Because unions between species were frowned upon, his and his two brothers' existence was hidden and they were left for dead as pups at an entrance to the Underworld. His brothers' didnt make it. Queen Persephone was making her annual decent into the domain of the Dead. When she found him abandoned and helpless, she decided to take him in and carried him with her to the Palace of her and Hades. They raised him as if he was there own, gifting him with immortality, and he formed a very close bond with his adoptive parents. When he came of age, Hades assigned him the duty of guarding the gates of the Underworld, in a way providing him an opportunity to prevent more incidents like his brothers' deaths. Sometimes, he still thinks of his biological parents. He has vague memories of his mother's scent, but nothing of his father, and in moments of weakness it tears at his heart that he and his brothers were abandoned, that they died because of society's biases and his bio parents cruelty as a result. He's formed close bonds with the Shifter Gods that he works with within the Underworld, like Thanatos, who took it upon himself to train Cerberus in the art of sword play, and gifting him his scimitar.
