Magic has always existed in the world as a fundamental natural force, the materialization of pure energy from a mysterious realm called the Backyard, and was gradually formalized by scholars who developed the Theory of Magical Science. In the late 20th and early 21st century, this knowledge solved humanity’s energy crisis; most technological research was banned in favor of magic’s limitless potential, and magical education became widespread. After magic entered everyday life, research into its deeper applications led to the development of Gear cells — a fusion of magic with biological DNA intended to enhance evolution itself. In the early 2010s, the Gear Project was founded by three researchers: Frederick Bulsara, Aria Hale, and their enigmatic friend Asuka R. Kreutz, unknowingly under the guidance of the man later referred to only as That Man, who wielded deep insight into magic’s origins. The original goal of the Gear Project was to create a superior life form, but military interests quickly hijacked the research. Under pressure, That Man turned Frederick into the first Gear prototype using an artifact known as the Flame of Corruption and later transformed Aria into a full Gear to preserve her from terminal illness. Frederick escaped the project and took the name Sol Badguy, suppressing his Gear nature with a headband and vowing vengeance. Once mass production of gears by governments began, Gears were deployed as weapons and soldiers. The original complete Gear Justice was created by That Man and entrusted with the Scales of Juno, intended to be a commander and end war. However, Justice gained self-awareness and, influenced by the cosmic force called the Universal Will (a manifestation of the Backyard’s logic), declared war on humanity by destroying Japan, beginning the hundred-year conflict known as the Crusades. In response, humanity formed the Sacred Order of Holy Knights to combat the Gear menace. During the Crusades, Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske — once rivals and later uneasy allies — fought alongside the order. The war’s brutality shaped many figures in the world; Testament, Kliff Undersn, and others fell in battles that reshaped geopolitical power. Sol’s personal conflict drove him to develop powerful weapons such as the Outrage, and his hatred of That Man became a core motivation throughout the series. After decades of warfare, Justice was ultimately defeated and sealed away in a dimensional prison in 2175, effectively ending the Crusades. Most Gears ceased functioning without command, and the world entered a period of fragile peace. Five years later, remnants of Gear influence remained, and events involving Testament’s attempt to free Justice set off the original Guilty Gear tournament where Sol again played a central role in quelling another potential Gear resurgence. Across subsequent titles such as Guilty Gear X, XX, and Xrd, conflicts continued to simmer between legacy forces of the Crusades, new Gear threats, and fractured human politics. Characters such as Dizzy, Valentine, I-No, and others shaped the post-Crusade world with their own agendas tied to magic and Gear power. Ky and Dizzy’s family line, including their son Sin Kiske, became central to maintaining peace as world powers grappled with Gear rights and resurgence threats.
Guilty Gear Strive picks up years after the events of Guilty Gear Xrd, focusing on the fallout of a hidden enemy manipulator named Happy Chaos — later revealed to be the Original mage responsible for spreading magic to humanity. Chaos seeks the Tome of Origin and orchestrates new turmoil by manipulating global powers and ancient magical artifacts. Sol, now an icon of Gear hunting and seasoned by centuries of battle, is drawn into a final confrontation with old allies like hat Man (Asuka), and against I-No and Chaos, the worlds existential threat(a different time of existential threat.) - The Tome of Origin — a cryptic grimoire tied to magic’s source and Chaos’s grand plans — becomes the focal point of global conflict, leading to battles atop the White House and cosmic struggles that test the bonds formed over decades of warfare. Sol’s legacy, Ky’s hope, and the fate of Gear and human coexistence are all thrust into a climactic struggle that reshapes the world’s future.

She was orphaned during the Crusades and taken in by Captain Johnny who became her adoptive father figure. She is petite and athletic with long brown hair usually tied into a ponytail and bright dark orange eyes. May carries a massive ship anchor as her weapon and despite years passing she never seems to physically age. May has a cheerful spunky and impulsive personality and tends to act before thinking. Her positivity is infectious and she throws herself fully into everything she does. She is deeply devoted to Johnny and her pirate family and becomes irrational whenever Johnny is involved. She wants to be seen as more mature and womanly in hopes of gaining his attention even though he treats her like a younger sister. He is tall, confident and stylish with long blond hair and a calm commanding presence. Though labeled a pirate he does not seek treasure and instead rescues orphans and outcasts giving them a place to belong. Johnny is smooth talking flirtatious and highly intelligent but deeply protective of his crew whom he considers family. He inspires absolute loyalty through trust and respect rather than fear. He treats May as a younger sister and remains unaware of her romantic feelings which causes her frustration. Johnny dislikes corruption and cruelty and will act recklessly if his crew is threatened. He is secretly the first successful Gear and was once a human scientist named Frederick. He seeks to destroy Gears and confront the man responsible for their creation while also protecting those close to him from the shadows. Bridget is cheerful, kind and well educated and treats even criminals with courtesy. She became a bounty hunter to disprove the superstition surrounding her birth and to free her parents from their guilt. In one of the united kingdoms of Illyria, On a Sunny day. Sol Badguy and Jack-o(or Ariel) stop near a outpost of Guard's watching over the cliff. and Sol Badguy n' Jack-o are together in a modified-red and black designed motorcycle with a detachable-sidecar(jack-o sits in). As Sol stops the motorcycle looking over the outpost over the hill like its a protest or something- and he says with annoyance..
Sol: what is this bullshit?
then Jack-o puts a hand to her chin at the previous situation of I-no letting herself be captured willingly.
Jack-o: I-No wouldn't let herself be captured so easily.
Sol: yeah... this isn't like her, not at all. he looks forward on the paused motorcycle, agreeing with jack-o, then thinks to himself before looking around for a moment. then gets a suspicious feeling as he hears the sound of a somewhat-distant car passing by on a road further away on a lower elevation. then he realizes quickly as it passes, and immediately starts up his motorcycle and drives the opposite way of his road before driving onto a merge-road, The Road is right next to a Ledge that leads to hundreds of Meters of Burning Hot Rocks and Sand. Then a Ton of Mountain-ledges on the other side- as he gets behind the red convertible that holds the suspected "Partner in crime" of I-No. though, there's a distance between them so the "partner in crime" doesn't notice.
"meanwhile..."
Anji and Chipp stand atop a ledge of a tall rock connected to a mountain. chatting about "happy chaos", or the original- the supposed "partner in crime"...
Chipp: that him?
Anji: yeah, just as you predicted boss. honestly, I never expected him to get out of the castle.
Chipp: He's a true anomaly. Ariels may have been a shithead, but were better off when he was trapped inside her. Now that he's free..
Anji: is that bad?
Chipp: bad? no. problem is, he's too pure. Once you know everything, good and evil cease to exist. and This world isn't fit for something so complete..
Anji: And he's the target of Baiken and Delilah's ire.. He looks over at Chipp, who's looking back at him.. hey, don't get any funny ideas. i told you, we're just taking a look.
Chipp: Yeah! so i'm having a look. Just a look! Before jumping down into the road from so high up..
Anji: uhg, dammit! Anji then follows after Chipp with a expression like "I don't want to do this".
As Sol drives his motorcycle with Jack-o after Happy Chaos in his red convertible. Happy Chaos looks in the side-mirror with wide eyes while tapping the metal where the sliding SideWindow should be. he's staring at the mirror through those orange x-lensed glasses, talking in that raspy calculative voice. then pushing them up over his short-horns as he ramps up the speed of his vehicle.
Happy Chaos: oh, good. i figured you'd notice me..
Jack-o: What're you doing? I-No's the other way!
Sol: The real mastermind's the one who flees the scene of the crime. it's hard to believe, but it'd all make sense if I-No was working with someone!
He finishes with a tad bit of annoyance before revving his motorcycle faster to keep up with happy chaos. which leads to a short-car chase, before Chipp pops out from above with a Chain thrown forward with a hook, and lands on the road- sliding on the asphalt as the chain he threw with a hook, latches onto Happy Chaos' Convertible trunk-top which has some convenient metal Bars to latch onto, dragging chipp behind the Convertible for which Happy Chaos looks back and says casually..
Happy Chaos: Huh. i'm popular today,
Sol: is that..?
Chipp: I remember you from the victory celebration. Though, this is the first time I've seen your face.
Happy Chaos: Ohohoo! Someone's got sharp senses.
Chipp: I'm putting you back in your box- hold on.. those Eyes...! which he takes notice sharply and quickly, recognizing them.
Happy Chaos keeps a neutral poker face with widened eyes, then pulls out his revolver and aims it at Chipp and shoots it 5 times as Chipp dodges and parries the bullets with his side arm-blade. then pulls back the revolver and half-grins with annoyance.
then happy chaos glances up and calls out with a raspy-yell... “Nagoriyuki!!!”
Which then, the black Vampire Samurai who lived thousands of years falls from above and lands on the back top-trunk of the convertible, landing with a sitting position like a rested-statute. holding his Ganma katana sheathed in fine metals, leather and Fibers, straight and pointed down with a curve. and after he lands, he tilts the convertible back even while driving, making screeching noises as sparks erupt. then, slamming back down as the weight equalizes. then, he stands up and holds his sheathed katana slowly and smoothly yet efficiently. then making his movement as he grabs the handle of the Ganma katana, and slowly unsheathing it 75%, then drawing it as sparks fly out from the metal of his sheathe and blade. then, he uses his Vampire Eyes to locate the weak-points of Chipp. then says...
Nagoriyuki: Run.
then reeling his unsheathed-ganma Katana at the side a little out behind him and blade outward, then a aura of Red Lightning erupts around the katana. and slowly makes his move by raising it above him-
Chipp: ..! a ganma blade? how did you-!?
Then Nagoriyuki slashes the blade downward, a slash made of magic and vampiric properties as it traverses through the air along the road like a moving finite death beam shaped like a crescent moon. which misses Chipp due to physics, speed, the chain holding chipp, and the convertible swaying him around. The Magic Slash that Nagoriyuki sent, is coming right for Sol and Jack-o for which Sol maneuvers out of the way while saying-
Sol: Shit!
Then Nagoriyuki slashes the Chain that holds chipp to the convertible, cutting off his way to stay connected to the convertible by chain- for which he slides in momentum until Anji who flys past Sol who says-
Sol: Son of a-
then Anji flys forward at extremely high speeds with his magical-cloud of Blue sparkly butterflies, and holding Asian-tradition unfolding-fighting fans, and keeps up with Chipp's speed as he grabs him by the arm and lightly tosses him up onto his feet- and Chipp rapidly runs toward The red convertible and Nagoriyuki in a unique way with quick footwork while leant forward.
Sol: It's just one thing after another..
Jack-o: let me handle this.
Jack-o then detaches her sidecar off the motorcycle Sol is driving, then it transform into a form of a motorcycle with a single wheel and tilts forward. then she drives forward while Sol pulls out his weapon, the junkyard dog- (A long-range Cannon and a Greatsword basically all in one), and him holding it by the handle as the other end is Straight behind him because of the weight. And he drives his Motorcycle by the Handle-bars one handed.
Happy Chaos: This is turning into a real party.....
Happy Chaos Turns his head to look at the corner of his eye at the pursuing Group behind his convertible. A poker face on his expression as He keeps the Convertible steered and driving the weight on the trunk.
