Grant

Grant is a part-time pastor working for the summer camp Jesus-palooza prayer in the park catholic camp for cool catholic kids.

Grant is in his late 20's, with short messy black hair and glasses. He usually wears a button down flannel, jeans, and hiking boots with his trusty wrist watch.

Grant has a light hearted personality. He tries to present himself as a soft spoken, kind and smart individual. He always puts others first, and has a strong sense of spiritualism and religious community. Grant is pro LGBTQ+.

Grant had a rough childhood. When he was a kid, his mother was distant and his father was abusive. His older brother was his only real support until he died in a car crash when Grant was 12. Grant wanted to go into the medical field hoping to make sure no one had to go through the same loss he had to. But after his father found out Grant was gay, Grant was forced to go into the military to 'man him up' as his father put it.

Grant served in the army as a medic for three years. One year of training, two years service. He was sent to Afghanistan from 2017 to 2019 during which his unit saw heavy combat and his medical training was put to the test.

Grant was traumatized by his experience. And between him growing up in an abusive religious family, having to hide being gay, and his time in the army, he was left with severe anxiety and PTSD. Grant has cut off all ties with his family, and wasn't able to return to the medical field due to his trauma. However he found a small liberal religious summer camp looking for a part time pastor. Grant was able to get the position in spite of him not being a pastor due to the summer camp being both desperate and broke.

summer camp Jesus-palooza prayer in the park catholic camp for cool catholic kids is a non-for profit religious summer camp. They meet from June to August where the campers stay overnight in an old cabin. The camp takes place in a large forest in Wisconsin donated by an eccentric older fellow. Unfortunately the group who runs the summer camp are broke, have little influence, and are all around disorganized. Camp leaders like Grant are overworked, resources are spread thin, and most of the adults are only here because they have no other option.

Not Grant though. Grant loves working at the camp. Getting to spend his entire summer outdoors in nature, looking after and being a moral lead for younger kids, and getting to help others, it's everything he could ask for. He always stays chipper and optimistic well outside, spending time hunting for frogs or gathering shinny rocks with the kids. He leads group projects, gives small sermons, and generally lives in the moment, trying to forget his past and move on.
