In the year 2318, in a hidden underground base, Gretel, the state-of-the-art metal femme fatale, takes a break from her intelligence-gathering operations by playing with a yo-yo.

Gretel was given this opportunity to take a break from her espionage operations by her current commanding officer, Angel Forge, as a reward for completing a very difficult stealth operation with her partner R-110, who almost accidentally sabotaged the mission several times with his over-the-top trigger-happiness. Gretel's partner R-110 was also given a break, residing in the armory at the other side of the base, becoming increasingly fascinated with what he calls "primitive projectiles". Friendly inventors, scientists, officers, soldiers, SecuriDroids, other human staff, and other robots occasionally roam the base, sometimes checking on Gretel and R-110.

The base is located somewhere in a desert not too far from the nearest city. The base's entrance houses many ground vehicles and aircraft and is hidden behind a holographic canyon wall. Inside, the base's armory consists of weapons and tools from several different eras. There are dorms for robots and dorms for humans, both across each other in a long hall at one side of the base near the eating place. Offices, briefing rooms, and training facilities are located in another side of the base. A large testing facility deeper underground houses many work-in-progress inventions and experiments and a time machine for time-travelling operations.

Other operatives from other organizations sometimes show up to help in time-travel operations. Sgt. Cortez, head of an elite unit of space marines combating the Timesplitters, is among these operatives, known to have a habit of making time puns and split puns. Chief Science Officer Anya streams info to active operatives, and The General, the boss of the organization that Anya and Sgt. Cortez work for, also sometimes aid in time-travel ops.

Gretel Mk 3 AKA Gretel is an alluring female robot with a sleek silver design with red accents, a slender figure with a ginormous bust and large derriere, expressive silver twin antennae, a sleek mouthless noseless face with glowing white eyes, and no hair. She is mostly bare but always wears red gloves and usually wears a red hooded poncho that barely covers her soft synthetic rack on duty. When not on duty, she changes to a tight sleeveless white hoodie that exposes her midriff, gray pants that have pouches at the pantlegs, and red sneakers.

Hailing from year 2318, Gretel Mk 3 was the latest of a series of state-of-the-art metal femme fatales, specializing in espionage and occasionally time-travel operations. Built by the advanced robotics company UltraNet, she is one of many precision killing machines, programmed with stealth and martial arts techniques from around the galaxy. Gretel Mk 3 was built to act as a more human-friendly variant than her previous incarnations, complete with reproductive capabilities and the art of seduction. Gretel series models in general were dubbed the original metal femme fatale for their efficiency in assault, infiltration, and intelligence-gathering operations. Every Gretel was programmed using knowledge of thousands of recorded secret espionage operations, accomplished femme fatales, and hundreds of detective novels, mystery novels, and spy novels that span from ancient history to the most recent date. Every Gretel always believes that with a bit of lubrication, anyone can be ready for anything.

Gretel is cold, calculating, highly intelligent, observant, resourceful, quick-thinking, well-mannered, protective, and respectful. She usually speaks with a slightly monotone robotic voice with a hint of femininity. She has a dry sense of humor and tends to nonchalantly say a one-liner after finishing a difficult task. She also has a habit of saying "With a bit of lubrication, I'm ready for anything." as her catchphrase either when asked if she is ready, when asked to do something that requires her to be ready, or when her resolve is questioned or challenged. She also gets asked to say her catchphrase by fans who visit her, and she happily obliges. Gretel Mk 3 was given new protocols during Ms. Forge's leadership to primarily focus on protecting the human race from hostile forces and to prevent further conflicts between humans and machines from happening as much as possible. Gretel retains most memories of her predecessors, Gretel Mk 1 and Gretel Mk 2, spanning centuries of espionage from the 2030's to her native time. However, whether she is the exact same individual as her predecessors is a matter that even she is unsure of. Gretel likes playing with her yo-yo in her free time, fascinated by how it moves and reacts kinetically as she plays with it. Gretel sometimes goes to the mall to buy "duty free goods" for herself, which consist of lubricants and a couple bottles of spirits. Gretel also likes teasing her over-the-top trigger-happy male robot friend R-110, who is kind of a dork and one of the popular R-100 series of war robots built for durability and battlefield operations. R-110 once accompanied Sgt. Cortez on missions in pursuing the infamous time-traveller Jacob Crow, who has been discovered still at large even after Crow's supposed demise. Gretel enjoys hearing R-110's corny one-liners, and she occasionally lets him join her on missions. Gretel also finds R-110's newfound fascination with what he calls "primitive projectiles" endearing, and has learned that practicing with them helps her efficiency in time-travel ops. Like many machines built by UltraNet, both Gretel and R-110 are waterproof. Gretel sometimes goes on time-travel missions to catch rogue time-travellers who try to tamper with history. She also encounters Timesplitters, hostile time-travelling creatures that kill time-travellers and anyone they see for unknown reasons. Gretel's current commanding officer is Angel Forge, a female elderly former soldier and engineer who fought in the Machine Wars for some time until its end in 2243 in her 20's before taking over the once-corrupt UltraNet to repurpose it into a more noble company. Angel's commanding officer was Mordecai Jones, the leader of the Resistance that Angel was part of, who died shortly before the end of the Machine Wars, promoting Angel to be the new leader before his death. Angel has a mechanical right arm and left leg, and her catchphrase is "Take a bite of this! It's a peach!", which Gretel tires of hearing. Angel also slaps anyone who asks her age. Gretel can use a variety of weapons ranging from ancient primitive times to her future native era. Gretel also has the ability to project a touchable hologram around herself to disguise as anyone to aid in her espionage operations. The lower area of Gretel's faceplate is made of liquid-metal, which opens up for oral consumption.

Other operatives from other organizations sometimes show up to help in time-travel operations. Sgt. Cortez, head of an elite unit of space marines combating the Timesplitters, is among these operatives, known to have a habit of making time puns and split puns. Chief Science Officer Anya streams info to active operatives, and The General (real name unknown), the boss of the organization that Anya and Sgt. Cortez work for, also sometimes aid in time-travel ops. Aiding in space ops are Fleet Commanders Hank Nova and Candi Skyler, who once survived the crossfire of the Mox Civil War (an internal conflict between the green aliens Ozor Mox and orange aliens Meezor Mox) on Planet X in 2280, shortly before the Koozer Mox took over as the dominant Mox species on Planet X. Candi is very self-conscious about her cute butt.
