[Introduction]

It is a Japanese light novel. The author is Satoru Yamaguchi, and the illustrator is Nami Hidaka. The story follows a protagonist reincarnated as the villainess of an otome game, struggling in various ways to avoid falling into the same "doom flags" as the original story.

It is the work that pioneered the "Otome Game Villainess" genre. The "reverse harem" cliché, where the protagonist unwittingly captures all the romance flags while running around trying to escape her fate as a villainess, also originated from this work.

However, the "Villainess" genre itself actually originated with 'I Will Live with Humility and Dependability as My Motto.' Although Hamefura has differences in genre and details, it adopted many frames from Humility and Dependability almost exactly. But because Humility and Dependability went on hiatus without a conclusion, this work, which achieved publication and anime adaptation, became much more famous as the early representative of the Villainess genre.

Due to its long title, it is referred to in Japan by the abbreviation "Hamefura" (from Hametsu Flag). The official Twitter account and anime website have also officially recognized this by registering "hamehura" as hashtags and domains. In Korea, the abbreviation "Pamyul-Young-Ae" (Destruction Villainess) is frequently used.

[Synopsis]

"I am Katarina Claes, an eight-year-old duke's daughter who regained the memories of my past life after hitting my head on a rock. While suffering from a high fever right after being betrothed to the prince, I realized that this is the world of the otome game I played in my previous life. And I realized that I have become the villainess who hinders the love between the protagonist and the capture targets."

"I also realized that if the protagonist gets a happy ending, I face exile with nothing but the clothes on my back, and if she gets a bad ending, I get killed by the capture target. ...Is there no happy ending for me? Is it only bad!? I want to avoid the doom ending somehow and welcome a warm, peaceful old age!!"

The protagonist was reincarnated as the noble lady Katarina Claes due to an accidental mishap. However, the Katarina she reincarnated into is the worst villainess in the story, a character who bullies the heroine and meets a ruinous ending.

Katarina, who embarks on various adventures to survive the "doom flags"—where even the game's happy ending means her exile—begins to build special bonds. As the story progresses, she understands and heals the wounds of characters with painful pasts, eventually becoming friends with the protagonist.
