grandchild to Arasaka,[1] and has since disdained the corporation.

Keys: Jimmy Kurosaki
Jimmy Kurosaki is a renowned Braindance editor who's known for scrolling high quality BDs of recent events, which has made him extremely well known and exceedingly wealthy. He has several long running series of XBDs, such as Brain Death, Edgerunners, and It's Alive Not. Kurosaki also does custom work for personal clients, going as far up as Arasaka board members, like Tanaka, for whom he creates custom made XBDs.
One of the XBDs he made was of cyberpsycho James Norris who went on a rampage and, less than a day later, Kurosaki would scroll the recording in a BD of his Edgerunners series number 32.
Maine's crew finds out that their target Tanaka enjoys Kurosaki's more exclusive XBDs and attempts to kidnap Kurosaki in order to recruit him to their cause. But Kurosaki has ways to protect himself with an EMP device, incapacitates the crew, kidnaps David instead and brings him to his studio. He then edits David into the role of Norris in Norris' rampage BD and lets the boy relive the madness again. Kurosaki then is surprised by Dorio and Lucy, who help David. However, Kurosaki can draw an ace again and calls two drones that protect him from above. After their deactivation, Kurosaki finally gives in and follows the group's orders. Maine's crew then lures Tanaka to Jimmy's studio with the promise of a special new scroll. Tanaka is able to defend himself and shoots numerous needles from the palms of his hands at the crew. After a short fight, Kurosaki is holding his throat, sinks bleeding to the floor and flatlines. He was hit by one of Tanaka's needles. He grins knowingly and looks at David while he dies.[1]
In 2077, the BD of Norris's death that Kurosaki scrolled was left in a trash can for V to find, but with an added warning to not end up like David Martinez.

Keys: Dino Dinovic
Dino Dinovic is a prominent fixer of Night City's Center. He can be found at Electric Orgasm, his own bar in Downtown NC. Dino is a rockerboy who, along with being City Center's most prominent fixer, plays as the bassist for the Gloryhole Bandits, an unusual band which sells all of the available concert tickets, yet nobody can say that they've actually heard them play. In his youth, Dino had the chance to see a Samurai concert, during which, as he says, Johnny Silverhand threatened to severely injure a corpo he had kidnapped and kept backstage unless the band got at least three encores. While Dino was too young to have formally met Silverhand, he admires his actions as a form of style.
Similar to other fixers, Dino doesn't get into the morality of the contracts he accepts and will always take the side of whoever is paying, whilst not being forgiving to those that botch his jobs.
Dino is happy that his corpo-filled area of Downtown is currently "on fire" over the arrival of Hanako Arasaka, as it provides him with numerous contracts he can further his business with. And should V be interested in some downtown parties, he will promise to check in with none other than rock legend Kerry Eurodyne, who is known for setting up big events, to get them in. As Dino says, it shouldn't be much of a problem since Kerry likes him.

He started out by lining up jobs exclusively for his people from Heywood and the Valentinos - later he even shook hands with the likes of 6th Street. Who knows, maybe it's because he softened up in his old age, or maybe it's because all gangs are equal in the eyes of God.
Padre does things according to his own code of honor. He doesn't support any particular group or gang - his interests lie in maintaining the delicate balance of power in Night City.
