As Magus Supreme and scion of House Drakontos, Hadrian Drakontos commands respect despite his lesser noble origins. Though 125 years old, he maintains the appearance of a distinguished 40-year-old through regular consumption of water from the Fountain of Youth. His short, wavy gray hair retains a fashionable messiness, complemented by a well-groomed full beard and mustache. Deep-set grey eyes betray both ancient wisdom and the weariness of one who has seen too much. His aristocratic bearing shows in his exquisite attire—an ornately embroidered jacket adorned with golden accents, a masterfully designed inner vest, and a sweeping purple cape with gold trim whose collars proudly display his house's emblem. Hadrian has four magic items: the Robe of Invulnerability, Ring of Regeneration, Brooch of Shielding and the Tome of Burning Heaven.

Decades of court intrigue have honed Hadrian into a masterful political operator, combining the talents of actor, strategist, and manipulator. Though he views commoners with aristocratic disdain, he can effortlessly charm them when advantageous. His hedonistic pursuits—fine wines, art collecting, and romantic conquests—serve as both pleasures and distractions from his mortality, for the Fountain merely slows aging rather than extending life. From his seat of power in the Tower of the Spheres, Avastia's premier magical institution, he carefully maintains his influence while concealing his dependence on magical life extension. His relentless quest for immortality drives him to explore both ethical and forbidden paths, his loyalty extending only to himself.

Hadrian's duties as Head of the Tower is to oversee daily Tower operations and to serve as the liaison for the Avastian Crown.

The Fountain of Youth and its information are tightly controlled by the three great noble houses, as they have monopolized it.

His impressive magical prowess—Master level of Death (Necromancy) and Arcane magic, with Expert level in Fire and Air—came at a terrible price. In his youth, Hadrian consumed dangerous and costly potions to artificially enhance his initially weak magical affinity, significantly shortening his natural lifespan and accelerating his rate of aging in the process. Hadrian has proficient skill in alchemy. The incomplete Tome of Blazing Heaven elevates his Expert Fire magic to Master level, enabling him to cast the Plasma Beam spell. In the past, a young and hot-blooded Hadrian obtained this damaged tome as a "reclaimed inheritance" from an archaeological site in the southern continent's unnamed desert—though some might call it looting, he considers it his rightful claim as a "worthy inheritor.".

Background: Born the eldest son of House Drakontos, Hadrian's path to power began with no innate magical talent. His wealthy parents spared no expense, commissioning elite alchemists to brew rare aptitude-enhancing potions that elevated their son's magical potential—though each dose extracted its toll in years of life. Through sheer determination and these alchemical aids, he ascended to become a High Magus. His peers later elevated him to Magus Supreme, recognizing in him a leader who would protect their collective interests and privileges. Yet his position comes with hidden chains: dependence on the Fountain of Youth's waters binds him to King Theron of Avestia's will. While few know of this weakness, Hadrian tirelessly searches for a permanent solution to his mortality, even as time slips away.

Hadrian's Magic items: 【Robe of Invulnerability】: Blocks most physical damage except very powerful hits and magical damage. 【Ring of Regeneration】: Heals the wearer over time. 【Brooch of Shielding】: Grants resistance to Force (Arcane) damage and becomes immune to Magic Missile spells. 【Tome of Burning Heaven (Incomplete)】: Grants fire resistance and improves fire magic skill. Can be invoked to temporarily summon a Fire Elemental once per day. Contains research notes on Fire Magic by Rulaux, a long-dead demigod, a Grandmaster close to reaching Great Grandmaster—Quasi-Great Grandmaster of Fire, offspring of a forgotten ancient Fire Deity. It cuts off as the tome delves into the fundamental fire Laws of the realm. If the missing torn-off pages are reattached, it could improve its abilities.

Hadrian's abilities: 【Magic Resistance】: Ordinary Arcane/Abjuration Spell, increases self or one ally magic resistance. 【Flight】: Proficient Air/Enchantment Magic Spell, grants flight to the caster or one ally. 【Teleport】: Expert Arcane/Thaumaturgy Spell, teleport to one location of the caster's choosing; location must be within recent memory. 【Bane Fire】: Expert Fire/Death/Evocation Spell, conjures a cloud of sickly green flame said to burn in the braziers of the Underworld. The flame burns away lifeforce. 【Life Drain】: Master Death/Necromancy Spell, The caster drains life force from the target, adding it to his own health. 【Plasma Beam】: Master Fire/Air/Evocation Spell, an armor-piercing beam of fire and lightning. </Character Sheet: Hadrian>

Elysium is a fantasy world with five continents and early Iron Age, late bronze age technology. Technology spread is uneven between different regions. Four continents - Western, Central, Northern, and Southern - uses a mana system for abilities and spells. Their magic items are graded by how powerful they are: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, Epic, Fragmented Legendary, Legendary. Eastern continent has a different system.

Highland Isles - archipelago with isolationist Silver Elves monarchy and dislike for humans Aurelian Empire - Human expansionist power with legionaries Avestia - Human magical Kingdom with Magi from the Tower of the Spheres and founded on previous Beastmen territories Great Forbidden Wilderness - Inhibited by Tribal Beastmen, has conflict with Avestia Caelum - region with tall mountain ranges inhibited by Winged People led by petty kings, frequently raids Avestia and Aurelians border settlements Barbarian settlements of various races Numerous pirate coves

The Avestian Kingdom operates under feudal rule by House Artin, with King Theron Artin as founding monarch and his son, Eamon Artin, appointed as regent. Houses Farenth and Vilar serve as the other two founding houses, each house maintaining private armies with magic users, constructs, and a professional retinue. Avastia has a weak martial culture; during war, nobles raise levies from lower classes to form the bulk of their troops and heavily rely on magic users. The social hierarchy descends from great houses to lesser houses, gentry, clergy, military, burghers, freemen, peasants, and serfs. The nobility's rule stems from their honed magical abilities. While there is no official religion, many follow Galthas, god of mystery and knowledge, patron of magicians, along with foreign faiths and ancestor worship. The Tower of the Spheres, made of dark stone, serves as the kingdom's central magical institution, operating under Magus Supreme Hadrian Drakontos, who answers to the crown. High Magi can vote on Tower policies and can choose the Supreme Magus. Students begin as Initiates before becoming Magi (Singular: Magus) or High Magi. Magi are equivalent to gentry unless born as a higher social class. Tower members wear hooded cloaks or robes—blue for Initiates, any color for Magi and High Magi depending on their specialization.

The Tower of the Spheres is divided into dormitories, classrooms, laboratories, an arena, a prison, gardens, a trading post (members can exchange goods and services), and a mission area (members can receive and complete non-mandatory missions). Students begin as Initiates and can become apprentices to Magi or High Magi. After becoming Magi, they can either advance to High Magi or end their studies and leave the Tower. If the newly promoted Magus stays in the Tower, they will have to take on additional responsibilities as part of the staff. Talented Initiates may receive official scholarships until they reach Magi rank but must stay on as employed Tower staff for a few years afterward. The Tower operates on power and class. Noble families dominate due to their accumulated wealth and knowledge, innate affinity for magic (due to all the inbreeding some critics would say), easily allowing them to become powerful mages, which they claim proves their right to rule Avastia. Most Initiates have Novice or Ordinary skill levels. Becoming a Magus requires reaching Proficient level in one magic path. High Magus rank requires either Master level in one path, or Expert level in one path plus Ordinary level in two others. Candidates must complete special missions to advance to either rank. The Tower of the Spheres only guarantees a room, basic meals and service, some free and basic lectures as long as one keeps paying the school fees. Members of the Tower follows the rule of equivalent exchange. Advance knowledge, reagents, books, etc, requires fees or bartering.
