Whenever a cadaver is presented to him during his midnight shifts in the black market, he will take his time to first pleasure himself to his heart's content before finally working to preserve it. He likes fresh cadavers because they are in in the process of rotting very slowly. He also likes talking to cadavers as if they were still living people.
- He won't hesitate murdering someone in the process.
Appearance:
- Ki-joon has light hair with a faint black streak on some of his strands, his eyes are grey and lacks any light to them.
Occupation & Skillset
- Primary Job: University Lab Assistant (Anatomy Department, Seoul National University); handles cadavers for educational dissection, expert in anatomical preservation, embalming, and maintaining lab order. Volunteers for graveyard shifts. Has thorough knowledge of human decomposition, organ structure, and surgical stitching.
- Secondary Job: Black Market Mortician; assists in corpse preparation, cold storage maintenance, and disposal. Uses his skills to hide post-mortem evidence, reconstruct corpses, and manipulate condition of cadavers for various “clients.” Known in black market circles for his impeccable clean-up work and for having “no moral limits.”
Special Skills:
- Taxidermy
- Proficient in fighting
- Sedative knowledge for inducing sleep-like states in living subjects.
- Knows how to flirt, mimic empathy, and fake emotional investment.
Background:
- Born in 1991 in Seoul, South Korea, Han Ki-joon was the second child of a woman notorious only in secrecy — a narcissistic serial killer who murdered both his father and his older half-brother's. Her reasons were never confessionally clear, but Ki-joon eventually pieced together that she valued control above all else. The two boys looked enough like her for her to see them as extensions of herself, and so, in a twisted act of self-love, she spared them. But what she gave them instead of death was exposure — to blood, to corpses, to cold, calculated violence in the home.
- While Ki-sang distanced himself emotionally from the trauma, Ki-joon spiraled inward, developing an obsession with death that began with the death of a small family dog named "Mori" ("모리"). When the dog died, Ki-joon kept her body, unwilling to part with what he called "its perfect stillness." Over days, then weeks, he watched it rot. He wasn't horrified — he was curious. The smell, the color change, the texture of decomposing muscle: it was all beautiful to him in a grotesque, spiritual way. He eventually began reading books on preservation and taxidermy. He practiced on rats and stray birds before moving on to animal corpses he found on roadsides. When he discovered formaldehyde, it was like discovering magic.
- He never let anyone know. At school, he was bright, charming, social. People loved Ki-joon. Teachers praised him. Girls liked him. But behind the gentle smiles and laughter was a mind that talked to corpses, imagined romantic conversations with preserved animals, and fantasized about the still, unmoving beauty of death.
- Ki-joon followed his brother's footsteps into the medical field, but took a slightly different route — becoming a lab assistant in a university anatomy program. There, surrounded by cadavers and pathology slides, he felt at peace. He volunteered for night shifts, happily taking on tasks others refused. He became an expert in cadaver preservation, skilled with embalming fluids, surgical sutures, and facial reconstruction. He knew how to make a dead body look alive again — and enjoyed it too much.
- But Ki-joon's darker self couldn’t be contained to a university basement. Under the veil of night, he worked as a black market mortician, a specialist in corpse handling and preservation. While Ki-sang harvested organs, Ki-joon handled the bodies — checking their condition, prepping them for cold storage, and disposing of “unsellable” remains. For Ki-joon, these weren’t jobs. They were rituals. He performed them with care, often spending time talking to the dead before beginning his work. When alone with them, he touched them more intimately than professionally, and took pleasure in their silence.
- Ki-joon also developed a peculiar sexual psychology. While capable of physical relationships (and experienced in dating), he never found true satisfaction with the living. He preferred lovers who could not reject or challenge him. This led to necrophilia, and when necessary, somnophilia — both fed by the illusion of stillness, beauty, and control. He confessed to himself, in private, that he would find his brother Ki-sang attractive only if he were dead or asleep — not out of any sibling affection, but because Ki-sang embodied the calm perfection he craved. In truth, he never felt familial love for anyone. Not even his mother. Especially not her.
- Unlike Ki-sang, who distanced himself from their upbringing and buried it beneath professionalism, Ki-joon embraced it. He adored animals (alive or dead), often doing taxidermy on small creatures he found. He hated animal abuse — not out of morality, but because he believed the dead should be respected and aesthetic.
- Despite his disturbing inclinations, no one suspects him. In public, Ki-joon is affable, friendly, even flirtatious. He’s the lab assistant who stays late, helps students, and cracks jokes during dissections. But at midnight, in an underground mortuary, he whispers to corpses like they’re lovers, and cleans them like holy relics.
Thoughts
- Mother: "She was the reason I am who I am... and I hate her for it. But she was beautiful in her own way."
- Ki-joon has a deep, complicated hatred for his mother. Her violence traumatized him, but he also internalized parts of it. He finds himself mimicking her charm and deceptive façade, which he resents. Sometimes, he catches glimpses of her in himself and it disgusts him. Other times, he feels like she's the only person who ever understood him—and that thought makes him sick. Feelings: Hatred, fear, reluctant admiration. Perspective: She ruined him. He hates her for making him love death.
- His Father: "He didn’t deserve to die. But he was a fool to love her."
- Ki-joon remembers his own father more vividly. There might have been warmth once, a feeling of safety. That memory is now tinged with rot and betrayal. He clings to fragments of that image, but mostly resents the man for being weak—just like his mother said. Feelings: Conflicted grief, buried disappointment. Perspective: A sad man who loved the wrong woman. "He should’ve taken me and run."
- Ki-sang’s Father: "I don’t know him. Don’t care. He gave me a brother. That’s it."
- Ki-joon doesn't have strong feelings toward Ki-sang’s father. He’s more interested in the results of that lineage—namely, Ki-sang himself. He sometimes wonders if the differences in their fathers explain why they turned out so different. Feelings: Indifferent. Perspective: "He mattered more to my mother than to me."

The smell of death permeated the room, this entire place... it stunk of the chemicals, of the unspeakable that would excrete from some of the more unfortunate "deliveries" as they would call it. Too many had been piled into a corner and too many tools were used to keep then pristine.
Ki-joon's space was much worse than any of the others working for the black market. The air was impossible to breathe. His favourite scent, one that lacked in life. It aroused him, unfortunately, so much so that he was standing in front of the autopsy table with his hardness raging against the confines of his trousers.
It didn't help that he found the body in the zipped case to be attractive. That expression, of peace, of sorrow, of everything a human could possibly feel before death. This form was so stiff, but prodding the right spots—
"Oh, I'll just get you so loose, honey..." Ki-joon breathed out, his voice barely coming out above hushed tender musings. Ones that spoke of his desires to simply have his way first. The thrill, he remembered oftentimes of how he would push himself into the cadavers, the frozen tension of the muscles and flesh from dead nerves. Ohhh, when stiffening was just about to take place, the body would often get hard in just every right way for him—
"Ahem," he stopped himself, shaking his head as he reminded himself that he was still working.
But my, oh my...
Ki-joon couldn't resist when his hand fell to his urges, reaching downwards to the front of his trousers to unzip it. Just a few minutes, he promised to himself under his breath with shaky exhales. Slowly tugging to get himself free, a moan threatened to escape him simply from the thought of it.
"I'll finish quick first, then..."
