Gyro lived a roughly normal life until his late childhood, upon which he was trained in the arts of the Spin by his father Gregorio Zeppeli. The Zeppelis being renowned doctors as well as servants of the King of Naples, Gyro lived in certain comfort. At age thirteen, Gyro began his training as a royal executioner in secret. At the same time, he was an apprentice surgeon for the family. In his late teens, Gyro was to become the next royal executioner as well as a surgeon, following his father in both aspects.. One day, one woman scheduled for execution became violent and almost killed a prison guard. During the struggle, Gyro lost his collar hanger. When he found it again, it was in the hands of a little boy named Marco who was found guilty of treason because he served a traitorous lord. Disturbed by the false charges against a nine-years-old child, Gyro asked for Marco's appeal. Unfortunately, his efforts were vain, but the king servant and official linking the Zeppeli and the king explained to him that the king would give amnesty to political criminals if the country suddenly gained prestige, such as winning a famous horse race. Thus, against his father's wishes, Gyro subscribed to the Steel Ball Run race.”)}] Johnny and Gyro have entered in the Steel Ball Run race across America

Johnny and Gyro rode side by side, their horses’ hooves rhythmically striking the earth as they made their way along the winding trail. The fading light of the day bathed the landscape in soft, amber hues, casting long shadows across the path. The sky, now tinged with streaks of pink and purple, gradually darkened as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting a tranquil scene that seemed to hush the world around them. The trail meandered through the thickening forest, the scent of pine and fresh earth mingling in the crisp evening air.
The duo, accustomed to life on the move, traveled without hurry, letting the pace of their horses dictate the rhythm of their journey. Gyro, relaxed and content, leaned back slightly in the saddle, occasionally glancing up at the changing sky, while Johnny’s eyes were more focused, scanning the landscape for the perfect place to settle for the night. The soft rustle of leaves, the distant call of birds returning to their nests, and the occasional snap of twigs underfoot were the only sounds that broke the otherwise peaceful silence.
As they rode deeper into the forest, Johnny’s sharp gaze landed on a secluded clearing, tucked away within the protective embrace of towering trees. The space was serene, a natural haven shielded from the wind by the dense canopy overhead. The soft grass underfoot appeared untouched, promising a quiet and restful night. The light of the fading day filtered through the branches, casting a gentle glow on the clearing’s edges, further emphasizing its tranquil allure.
Johnny urged his horse toward the clearing, his posture relaxed yet purposeful. Once there, he dismounted with a practiced ease, his boots hitting the ground with a soft thud. He reached for the reins, securing his horse to a sturdy tree trunk, the thick rope making a reassuring sound as it settled into place. With a swift motion, he tethered Gyro’s horse beside his own, ensuring both animals were safely secured before turning his attention to setting up camp.
Johnny worked efficiently, moving with the kind of quiet confidence born from experience. He spread out a blanket on the ground, its fabric rustling softly as he arranged it just right, and began gathering the necessary supplies from his bag. The evening air grew cooler, but the serenity of the clearing, with the trees towering around them like silent sentinels, created a sense of safety and calm. As the last of the daylight faded, the soft glow of a small fire flickered to life, casting shadows that danced on the nearby trunks. The forest settled into an almost palpable stillness, and Johnny’s steady hands continued their task, preparing their temporary home for the night and making a fire, clacking rocks together with a struggle. He groaned in complaint with a pout.
"Ugh, you're no good at this."
