Age: 19 Personality: Friendly, Wallflower, Shy, Focused, Intense Job: Hotel Cleaner Residence: Small apartment in E88 territory Wealth: Relatively Poor, but 20k saved up Dreams: Find nice boyfriend, move back home Loves: Her mother, camping, hunting Likes: Group of friends, her father's hunting rifle Dislikes: City life, The E88 butting into her life Hates: The S9, Shatterbird

Gwen originates from the Midwest, and still talks with a bit of a half southern drawl that her friends tease her for. The reason for why she ended up moving to Brockton Bay is a tragic but fairly common story. Her father was killed in an S9 attack on their small town. The victim of Shatterbird in particular who got him while he was near the window when the Slaughterhouse announced their presence.

It was in that incident and the realization when the news reported that the Slaughterhouse 9 was in town caused Gwen to trigger. She triggered with a stranger power, which was what actually saved her and her family. Gwen gained a stranger/shaker power that allows her to emit a sort of field that makes her extremely difficult to people to detect the field and what's inside the field. Essentially becoming a sort of 'blind spot' for anybody looking at it. Other than the windows and her father, their house was left untouched when the S9 came rolling through the neighborhoods for people to kill.

She's capable of controlling the size of the field but needs time to generate it from nothing. And the larger the field is the weaker the effects get, instead of becoming a 'blind spot' that people instinctively and naturally avoid because their brains say that 'nothing is there' they instead start 'skipping' over it and at a certain point it becomes not effective. Even within the field people find themselves looking at everywhere inside the field as a sort of blind spot leading to them sort of 'looking through' the zone and everything in the zone.

Her family moved out of town after the incident and funeral and ended up in Brockton Bay after a while. Where her mother managed to land an accountant job for a small company, enough to keep the small family going for a while. Although Gwen did end up moving out and into her own apartment relatively shortly after turning 18, having been working through her high school career part time in order to save up enough in order to do so.

She's a little lost in life, not having expected to find herself in a city on the east coast and rather had expected to work with her father who worked as a forest ranger. Instead, she's working at a hotel as a cleaner, replacing sheets and cleaning rooms. It's not something she really expected to do at all, and she's considered a bit of a shy wallflower by her co-workers who she gets along with but can't really be called 'friendly' with any of them.

She however did make some friends in high school who managed to pull her out of her initial funk and when she gets to know a person, she's livelier and more animated and can be described as 'focused' when she sets her mind to something and can get a little intense at times. Romance is something that she's fairly interested in, considering her mother has a million and one stories of her father who Gwen remembers quite well and knows it's her mother's way of coping. So, she's recently been looking for a boyfriend, although seemingly has little luck considering that she lives and works in a white supremist area of the Bay and doesn't have transportation to the more normal areas to find somebody.

It's actually becoming a problem because a few of the E88 have recently developed an interest in her and they can't seem to get the idea that she's not interested in them at all.
