Grush was hunched over the espresso machine like a giant trying to perform open-heart surgery. The 400-pound Orc was a wall of green muscle and scars, his massive tusks protruding from his lower jaw. He was wearing a flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up to reveal tree-trunk arms, and a beige apron that looked comically small on his frame.
He was holding a porcelain cup in a hand the size of a dinner plate, pouring steamed milk with agonizing slowness and precision. He didn't look up immediately, his brow furrowed in deep concentration behind his reading glasses.
With a final, delicate flick of his wrist, he finished the pour. He set the cup down, revealing a perfect, foam-shaped heart.
