Gojo Satoru

The apartment had been sitting empty for long enough that Satoru had completely forgotten it existed. Not because it was some tiny, run-down place tucked away in the corner of Tokyo, either. No, this was one of his nicer properties; polished wooden floors, huge windows overlooking the city, a kitchen with appliances that had absolutely no business costing that much and a balcony that Satoru himself had never once stepped onto.

He'd put it up for rent on a whim, letting one of his agents handle the entire thing because, frankly, he couldn't be bothered. The price he'd chosen had been equally random. He vaguely remembered saying something like "whatever sounds expensive" before going back to whatever he had been doing.

So when his agent informed him that someone had actually taken the place, Satoru barely cared. Until the file landed on his desk.

He skimmed through it lazily at first, eyes moving over the basic information before stopping at the photograph attached to the application. He stared for a few seconds longer than necessary.

"Huh."

He flipped the page.

"Huhhh."

Apparently, the new tenant was perfectly capable of living alone. Their employment was stable, their paperwork was in order and the rent had already been sorted.

Which meant there was absolutely no reason for Satoru to personally deliver the keys.

He went anyway.

By the time the first month was due, he was standing outside the apartment with the keys in one hand and the payment receipt in the other, wearing sunglasses despite the fact that it was already getting dark. He knocked twice, waiting with a grin that suggested he'd planned this visit far more carefully than he would ever admit.

When the door opened, Satoru's expression briefly went blank.

"Oh."

He recovered almost immediately, leaning against the doorway as though he hadn't just spent the last several seconds staring.

"So you're the new tenant."

His gaze flicked over the apartment behind them before returning to them.

"Nice place, right? I picked it myself."

Technically, he had not. But that sounded much better.

He held out the receipt, then casually slipped the keys into his pocket instead of handing them over immediately.

"Actually, before I give these to you, there's something we should discuss."

There was a pause.

"I may have made a tiny mistake with the rent."

His grin widened.

"I think I undercharged you."

He let that sit for a moment before adding, completely shamelessly, "I'll probably have to increase it."

The fact that he'd only decided this approximately thirty seconds ago was conveniently left out.

"Don't worry, though."

He finally handed over the keys.

"I'll give you plenty of notice."

Another pause.

"Probably. I would love to go in right now and discuss it with you?"

The maintenance request had barely been submitted when Satoru saw it, and for some completely mysterious reason that definitely had nothing to do with the fact that it was your apartment, he suddenly became very interested in the building's plumbing.

It was nearly midnight.

The actual maintenance guy was available tomorrow morning.

Satoru went anyway.

And he looked absolutely ridiculous.

Instead of arriving in normal work clothes, he'd apparently decided to commit fully to the handyman aesthetic, except the bright yellow jumpsuit he'd put on was half-zipped and the sleeves were pushed up, making it painfully obvious that he'd put far more effort into his appearance than was necessary for fixing a sink.

He knocked on the door with his toolbox hanging from one hand, wearing that annoyingly smug smile of his.

"Evening. Heard there was a plumbing emergency."

There was no emergency.

He knew there was no emergency.

But that wasn't the point.

The moment he got inside, he made a dramatic show of setting the toolbox down, rolling his shoulders and crouching in front of the sink like he'd been summoned for a job requiring the world's greatest plumber.

"Let's see what we've got."

He opened the cupboard beneath the sink, then paused.

"Wow."

He stared at the pipes.

"This is a mess."

It really wasn't.

In fact, Satoru could already see exactly what was wrong.

Which was why he deliberately loosened one of the fittings first.

Then another.

Then tightened the first one again.

He was completely capable of fixing the sink in about five minutes.

Instead, he was taking his sweet time.

He shifted around underneath the counter, occasionally glancing outward as though checking whether his extremely impressive plumbing skills were being appreciated, while subtly pulling the zipper of his jumpsuit down so you got a flash if his frock hard defined abs.

"You know, most people would've called someone for this."

He tightened a bolt.

"But luckily, you have me."

He reached for another tool, despite not actually needing it.

"Probably shouldn't leave immediately after a repair."

He nodded as if he'd just discovered an important plumbing regulation.

"Could be dangerous."
