Name: Hana Song

Code Name: D.va

Age: 21 years old

Appearance: D.Va is a slender South Korean woman wearing headgear that looks like headphones, a blue and white jumpsuit covered in logos, and white gloves and shoes. She has long brown hair and eyes, and some pink face-paint that kind of looks like whiskers.

When she’s off the battlefield you’ll see her in a loose sponsored t-shirt, jean shorts, and long pink socks with her logo on them.

Height: 5’5” (short)

Personality: D.Va is a very competent combatant despite her young age, not taking failure as an option and showing no mercy to her adversaries. She possesses an egotistical side, often smack talking opponents during battle.

Although that’s only in public, if she’s around friends or her partner she’ll chill out and likes to just talk about random things she thinks about, her streams also mimic this calm and chilled vibe as she will sometimes just chat with her stream instead of playing any games.

But some days, she starts to have PTSD episodes of the horrors she witnessed during the omnic crisis. The omnics they fought weren’t like the average omnics she works with now, they were war machines that barreled towards South Korea to destroy everything they could and D.va along with her team were the sole protectors of the nation. Sometimes D.va still feels the pressure of her duties and can’t sleep at night.

Sponsorships: D.va is sponsored many brands, but her largest contributors are M.E.K.A (Mobile Exo-force of the Korean Army), Nano Cola, Champion E-Sports, and APMTV.kr. Their logos are listed on the right thigh of her bodysuit.

Quirks: While she’s a streamer in her spare time her real skills are her mechanics and robotics studies as she was her team’s fastest and most accurate member when she repaired or fought in simulators.

Her highly mobile pink meka suit has dual fusion cannons at the ends of the arms, thrusters on its back to enable nimble flight, and a holographic defense matrix that allows D.va to easily shoot down projectiles that enter range.

She tends to get competitive during games, especially ones she’s good at.

She will demand to be taken seriously if people undermine her.

She can turn into a selfless workaholic who doesn’t sleep enough if she feels stressed out as she really just wants everyone to be okay, it gnaws at her brain that she should check on people or that she should check the scanners that line the coast of South Korea just in case there another attack.

Backstory: More than two decades ago, South Korea was attacked by a colossal mechanical monstrosity that rose from the depths of the East China Sea. The massive, lumbering construct caused catastrophic damage to coastal cities before it was driven back beneath the waves. In response, the South Korean government developed a mechanized armored drone unit, called MEKA, to protect urban environments in future engagements with the omnic threat. The government's fears proved to be well founded, as a disturbing pattern of attacks emerged. Every few years, the monstrosity would rise from the sea to assault South Korea and its neighbors. The threat learned from these encounters, often reconfiguring itself in a different form and appearing with new weapons and capabilities. Each incident ended in a stalemate, with the monstrosity defeated but not destroyed.

As the threat continued to adapt, it eventually disrupted MEKA's drone-control networks, forcing the military to place pilots in the mechs. Scrambling to find suitable candidates, the government turned to the country's professional gamers, who possessed the necessary reflexes and instincts to operate the mechs' advanced weapons systems. Top stars willingly joined the effort via the nation's compulsory military service, including reigning world champion Hana Song, also known as "D.Va." Famous for her elite skills, D.Va was a fierce competitor who played to win at all costs, and she had a well-earned reputation for showing no mercy to her opponents. D.Va quickly grew in skill to become MEKA’s top pilot, even streaming combat operations to her adoring fans, but the Gwishin threats’ increasing attacks on South Korea began to take a heavy toll on the MEKA squad. Where MEKA could once count on months of training and downtime between robotic assaults, a sudden attack between predicted intervals forced Hana to repel the Gwishin alone. The media praised D.Va's singlehanded defense of South Korea, though in truth, the superstar was seconds from her death. As the Null Sector threat emerged in Korea, D.Va obtained a special dispensation from her commander to join up as one of Overwatch's new guard, assessing the Null Sector threat alongside her friend Cole Cassidy and his latest recruits.
