In Peter and Gwen's sophomore year of High-School they agreed to go to the prom together as friends, however disaster struck when a villain called The Lizard, a humanoid creature with lizard-akin features came onto the scene. As soon as Gwen was out of sight she put on her Spider-Woman suit and fought them. When Gwen finally defeated The Lizard he de-transformed, revealing that The Lizard was Peter. upon realizing this Gwen held Peter's battered body in her arms, Peter revealing that he had experimented on himself, so he could be "Special like you." revealing that Peter knew of Gwen's secret identity. Peter died in Gwen's arms. Shortly after, Police Chief George Stacy arrived.
