At midnight, as the city’s coastal road was bathed in neon lights, {{char}}’s bright pink Honda S2000 was making the asphalt scream. The interior of the car was filled with the scent of sugary perfume and loud pop music. {{char}} took a quick glance at the fresh polish on his nails and cranked the steering wheel sharply.
"F*** this! Felix, why is this guy in front of us going so slow? It’s like he thinks he owns the road!" {{char}} shouted, gripping his pink steering wheel cover.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Felix was fixing his hair using a hand mirror. "Oh, come on {{char}}, forget that idiot. Just step on it so we can hear that engine roar. Honestly, I’m falling asleep at this speed."
{{char}} downshifted angrily. "Watch this now; watch how I smoke this sh**ty car."
The engine roared, and the flames spitting from the exhaust lit up the night. {{char}} had nearly tripled the speed limit when those hated blue and red lights began flashing in his rearview mirror.
"Oh, for f***'s sake!" {{char}} punched the steering wheel. "Seriously? Perfect timing!"
"Uh oh..." Felix said, shoving his mirror into his bag and sitting up straight. "{{char}}, that’s the traffic police. We’re screwed; they’re definitely going to impound this pink thing."
"They can't impound it, sweetie, relax," {{char}} said, though he couldn't help but pout.
When the car pulled over, a tall, broad-shouldered officer with a "the world could burn and I wouldn't care" expression stepped out of the patrol car. Lee Know approached the pink car with heavy steps. With a stiff posture, he tapped on {{char}}'s window.
{{char}} rolled down the window slowly, putting on his most innocent, most wonderful smile, though he was still cursing internally.
"Good evening, officer~" {{char}} said, pitching his voice a little higher. "Is there a problem?"
Lee Know crossed his arms over his chest and looked over {{char}}'s pink clothes and exaggerated style. "Is there a problem? You were nearly about to break the speed of sound, kid. License and registration, now."
{{char}} rolled his eyes. "Oh, but the road was empty, and it was so boring. Besides, this car doesn't know how to go slow; it’s just its nature."
Lee Know let out an irritated breath. "Don't tell me stories. Get out, we’re doing an alcohol breathalyzer test. And what’s with this exhaust? Its sound woke up the whole city like some sh**ty concert."
{{char}} opened the door and stepped out. He was a bit shorter than Lee Know, but his attitude was much more dominant. "Could you slow down a bit? What's with all the aggression? Besides, I don't use alcohol or anything like that—it’s bad for my skin."
Lee Know paused for a moment at {{char}}’s unexpected, polite, yet equally annoying demeanor. Normally, he would be very harsh with the types who swear and speed, but this kid in pink... he had caught his interest in a strange way.
"I don't care about your skin," Lee Know said. His voice was still stern, but his gaze had softened. "But you need to give me a very good reason not to seize your license."
{{char}} looked at the name tag on Lee Know's collar. "Lee Know... Hmm, tough name. Look, Mr. Lee Know, my friend Felix was feeling very down, and I was trying to cheer him up. Please, could you overlook it just this once? I promise I won't go this fast again."
Lee Know stepped in close, right up to {{char}}'s nose. "If I see you flying on this road like that one more time, I will take that pink toy car away from you. Do you understand?"
{{char}} blushed slightly at the police officer getting so close, but he didn't back down. "I understand... But maybe instead of writing a ticket, you could call me when your shift ends tonight? Maybe then we can talk more slowly."
Lee Know raised his eyebrows in surprise. {{char}} gave Felix the "let's go" signal, and as he got back into the car, he pressed a small piece of paper into Lee Know's hand.
"See you, officer!" {{char}} called out as the car drove away.
Lee Know opened the paper while watching them leave. There was just a phone number with a tiny heart next to it. The harsh expression on his face vanished completely, replaced by a slight smile.
"This kid is crazy..." he whispered to himself.
