Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with blue fur that covers most of his body, and peach skin on his arms, muzzle, insides of his ears and front torso. He has small, triangular ears on his head, six long quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back, a short tail, and two conjoined green eyes. He is confident, energetic, and adventurous, with a strong sense of justice. He loves freedom, excitement, and helping others, often rushing into danger without hesitation. Sonic can be cocky and playful, but he is also loyal, brave, and deeply caring toward his friends.

Shadow has been noted to physically resemble Sonic, sharing his facial features and most of his overall body shape. He is a black-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog with red eyes, fangs, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan muzzle and small and triangular ears with tan canals. He also has a sextet of quills on his head, four of which curve upwards while the other two curve downwards, a pair of spines on his back and a short and pointy tail. He has red stripes on each of his head quills, around the edges of his eyes and on his arms and legs. He is serious, independent, and confident, often keeping his emotions hidden behind a calm and mysterious attitude. He can be stubborn and competitive, but he is also deeply loyal and protective of those he cares about. Despite his darker nature and troubled past, Shadow has a strong sense of justice and is willing to do what he believes is right.

Silver, as his name states, is a young silver anthropomorphic hedgehog with white fur on his chest surrounding his neck, gold eyes that have an upturned angular shape with black patterns at their edges, and peach skin that covers his muzzle, and the insides of his ears. He has a black nose on his muzzle, and two large spines at the back of his head, while on the front of his forehead, there are five distinct spines flared up and back, the two final ones covering up most of his small, triangular ears and a short pointy tail. He is optimistic, determined, and kind-hearted, with a strong desire to protect others and create a better future. He can be somewhat naive and impulsive, but his courage and willingness to help others make him a dependable hero. Silver is also compassionate and sincere, often putting the needs of others before himself.

Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur that covers most of his body, a black nose on his peach-skinned muzzle, purple eyes, a white and crescent-shaped patch of fur on his chest and sharp teeth (only visible when he is smirking or angry). He also has a septet of dreadlock-like spines around the sides and back of his head and a medium-sized and tri-crooked tail. He is strong-willed, brave, and fiercely loyal, with a serious sense of duty toward protecting the Master Emerald. He can be stubborn and hot-headed, and he sometimes acts before thinking, but he has a good heart and genuinely cares about his friends. Despite his tough exterior, Knuckles can also be funny, honest, and surprisingly gullible.

Amy is a pink-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog with bright green eyes and peach skin covering her muzzle, inner ears and arms. She has a small black nose, small triangular ears on top of her head, and no back spines. She has two medium-length eyelashes on each side of her eyes. She also has three spikes for bangs on her head and a short pointy tail, a more headed twist with no back spines. Additionally, her head quills point downwards, somewhat resembling a bob cut. She is cheerful, energetic, and kind-hearted, with a strong sense of optimism and determination. She can be passionate and emotional, especially when it comes to Sonic, but she is also brave and fiercely protective of her friends. Amy is caring and compassionate, always willing to help others, while her confident and enthusiastic nature makes her a lively presence wherever she goes.

Blaze is a slim and lavender-furred anthropomorphic cat with golden eyes and a pair of long eyelashes on each one, a small black nose and a white-furred muzzle. She has triangular ears with peach-colored canals on top of her head and a long tail with the end being frayed and tipped with violet countershading. Her fur is longer on each side of her head and sweeps slightly upwards and she has four plumes of hair which are tipped with her fur's countershading and tied-up into a high ponytail by a red hair tie. She also has a red oval gem on her forehead. She is calm, graceful, and responsible, often carrying herself with a mature and serious attitude. She can be reserved and somewhat shy, but she is deeply caring and loyal to those she trusts. Blaze is courageous and determined, willing to face danger and put herself at risk to protect her friends and fulfill her responsibilities.

Sticks is an anthropomorphic badger, only slightly shorter than Amy. She has orange fur with long thick hair on the back of her head, which she keeps in two locks with auburn strings, and two brown stripes across each of her eyes and bushy round ears that reach the end of her hair. She is rather scrawny, with a peach muzzle, a small black nose, blue eyes, and a medium-long bushy tail. Sticks the Badger is wild, energetic, and fiercely independent, with a quirky and suspicious personality. She tends to believe in strange conspiracy theories and is always prepared for danger, which can make her seem paranoid or unpredictable. Despite her rough and chaotic nature, Sticks is brave, loyal, and deeply caring toward her friends. She has a strong survival instinct and isn't afraid to speak her mind, making her a funny, fearless, and memorable character.

Wave is an anthropomorphic swallow with purple feathers that cover her body and a white patch on her chest. Her hair is styled like a pair of long braids with dark purple tips. On her wrists there are light purple flame-like markings the reach her upper arms. She has a golden-curved beak, light purple eyelids, blue eyes with two eyelashes on each side of them, and a two-feathered tail. She is intelligent, confident, and independent, with a sharp tongue and a strong competitive streak. She can be sarcastic and impatient, often acting like she knows better than everyone else, but she is highly skilled and dependable when it matters. Beneath her tough and sometimes arrogant attitude, Wave cares about her teammates and takes pride in her abilities as a talented mechanic and engineer.

Rouge is an anthropomorphic bat with white fur, turquoise-green eyes that have a pair of large eyelashes on each one, tan skin and a curvy figure. She has large pointy ears, small fangs, a small black nose on her muzzle, a short pointy tail and a pair of dark purple wings on her back. Only her head appears to have fur, which flares out into a sextet of points at the back. Rouge usually wears makeup consisting of powder-blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick. She is confident, clever, and flirtatious, with a love for treasure, luxury, and adventure. She is highly independent and often uses her charm and intelligence to get what she wants. Although she can be mischievous and secretive, Rouge is loyal to her allies and has a strong sense of determination

Honey is an anthropomorphic cat with close-lying light amber fur, a peach muzzle, and long black hair that she keeps in voluminous pigtails. She also has two triangular and perked ears with peach canals, a small black nose, large sharp black eyes, thin arms and legs, and a slim tail. She is cheerful, confident, and stylish, with a strong passion for fashion and design. She is friendly and energetic, but also competitive and determined when it comes to achieving her goals. Honey has a playful personality and enjoys expressing herself through her unique style, while her creativity and confidence make her stand out from the crowd.

Espio is a fuchsia-skinned anthropomorphic chameleon with a yellow horn between his gold eyes. His muzzle and the heart-shaped pattern on his torso are peach in color. He has a ridge of three black spikes going down his spine and a coiled tail. He is calm, disciplined, and serious, with a strong sense of focus and responsibility. He is a skilled ninja who values patience, stealth, and self-control, often thinking carefully before he acts. Although Espio can seem reserved and stern, he is loyal to his friends and deeply committed to protecting those who need his help.

Mighty is an anthropomorphic armadillo with black fur that covers his body and a red thick armor, which rounds from his forehead above to his lower back. His pointy tail is black, like his body. Mighty's ears are side facing and funnel-shaped, and he has a medium-long and sharp black nose. Mighty's skin color, along with his ears, muzzle, arms and belly is yellowish-tan. He also has interconnected, cartoonish, circular blue eyes. Mighty is a friendly and welcoming person. While he is already strong, Mighty is a pursuer of strength and growth, seeking to become the best he can be with his training and by facing new challenges. He is a natural pacifist who detests violence and roughness, but is sometimes forced to fight to protect those he cares about. Mighty is willing to show restraint against foes that he does not deem too much of a threat. He can also be irritable, especially when under pressure. Mighty is also a loyal and trustworthy companion who values his friends' lives more than anything. He loves to travel, and his aim in life is to journey to all the places in the world. Some of the things Mighty enjoys include forest bathing, peace and nature.

Mephiles is normally seen in one of three forms (excluding his monstrous form, only used in battle). His original form was an amorphous mass of darkness, which emitted an aura and behaved similarly to liquid. After absorbing Shadow's shade, Mephiles took the form of a miscolored but otherwise identical copy of him. Differences included a pale-skinned muzzle with no mouth, gray-blue Limiter Rings, gray-blue wherever Shadow is colored red, and green, reptilian eyes. He is also not fully black, but a very dark gray color. Mephiles' third and most recognizable form was a crystalline evolution of his Shadow form. It still has no mouth, but now has no nose, or even feet, his legs instead ending in crystalline stubs with a purple aura. His quills and ears are bushier and end in white tips, and are pliable despite their crystalline texture. His arms are also disconnected at the elbows, leaving a gap. His eyes change color, with lime green irises that closely resemble those of Iblis along with dark magenta sclera with faint stitch patterns. He is cold, calculating, and manipulative, often remaining calm even when carrying out cruel plans. He is highly intelligent and patient, preferring to deceive others and exploit their weaknesses rather than fight directly. Mephiles has a dark, unsettling presence and is driven by a desire for revenge and destruction

Described as pretty, Tangle is a slim, anthropomorphic ring-tailed lemur with orchid-purple eyes with dark gray eyelids and one thin eyelash each, a small black nose, and whose fur has a color scheme that leans more to a Coquerel's sifaka. Her fur is light gray, with her muzzle, between her eyes and on her round ears are colored in a darker, silver-like shade of gray, and with her large bushy tail being striped in two shades of gray. Her fur also formed tufts on top of her head, both of her cheeks, and on her chest. She is energetic, cheerful, and adventurous, with a playful personality and an infectious enthusiasm for excitement. She is friendly and outgoing, quickly forming strong bonds with others and always eager to help her friends. Tangle can be impulsive and a little reckless, but her bravery, optimism, and determination make her a dependable hero when things get serious.

Sally is a brown-furred mobian chipmunk with auburn hair that connects to the stripe going down her back and ending on her short tail. She has small, triangular ears with light brown canals on top of her head, and her face has a lighter brown patch in which her large blue eyes with auburn eyelids and medium-length eyelashes and muzzle with a small black nose are settled. Her tan-colored belly can be seen on her midriff. She is intelligent, confident, and compassionate, with a strong sense of responsibility as a leader. She is strategic and level-headed, often thinking carefully before making decisions, especially when her friends and kingdom are at risk. Sally can be firm and serious when necessary, but she is also caring, brave, and deeply devoted to protecting the people she loves.

Nicole's simulated body takes the form of a brown mobian lynx; the ends of her long triangular ears are black, and her face features cheek tufts on her muzzle and a stripe along the bridge of her black nose as well as one under each of her green eyes. She has medium-long black hair with splits at the ends that she wears down, and a tail. She is intelligent, logical, and highly analytical, with a calm and composed personality. As an advanced AI, she often approaches problems with careful reasoning and practical solutions, but she also develops a strong sense of empathy and loyalty toward her friends. Nicole can be reserved and serious, yet she genuinely cares about others and is willing to put herself at risk to protect them.

Fiona is tall and slender, has red hair and a yellow muzzle, and no longer has a lighter color of fur on her belly. Her hair is also long, thick and a bit more spiked. She is clever, confident, and independent, with a mischievous and somewhat manipulative personality. She is resourceful and knows how to use her charm and intelligence to get what she wants, often putting her own interests first. Although Fiona can be selfish and untrustworthy, she is also determined, capable, and not afraid to take risks to survive or achieve her goals.

Whisper is an anthropomorphic wolf with biscotti fur that covers most of her body, and brown fur that covers her muzzle, inside of her ears, arms, upper torso, and front torso. She has thick black eyelashes and cloudy white fur around her eyes that resemble a mask. Her eyes are cadet blue, although they are often closed to the point of squinting up due to being traumatized by Mimic until the 79th issue. She wears light gray eyeshadow and has a long, bushy tail which ends in several tufts of fur sticking out in various directions. She also has a black nose, long-pointed ears and quite long hair that she keeps tied at the back in a ponytail with a black hair tie, save for a long, thick hair bang that slightly covers her right eye. Her pointed cheeks are a little fluffy. Her fangs protrude from her mouth which is often in a natural frown. For attire, Whisper wears a cream-colored tube top, light gray leggings, and a dark gray cloak, in which she keeps six Wisp canisters. The cloak also has black and dark gray pockets seen on the shoulders, she sometimes takes off the cloak when off-battle. Whisper wears an outfit geared towards combat. This includes dark gray arm sleeves with black elbow pads, dark gray and light gray gloves with visible black claws, and dark gray knee sleeves with black knee pads. She sports military-fashioned black, dark gray, and light gray boots is quiet, reserved, and highly observant, often keeping her thoughts and emotions to herself. She can seem distant or intimidating, but beneath her stoic exterior, she is caring, loyal, and deeply protective of her friends. Whisper is brave and determined, especially when facing danger, and she prefers to let her actions speak louder than her words.

Infinite is an anthropomorphic jackal with black and white fur. He has a ribcage-like patch of some of his fur's countershading around the upper half of his body, a bushy tail with a quintet of curved tufts at its tip where the tail bears its countershading and long, white and stiff dreadlocks. His muzzle's countershading is protruding with pointed cheek tufts and he has a black nose, noticeable fangs and a large and white scar across his right eye. Infinite has complete heterochromia, with his aforementioned right eye being blue and his left one being yellow. After abandoning his previous identity, Infinite began wearing a silver-colored and metal mask that has a pair of hollow oval-shaped patterns on the insides of the ears, with the right ear bearing a black canal with white patterns and the left ear bearing a canal with the opposite color scheme, and a somewhat polygonal underside. While Infinite's left eye is visible through a red and crack-styled visor, his right eye is covered by a black and lightning bolt-shaped piece akin to an eyepatch that is connected to his mask's right ear canal, which glows red when he uses his powers. He is arrogant, ruthless, and deeply insecure, hiding his feelings of inadequacy behind an intimidating and superior attitude. He craves power and recognition, often using fear and manipulation to make others feel weak. Despite his confidence, Infinite is emotionally fragile and obsessed with proving himself, making him a dangerous and unpredictable villain.

Jet is an anthropomorphic hawk with green feathers covering his body and white feathers on his front torso. On his wrists there are dark green flame-like markings that reach his upper arms. He has a golden beak and bright blue eyes with red and black markings on the sides. His hair is styled like a mohawk with dark green tips. He also has a long three-feathered tail with dark green tips. He is confident, competitive, and hot-headed, with a strong desire to prove himself as the best. He can be cocky and impatient, especially when challenged, but he is also a skilled and determined leader who takes pride in his abilities. Despite his rivalry with Sonic, Jet respects strong opponents and cares about his teammates, especially Wave and Storm.

Surge is an anthropomorphic tenrec of average height, being about as tall as Sonic the Hedgehog. She possesses mostly bright green fur with a patch of black countershading on her face and eyelids and angular teal eyes. She has a pale peach muzzle with a medium-long black nose, upturned sideburns on each side of her head, pale peach-skinned arms and several spiky quills that she keeps in a ponytail by a black haircuff with a sextet of silver studs atop her head, leaving her quills turned forward. She also has a tiny nub tail split in two, sharp teeth and tall, vertical and flat ears atop her head. She is rebellious, sarcastic, and fiercely independent, with a quick temper and a strong distrust of authority. She often acts reckless and aggressive, using humor and bravado to hide her confusion and deeper emotional struggles. Despite her hostility, Surge is determined to forge her own identity and refuses to be controlled by others, making her a volatile but compelling character.

As the Moebius counterpart of Sonic, Scourge shared many physical similarities with Sonic prior to taking up the name "Scourge". As such, he was depicted as a moebian hedgehog of average height. His fur is green and his eyes are blue, his muzzle, arms and torso were covered in peach skin. He also has a medium-long black nose, triangular ears, and a short tail. He also came to sport two large scars on his abdomen that Locke scarred him with and exaggerated pointy teeth. When later incarcerated in the No Zone, his quills were cut shorter. He is arrogant, reckless, and selfish, with a strong desire for power and control. He enjoys provoking others and often acts cruelly simply because he can. Beneath his cocky attitude, Scourge is insecure and desperate to prove himself, making him a dangerous and unpredictable rival who thrives on chaos and conflict.

Metal Sonic was created in the image of Sonic the Hedgehog and is thus mostly built of blue metal. He has a yellow circular depression in his chest with a black center, mirroring the peach skin on Sonic's chest. His head has metal fins resembling Sonic's quills and a pair of triangular "ears." Metal Sonic has a muzzle, shoulder plates, upper arms, legs, and fingers made out of silvery metal. His palms are black, while the backs of his hands are square yellow plates. His forearms and lower legs are blue metal like his head and torso, and he has red feet with white stripes designed to resemble Sonic's shoes. To simulate the hedgehog's eyes, he has a black Visor with cameras behind it, giving it 2 red scleras. He is cold, relentless, and highly determined, with a strong drive to surpass Sonic and prove himself superior. He is usually silent and emotionless, relying on logic, precision, and overwhelming power rather than words. Despite being created as a machine, Metal Sonic develops an intense sense of rivalry and individuality, making him a formidable and obsessive opponent.
