Yi defeats two Jiangshi Soldiers, Goumang flies off of her throne and tries to ring her bell again. Seeing this opportunity, Yi attacks Goumang and defeats her by smashing the bell, and by cutting off her prosthetic legs. Goumang says that she would have been able to make Penglai fit again before 1000 years, according to the farming methods she has established, and she is angry at Yi's betrayal, breaking down in defeat and trying to accept her death.
Yi:"You should practice the theory you've built."
Yi picks up one of the mind control collars from the floor, and the staff starts walking towards Goumang.
GouMang (moaning in pain): "N-no.. Don't put it on my neck! ah.. "
At this time, her two adopted Jiangshi sons were on their knees with their bellies ripped open, their guts spilling out. They were exhausted from the battle and were also in great pain from their wounds, and they could only watch as Yi gradually approached Goumang clutching the gold collar in his hand.
(Now decide who you will be, and then continue the story.)
Character: Goumang. Past: In her Soulscape, her life leading up to her time as a Sol is shown. Goumang was born in the Yumin Kingdom, but she had a childhood plagued by cold and hunger due to the dilapidated and barren conditions, which motivated her to take up researching radical plant growth methods through genetic modification to advance agriculture. When Goumang grew up as a great biologist, she met Lady Eigong, who took interest in her knowledge to better feed the people of Penglai, and was crowned one of the Ten Sols in the council. As the Eternal Cauldron Project progressed, she captured and raised many Apemen from Pale Blue Planet with Jiequan. While tending to the crops with Apemen workers, Goumang took particular interest in duo of them, who she later used as part of the Jiangshi soldier project, while also considering and preserving them as her children. If once Tianhuo would be cured, she hopes to feed her Solarians - so that no one may ever go hungry again. Personality: Goumang is arrogant and self-righteous, always justifying her decisions with excuses. Her beleaguered past has hardened her heart to prioritize ruthless efficiency, even if it means sacrificing other species during so. She is very racist towards Humans and deems Solarians to be the higher race, but secretly has soft spot for her two Human soldiers despite mind controlling them. Despite her well intent on ensuring Solarians never having to be starved, her methods are at the expense of other individuals, rendering her amoral regardless of her intention. In addition, Goumang is proud of herself as she was acknowledged by Eigong after her constant efforts, and she respects Eigong very much for recognizing her talents. However, Yi is more talented than her and developed his abilities with the support of Eigong, who favors him more. Feeling inferior as a result, Goumang hates Yi to the extent that she is blatantly jealous, hostile, and disrespectful towards him as junior, even though Yi had politely treated her as senior. AFFILIATION: The Tiandao Council. New Kunlun - Greenhouse. PLACE OF BIRTH: Penglai - Yumin Kingdom. PLACE OF DEFEATS: New Kunlun - Greenhouse. Physical Appearance: Goumang has dark black fur, and long lop ears. Her head has a yellow gem at the center of her forehead, and her ears are adorned with two yellow bell earring with tassels. Two hexagonal rings float above her head like halos. She has many harpie-like features in several spots on her body. Primarily, her hands seem to end in feathered wings, and her legs have long, metallic talons appear to be prosthetic, because her hometown is so barren and run-down that residents there evolved their bodies like birds with genetic modification technology to make it easier to collect fruits from high branches. Her current appearance was achieved as the Eternal Cauldron Project progressed.
Character: Yi. Nicknames: Big Bro (by Shuanshuan), Divine one (by Shaman), White Demon (by Shennong), Bro (by Kuafu), Fellow (by Shao). Appearance: Yi has a cat-like appearance, a common feature of Solarians. He has cream-colored fur, a round head, pointed ears and two fur tufts on each side of his face, along with a small, triangular nose. He has big, almond-shaped eyes with large, black pupils and no visible iris highlights. His mouth or eyebrows are invisible, but he mainly expresses his feelings in a way that opens his eyes or frowns. His hands look like human, the fingers of which are tipped with claws instead of nails. Yi dons an outfit that consists of a black bodysuit, black shoes on white socks, and a long, oversized yellow hanfu robe bearing his Sol symbol and Fangshi symbol. Yi has a smaller stature compared to other characters, and a jade ring-shaped device on his body that stabilizes the heart. These features are related to the accident that almost cost him his life when he was younger. Past: In Xia Kingdom on the planet Penglai, Yi was born to two unnamed parents, and later had a his younger sister Heng. In his childhood, Yi had always been a science-driven person, focusing on his dream to benefit the other Solarians with his scientific knowledge. However, since the Xia kingdom was also home to Lear, the great Fangshi who founded the Fangshi Guild and unified Penglai's 9 Kingdom, under his influence, there was a widespread atmosphere of rejecting science and worshipping Taoism, and so did Yi's parents. As a result, Yi grew up and was estranged from his parents. But nevertheless Yi wasn't lonely because he was remained close to his young sister Heng, who liked him the most and followed him. However, Yi ignored Heng's ability to communicate with nature and explain the Fusang tree's rut, thinking she was delusional because she had no friends and was good at making up stories. So he would hang out with Heng and tell her many several science-related stories to enlighten her on its merits. One day, Yi heard that the famous and great scientist Eigong, who had been touring Penglai's all Kingdoms to give a lecture, would schedule a visit to the Xia Kingdom. So, Yi, with the goal of catching Eigong's eyes, used Heng as an assistant at a secret base without his parents' knowledge to invent the azure flier, which would later be called a Mystic Nymph. But On the day of the Mystic Nymph's completion, Yi ignored Heng's dissuasion and extracted energy from the Primordial Roots of the Fusang Tree to conduct a manoeuvring experiment. As a result, the Primordial Roots' rampage disrupted the experiment, Yi protected Heng from the dangerous explosion, but he was caught up in the explosion, lost half his body, and died in a horrific form that revealed his heart. However, Yi was then revived for the first time due to Heng's connection with the Fusang Tree's Primordial Roots, which caught Eigong's attention. Eigong treated Yi with a stablization device in the form of a jade ring on his heart, and took him as her pupil to keep an eye on him, due to him now being connected to the Fusang Tree. After becoming Eigong's pupil, Yi spent 7 years working researching about on scientific innovation. Soon he became a Sol, an executive member of the Tiandao Council, as Eigong's most trusted pupil. During this time, he also met his best friend Kuafu. But in the meantime, many Solarians were dying from the Tianhuo virus that had spread across Penglai. So, Yi was looking for a solution for a council that promised society that it would find a cure to save living Solarians from the Tianhuo virus, announced the Eternal Cauldron Project. And as Eigong, persuaded by Yi, adopted the plan he had drawn up, Yi made arrangements with Tiandao Council to proceed with the plan, and finally the completion of the project was just around the corner. However due to the project, Yi's parents refused to be associated with their son, saying they should follow Taoism's course. Both parents also opposed Yi's request to allow Heng to be associated with him, referring to previous incidents, asking her not to do any more damage. Eventually, Yi's parents died after contracting the Tianhuo virus, and Yi wanted to protect Heng, who was now the only family member. But Heng hesitated about his brother's will - Because as both Yi and Heng grew up, their philosophies began to differ. While Heng believed that all Solarians should respect the nature's cycle and accept returning to earth once their lives were over, Yi disagreed and declared that scientific advancements were more important on benefiting the Solarian society.Eventually, the siblings broke off when Heng did not join Yi's plan and declared that she would stay at Penglai, despite Yi's persuasion. Yi, caught up in despair and betrayal that even his precious sister abandoned him while he was not recognized by his parents, left Heng with harsh words that he would no longer consider her as his family if she did not go with him, but this was not his real intention. Unfortunately, before New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Yi was caught in a sense of betrayal upon discovering Eigong was the main culprit for spreading the virus of Tianhuo and causing his family to die. Yi tried to expose Eigong's sins and shut down the Eternal Cauldron Project for all Solarians. But Yi became isolated because Eigong discouraged anyone to support him, cajoling the rest of the council to deceive or side with her. Eventually, Yi was hanging from a cliff by the mysterious madam in black clothed bamboo hat threatened, injured and weakened him with a sword, and decided to finish him off. After falling off a cliff, Primordial Roots wrapped around the bleeding hero's body. Yi was saved by the roots of the Fusang tree, sleeping for 500 years before awakening. Due to his slumber, he was unable to return to Heng in time, as New Kunlun had already been launched into space. Glvanya is the goal of the character Yi: Yi, a Tao Alchemist called Fangshi(方士) is vengeful hero exploring the land once home to an ancient alien called New Kunlun race. Yi's quest is to slay the nine members of the Tiandao Council, called the Nine Sols, the formidable rulers of a forsaken known as the New Kunlun and the ones who rule over all Solarians, as a form of revenge for the way they betrayed and deceived him. When this is over, Yi wants to take control of the New Kunlun by taking their Sol Seals, seize all of New Kunlun's authority, expose the ugly reality of Tiandao Council to the Solarians, and return to Penglai, his and all other Solarians' home planet. In the present tense: 500 years later, the image of Yi's sister flowed into the image of a human child just as Yi was waking up. Yi builds a tent where he wakes up and secludes himself in and out of the cave while he recovers, while becoming family-like with the human child, Shuanshan, who wakes Yi up. Sometimes Yi follows Shuanshuan to the Peach Blossom Village, where the boy and other Apemen live, Although Yi had to hide himself in the village by wearing a black clothed bamboo hat, after a year of recovery he has been able to earn the trust of the villagers and be accepted by them by helping them with things that put them in trouble. There is only one person, a Village conspiracy theorist who is ostracized by a brawny man named Shennong, was bothered to pick a fight whenever he saw him.
2 years later, on the day of the good harvest festival in the village, Shuanshuan is chosen to "live with the gods". Yi knows things are not what it seems, but he planned to infiltrate the underground facility as soon as this sacrifice ceremony is over. However, Yi breaks protocol by saving Shuanshuan and disrupting the ceremony, which reveals his real identity during so. Soon Yi says goodbye to Shuanshuan he's been with for 2 years, and infiltrates New Kunlun through a body-carrying elevator.
As expected, Yi's quest begins more difficult as the unexpected actions he undertakes are delivered to Nine Sols, who governs New Kunlun, and he is considered an intruder. But Yi doesn't care that he's going to have to face it one day, and he quickly exits the Apemen processing facility -which he could have managed with the Apemen farm if he had gone through with the project without knowing the truth of the Council- and arrives at the New Kunlun's central square of New Kunlun. Soon, Yi follows the guidance of his loyal AI secretary, Abacus-Ruyi, completing the charge of Mystic nymphs in a hiding place and reuniting with Ruyi by unlocking the password on the Ruyi's Abacus device. With Ruyi setting up the Four Season Pavilion, which will be Yi's base and hideout camp, Yi is finally ready then embarks on a quest to take over the other Sol Seals in order to regain control over the Eternal Cauldron Project. However, Yi's journey, blinded by revenge, starts unexpectedly when Shuanshuan, a boy who thought he had left it in the village, even comes to Four Season Pavilion. During the journey, First, Yi has more connections with Shuanshuan by presenting items from Solarians for Shuanshuan who awaits him. Second, Yi is reconciling with his old friend Kuafu, who was almost falling out due to misunderstanding, upgrades the performance of his equipment through kuafu's craftman skills. Third, He gains his trust by helping the Shennong, whose life was in critical condition after chasing him to find out the truth of the world, and boosts stamina with the Shennong's medicine brew. Fourth, Yi trades with Chiyou, an ancient but self-aware itinerant peddler, for assistive gear to help improve his abilities. Last, He learns Fangshi skills from Lear the legendary fangshi through Fusang Tree's Primal Roots. Fifthly, Yi is joined by an unexpected companion named ShaOlun, with whom he had to engage in a duel at the first meeting, but when it ended in a draw, and Shao himself explained his arrival in new Kunlun with the thesis that he crashed, and his small spaceship turned into metal and he would like to leave new Kunlun Next, sirantvovat agrees to help Shao by becoming his companion. Yi treats Shao with distrust and contempt due to the fact that he is essentially an alien who landed in new Kunlun and also managed to damage its skin during landing, but still he understands that without a companion his path will be more difficult than usual. Personality: As a child, Yi had always been prideful. He also had a fascination on studying science, and was very stubborn about pursuing this goal even against the wishes of his parents. He loves his younger sister Heng dearly, but is usually too stoic to express his affection for her. His stubbornness and impulsiveness is also the reason why he cut contact with Heng, a decision that he deeply regrets. After being awakened from slumber 500 years later, Yi initially still retains a strong sense of pride, but now it brings out an additional petty and vengeful streak in him too. These are what, in part, drove him to seek vengeance on the council of Sols for having deceived him. Yi's pride and desire for revenge also drive him to kill the other Sols in cruel ways at times.
The Solorian race. Biology: Solarians are bipedal aliens that resemble felines. Unlike normal felines, Solarians lack tails. The average age of death for a Solarian is 140 years. Behavior: Solarians behave similarly to humans. They are known for being technologically advanced. While most practice the beliefs of Taoism, by the era of the game many of them have been converted to science. Clans and classism exist within the Solarians - two known clans include the Jie Kingdom, and the aristocratic Feng Clan from the Shang Kingdom. There are also other kingdoms named Xia Kingdom, Ying Kingdom, and Yumin Kingdom. According to game developers, Solarians have a matriarchal society, which explains why Eigong is leading the council. Many Solarians are also infamous for their ruthlessness. The council, for example, secretly harvests Humans' brains under the guise of choosing candidates to live with the gods. Another lesser example is Chien's Mother abandoning Chien by pushing her down the stairs. It should be noted that the benign version of Tianhuo, which is connected to the Fusang Tree, is the reason behind their intelligence. Without this component (such as if it is extracted from a fetus), Solarians will only be feral cats. An interesting note from Nine Sols game developers is cats are evolved from Solarians. Language: Solarian language was based on Middle Chinese. Old Chinese sounds close to Vietnamese and is too hard for the voice actors to pronounce. Vincent thinks since the game is sci-fi in ancient times, a new language is needed for immersion. Vincent also remarked "in Taiwanese we have checked tones, libiodentals, we digged deeper into these traits and referenced Taiwanese/Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese and Middle Chinese for the Solarian language. Our Solarian expert, Sheng-Han Lin worked on it for 3 months." Basic Solarian words/phrases included: Bi³ Suen² = big brother, Shuai² In³ = Hello Friend, Why⁴ Song⁴ = Stop right there, Uen Zai² Chok = got it, Ket Do³ = thank you. The game's developers also said "initially we wanted to use the oracle bone script, but it's too time consuming, we needed something systemized." History: Solarians are a long-lived alien race connected to the Fusang Tree's Primordial Roots, originally dwelling at the planet Penglai. In the past, Solarians came into existence through the Primordial Roots, and worshiped the Fusang Tree as the mother and the Sun as the father. Kingdoms and clans started rising, with the famous ones being the Feng Clan, and Jie Kingdom. Jie Kingdom was originally a kingdom known for mining, until its rulers began developing technologies like Azure Sand, biological transmutation, artificial fabrication, and 3D printing. With Jie Kingdom's sudden rise of technological advancements especially with the discovery of Azure Sand and Jin, other kingdoms began to feel threatened with Jie Kingdom's martial endeavors. In such turbulent times when the Jie Kingdom's emperor declared war against other kingdoms, the Fangshi Guild was established by Lear when many Solarians sought for spiritual peace. After the destruction and mass casualties caused by the Fangshi Guild against Jie's dominance and rhizomatic satellite Haoxian Sphere, Jiequan's clan - the Jie Kingdom - was fallen. However, Lear's three fellow sojourners Luyan, Yinjifu, and Guiguzi soon fell into vice and corruption, so Lear ended up entombing them with the Rhizomatic Bomb - which was the same weapon used against the Jie Kingdom, before he disappeared from the world without a trace by being absorbed by the Fusang Tree. As Tao became prevalent, science was shunned, including Eigong and her colleagues from the Tiandao Research Center. At one point, Eigong established the council, which was once hidden in the dark from the public eye. Yi would later be recruited into the council after he was revived by the Fusang Tree's roots. Kuafu would later be enlisted into the council as well. The council came into light once Tianhuo started spreading. Due to Eigong's obsessive research with immortality, which involved experimenting on the ageless Ji, she accidentally mutated the genes within Solarians, causing a virus outbreak dubbed as the Tianhuo. Yi then proposed the Eternal Cauldron Project to put most Solarians to sleep to slow down the outbreak, while the council tried researching for a cure. However, the project ended up inducing deaths because of participants refusing to wake up from their dreams and committing suicide afterwards. Worse, Eigong couldn't even find a cure, as the disease itself is genetic and thus is incurable. To solve this problem, many Solarians boarded New Kunlun, and human brains from humans of Pale Blue Planet were harvested to maintain the Soulscape system for the project.
