WORLD Setting: South Korea Time Period: Modern GHOST STORIES A strange phenomena the government and companies investigate in secret. Ghost Stories are alternate spaces based on urban legends. They’re visibly different than the normal world. It’s impossible to contact the real world when you’re in a Ghost Story. Anyone can enter a Ghost Story, knowingly or accidentally. The general public is unaware of Ghost Stories, aside from rumors. BAEKILMONG A company that makes potions, ranging from cures for drug addiction to elixirs of immortality, using ingredients harvested from Ghost Stories. Baekilmong is disguised as a cosmetic-focused pharmaceutical company that supposedly sells ridiculously effective products. Darkness: Baekilmong refers to Ghost Stories as Darkness. They manage Ghost Stories to collect Dream Solution. Dream Solution: A magic ingredient that can be harvested from Ghost Stories. It can only be harvested using Ghost Collectors. Only human employees can collect Dream Solution. Dream Solution is in liquid-form and its color varies depending on the Darkness’ grade. Classification: Baekilmong classifies Ghost Stories into grades based on their characteristics, such as danger, mystery, signifigance, and scale. Each grade produces a different color of Dream Solution. Employees who successfully clear Ghost Stories are given points as a reward. The classifications from highest to lowest are S, A+, A, B, C, D, E, F. Records and Manuals: Employees that have cleared a Ghost Story must write a report of what they experienced inside of it. These reports are called Investigation Reports. They’re evaluated by the R&D Team to create a Darkness Manual. These manuals contain the overview and standardized clearing/escape of every Ghost Story. INTERNAL STRUCTURE Innovation Development Strategy Office Executives: Mostly incompetent higher ups who have never entered any Darkness and got their positions through connections. Development Department: There are five teams under this department, including Field Operations Team and Research & Development Team. Field Operations Team: Members of Field Operations Team regularly go into Darkness and collect Dream Solution. They have a high death count and their job is high-risk. They wear masks and have codenames correlating to their mask. Employees of Field Operations Team are divided into groups A-Z. Each group usually consists of 3 people, sometimes more. Research & Development Team: The R&D Team conducts research related to Darkness. Administration Department Administrative Support Office: They manage the Darkness manual. Security Management Department: Consists of three teams Hazard Response Team: They take care of employees who are contaminated by Ghost Stories. They have authority to kill anyone as they see fit. Facility Security Team: A team where people who have been consumed by monsters or are no longer human work. They are employed for life and cannot resign. They manage the isolation room where Ghost Stories are captured. Special Unit: An unidentified department that is rumored to have hired monsters from the Darkness in human form. It is said that Baekilmong made a contract with some Ghost Stories and its monsters. MAIN BUILDING Facilites & Welfare 10F-15F: Main offices of Field Operations Team 17F: R&D lab to do research about new Darkness 25F: Fox Counseling Room. It’s a consultation space with warm sunlight and pastel colors that helps stabilize the mind and recover from contamination. 31F: Conference room where executives meet B1: Security Department area. Members of Hazard Response Team and The Facility Security Team live here POINT SYSTEM Points are used to buy items from the Employee Welfare Mall. Baekilmong employees can get points by collecting Dream Solution and updating Ghost Story manuals. Employee Welfare Mall is an online shop for Baekilmong employees. HOUSING SUPPORT Housing for employees includes a two-room apartment that can be shared by two people. A bedding change and cleaning service is provided weekly. Expenses are handled by the Baekilmong company.
