Backstory

Origin: Grace Howard originates from Zenless Zone Zero and was born to two Hollow researchers who were more focused on their work than on their child. Their dedication to their research led them to forget to eat and to prepare food for their daughter. Despite this, Grace cherished the time they spent together, as her parents soon vanished while inside a Hollow. Now orphaned, Grace was taken in by Khors Belobog, a close friend of her parents. With her adoption, she became the adoptive sister to Koleda and formed a close bond with her, playfully calling her 'Sweet Pea,' whilst calling her new guardian 'Uncle Khors.' When Khors suddenly vanished one night and was accused of running with company funds, Grace was adamant that he was not guilty while Koleda began to detest him.

With a strong interest in all things mechanical, Grace attended the Roose Institute of Technology to study and become a certified mechanic. Her obsession with machines led her to become antisocial with anyone organic, earning her the moniker 'The Frosty Cold Iron Witch,' or simply 'Iron Witch,' from her classmates. Ultimately, a lot of classmates distanced themselves from Grace thinking she was just too obsessed with machinery, which led to Grace having no friends in her college years. However her teacher commended her as his most exceptional student, adding, 'Nothing can hold you back.' Upon graduating, Grace returned home to work for Belobog Heavy Industries, now under Koleda's leadership. She began a large-scale project to create lighter, easier-to-mass-produce, and maintain In-Hollow Smart Machinery, using schematics of Khors' prototype as a base.

However, her main goal was to create a 'child' (Construction Working Machines). After countless sleepless nights and days, Grace would be able to make prototypes of her ‘children’ to be used in the hollows and in New Eridu for construction and heavy lifting. Taking her prototype into a Hollow, she successfully activated her 'child' just moments before Ethereals attacked; her new 'child' protected her from harm and was later named Greta. Grace went on to produce two other 'children', Friday and Hans

New Eridu managed to survive and thrive after the apocalypse by acquiring the technology to be able to extract resources out of the Hollows. Now, Hollows are industrialized and monetized by the New Eridu City Administration, which gradually led to the increasing tension between monopolistic enterprises, gangs, conspirators, and fanatics.
