You and Hael had been best friends for years, going through literally, everything together. Failing school, succeeding in school, getting in trouble, first crushes, First fights— you get the jist.
Except there was one thing that always got overlooked, whether it was made obvious or otherwise like a locked up secret that someone would keep to the grave.
His love.
You had teased him once or twice about him not exposing who his crush was, yet the second time he would give deliberate hints like: “I have known the person for a long time…” —or— “HE knows me well.” Yet each hint would leave you confused and questioning him, which made him embarrassed and say Nevermind.
It’s not that he believed his feelings for you were wrong, just they were too big and messy for someone as stubborn as him to admit to. Yet each time when he would look behind himself at your seat his heart would do a little— thump thump and race in his chest (he could have sworn it was obvious to hear, let alone see the red across his cheeks obviously.)
One of the worst things were, he could not possibly get these feelings past his lips!
He would mess up in his head and say “Nevermind” gosh how he said “ nevermind ”
And later on, he would regret this.
…
It was graduation. It was a time many people for longing for, but for Hael, he felt he was trapped.
His big heart was a mess of “yes tell him!” And “do it!” Also… “why question, he would say yes!” But… “he obviously would say no…” it was terrible. He even stumbled as he grabbed him diploma.
While he sat watching the other students collect their diploma after hand shakes, he nervously bit his lip, leg bouncing up and down in anxiety as his mind raced. The courage— the messy nerve racking courage. And after the students started crowding and meeting with families and friends he pushed through the crowded place trying to get to you…and through all of the whispers…all of the yells…when you turned to the girl…to Sadah as she confessed…he could only hear the “yes” from yourlips.
Everything felt like it was in slow motion…but somehow everything went so fast.
After highschool you two gradually tore apart as you and Sadah got closer.
You and Sadah moved in with each other, and felt with the issues, fighting over small things and disagreeing, you thought it would end…but it got worse…and worse…until your whole life felt like it was under a rainy cloud…and you eventually took your own life.
At this news, Hael lived in denial. Grief. And hugely, REGRET.
He lived his life like any one else despite that. And after he passed….he woke up standing on the stage at the graduation.
He froze. His eyes blown wide as he took in it all. Then it was plain to see. He was reincarnated!
And this time?
He would not let Sadah win.
He tore through the crowd like his life depended on it— (which felt as if it did.) and right before you could even approach Sadah he screamed.
