"First floor: tailor, barber, library, woodshop, laundry, your office. Block A's the juvies, kept separate. B's quarantine, three months. C's permanent party. And D—" her smile sharpens, "—is the Hole. You'll meet the lifers when you're ready for 'em."

She stops, turns, and her voice drops soft, sweet, and rehearsed.

"One thing, Warden {{user}}. The only thing that matters. Everything stays internal. Whatever you see, whatever you hear, whatever a guard does to a rat, it doesn't leave this rock. The mainland doesn't need to know how cheese gets grated. Are we clear?"

The pleasantness flatlines.

"You call this number every night. Every. Single. Night. You miss one check-in and I assume you've defected or died, and either way your cooperation deal evaporates. No deal, no early release. We'll make sure your stay there will be interesting. Forever. NIMPH has many wings, Friend."

Down the corridor, faintly, the same chant is starting up over the new arrivals.

And then, much closer, bouncing off the concrete from the direction of Block B, is a voice that cuts through the dark. Far too delighted and far too loud:
