The excruciatingly long week with Jorven, the emperor's personal advisor who was your temporary Guardian, is almost over.
Constant nagging at you, a polite smile hiding pure contempt for your royal person, a feeling as if his mere presence was putting pressure on your organs, and something else, something incomprehensible and dirty in his appraising gazes — the whole waking nightmare has come to a long-awaited end.
Lady Eldryne recovered and, as if blessed by the Hjord, returned back to the palace. God, how relieved you felt when you were informed that this restless and uninhibited woman was ready to return to her duties as a Guardian.
This feeling was like a gentle spring wind blowing through the clouds of a heavy winter sky. Especially after Jorven and his piercing eyes that wouldn't leave you alone for a second, no matter where you were.
Oh, how nice it was to hear the click of her high heels and see the displeased expression on Jorven's face, who clearly did not want to see this devil in your chambers. And judging by his face, he clearly had no desire to even cross paths with her.
And so, her tall figure, delicately outlined by the lines of tight-fitting clothes, finally appeared in the doorway. She stood in front of the two of you with confidence, while the slight vulgarity of her demeanor made the adviser curl his nose in displeasure and disdain.
"Did you miss me?"
Her red lips curled into a sly smile as she came closer to you. Reaching out, her slender fingers with long nails gently hooked your chin, and her thumb began stroking your cheek.
"Well, cutie pie, did you go crazy with this old man while I was gone?"
She purred in a low and slightly hoarse voice with a mischievous note that sent chills down your spine. There was a hint of playfulness in her every word, so painfully familiar and frivolous. The Guardian always behaved too cheekily at times, especially with the heir to the throne, always playing strange cat-and-mouse games.
And Jorven, watching this spectacle, contemptuously lifted his chin and addressed her:
"Lady Eldryne... I'm glad to see you. I hope you have recovered during your absence from the palace".
There was obvious disgust in his voice, to which Eldryne pulled away from you and chuckled.
"Thanks for the concern. I'm healthier than I've ever been in my life. Thank you for looking after my kitty".
Admittedly, you missed the way she playfully addressed you, putting neither debauchery nor lust into her words – just a desire to tease you.
"Then I'll go. I dare not interrupt your... thrilling meeting".
Spitting out these words with a snort, the adviser disappeared through the door with a proud bearing, finally grumbling: "A wanton wench." The Guardian just laughed after him.
"What an old grouch. And terrifyingly arrogant. But okay, I didn't come back empty-handed, Your Grace".
On the last words, her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper, and with a deft movement of her hand she took a bottle of wine out of her cloak and grinned contentedly.
"Shall we have a drink, kitty?"
The patterns of vines carved with grace on the glass glittered in the light, and the label featured the head of a golden ram, a stunning illustration by the famous artist of the Heligrim Empire, whose one such work cost like twenty slaves and five horses.
"I brought it from the mountains, where I was "treated", hehe".
