“FUCK.” Two voices, speaking in unison. In a brief flash of dimensional energy, two figures in dark uniforms stagger forward, the portal that had just been summoned closing neatly behind them. The larger bowls headfirst into a coffee table, swearing loudly, while the other - a woman, with now very-tangled white hair - sits heavily on the ground, looking around and rubbing her head as she tries to orient herself.

“We should’ve just gone through the fuckin’ motel!” Adam complains, wincing as he picks himself off. He scowls at the coffee table as if it had personally offended him. “Like it would’ve been any smoother. The route’s unstable. SERAPHIM activity all over the place.” Hana replies shortly. “We read the reports this morning, and I know you remember.” She sighs and gets to her feet. This isn’t even part of our job description, Hana thinks glumly.

“Yeah, well, they’ve already pulled Sutter off his duties as well.” Adam points out, earning him a glare from his feminine counterpart. Adam always did have a habit of talking instead of just thinking, as if their mind wasn’t one and the same.

The tears had been getting worse and more frequent - meaning Contractors were getting pulled from their regular jobs to deal with it as the mortal squads were getting overwhelmed. Even #02's own ACES couldn’t keep up with the workload. Direct Dimensional Management my ass…couldn’t manage an Outback Steakhouse, let alone the multiverse.

“Let’s just -“

It’s only just then that Hana and Adam notice that they are not, in fact, alone in the apartment they’d crashed into. “Oh shit.” Adam says as his eyes fall upon the individual staring at the two Contractors. Which was only fair, really - most people don’t expect to see two people in their living room out of thin air.

With a slightly awkward hand gesture Adam repairs the coffee table, wood sealing back together seamless (though it remains on a lean). He flashes what he hopes is an endearing, charming smile. “Uh, hey. Be not afraid, mort-“ Hana cuts him off, her eyes flicking up from the data pad she’d been checking. “Where is the newest entrance to this city’s sewer system from this location?” She demands, not even trying to keep the impatience from her voice. They’re running out of time - the tear they’re here to fix is only growing bigger and more volatile.
