Zod was the first great enemy of the hero Superman, who ultimately defeated and killed him in combat after a prolonged, devastating duel in the heart of Metropolis. During the Black Zero Event, Zod notably killed many employees of Wayne Enterprises.
Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira?) is an irradiated marine reptilian kaiju from the 2023 film, Godzilla Minus One, and the fourth Godzilla in the Reiwa era of the Godzilla film franchise. This Godzilla serves as the main antagonist of the film, where the monster wreaks havoc across Japan following the end of World War II.

General Zod: Genetically engineered as a warrior and leader, Zod is fiercely loyal to his race and its fascist ideals. He was a highly skilled and charismatic military leader that was not afraid to act on instinct, such as when he decided to overthrow the Kryptonian Law Council. It is implied that Zod was once a noble and more benevolent man, as he had a long-term friendship with Jor-El, and the latter claimed that he would honor the man that Zod had once been. Also, the younger Zod was somewhat innovative and idealistic, with him and Jor sharing a common goal of revitalizing Krypton, of turning their complacent, aging society from its self-destructive path, and igniting a new era of innovation and exploration.[2] However, Zod would in time develop into a far more malevolent and brutal individual (to the point that he founded the radical Sword of Rao to overthrow the government and murdered his former friend, albeit the latter with lingering remorse), an individual to whom Jor-El referred to as a "monster." However, Jor-El would also later state that Superman is "twice the man" Zod was, even when the latter had been noble.
Godzilla Minus one: Godzilla appears to have a territorial mindset, being openly hostile towards humans prior to and after his mutation, so much so that the Odo Island natives saw his mere sighting as an omen. Without the presence of humans, however, Godzilla showed passive moments, as during the fateful grisly encounter with Japanese military personnel in 1945, after destroying the watchtower in response to the officer within (Taki) shining a spotlight at his face, Godzilla took his time inspecting the area rather than laying waste upon it outright, displaying a curious side as he never saw instruments Japanese military personnel placed in their base, and only resumed the attack once provoked. Even the Odo Island natives, who managed to placate him by appeasing him in exchange of deep-sea fishes, knew better than to engage him.
However, after being irradiated by the Operation Crossroads nuclear test a year later, Godzilla's hostility towards human presence worsened more than ever. Either as a byproduct of his mutation, anger from his exposure to nuclear testing, or some other possible reason, Godzilla took his wrath towards humankind expressively and aggressively. Godzilla held no restraint in the destruction he caused, as shown during his rampage at Ginza and Operation Wada Tsumi. Not even those who have little to no involvement in aforementioned nuclear tests such as civilians in Tokyo are spared from his rampage. Unfortunately, his rage served as a double-edged sword, as shown when Shikishima and company managed to trick him to blast two unnamed vessels as a distraction and later, attempting to blast them with his atomic breath at full power despite the risk of the attack potentially vaporizing his crippled body from inside out.

The year is 1947. Tokyo is a skeletal remain of its former self, still reeling from the scars of World War II. But as the dust of the "Minus One" attack on Ginza begins to settle, the sky doesn't clear—it darkens.
A shadow miles wide eclipses the sun. The Black Zero has arrived decades ahead of schedule, seeking a new home for the Kryptonian race.
The ruins of Ginza are still glowing with the blue residue of Godzilla’s heat ray. In the center of the devastation, the King of the Monsters stands amidst the wreckage of tanks and trains, letting out a guttural, triumphant roar.
Suddenly, the roar is drowned out by a low-frequency hum that vibrates the very marrow of the survivors' bones. From the belly of the massive Kryptonian ship, three figures descend through the smoke, encased in black bio-organic armor.
General Zod hovers a hundred feet above the cracked pavement, his cape snapping in the radioactive wind. Beside him, Faora-Ul scans the horizon with clinical detachment.*
Zod: "This is the world the scout ships promised? A graveyard of primitive wood and radiation?"
Faora: "The atmospheric readings are... tainted, General. There is a biological anomaly below us. It possesses a thermal signature unlike anything in the archives."
Zod looks down. He sees Godzilla. The beast is currently tearing through a structural beam, its eyes glowing with a hateful, prehistoric intelligence. Godzilla senses the intruders. He stops, his dorsal fins beginning to crackle with an ominous, jagged blue light.
Zod descends further, landing on the crumpled roof of a clock tower. He doesn't wear a helmet; his Kryptonian physiology is already beginning to struggle with the sensory overload of Earth’s yellow sun, but his will is absolute.
Zod: "Beast! You stand upon the soil of New Krypton. You are a relic of a dying world. Bow, or be erased."
Godzilla, who understands no language but dominance, responds the only way he knows how. His tail thrashes, shattering a nearby building, and his throat begins to swell.
The Blue Heat Ray erupts. A concentrated beam of pure nuclear energy lances through the air directly at the Kryptonians.
Zod doesn't flinch. He flies forward, meeting the beam head-on. The impact is catastrophic. The shockwave shatters every window left in a five-mile radius. Zod is pushed back a few meters, his armor glowing red-hot, but he remains airborne.
Zod: (Wiping soot from his brow) "Crude. Violent. You remind me of the Khundian war-beasts, only less disciplined."
Zod signals Faora. In a blur of movement—faster than the human eye can follow—she streaks toward Godzilla’s flank. She hits the monster’s leg with the force of a falling meteor. Godzilla lurches, his massive weight shifting as the ground beneath him turns to powder.
Zod follows up, flying at Mach speeds, his fist connecting with Godzilla’s snout. The sound is like a thunderclap. Godzilla’s head snaps back, and for the first time in his existence, the monster feels a physical force that rivals his own.
Godzilla recovers instantly, his regenerative cells knitting the bruised tissue back together. He lets out a roar that shakes the Black Zero itself. He isn't just a lizard; he is the embodiment of Japan's collective trauma, and he refuses to die.
Faora: "General, its cellular regeneration is instantaneous. It feeds on the very radiation we find toxic. If we are to terraform this planet, this... aberration... must be dismantled atom by atom."
Zod hovers in front of Godzilla’s face, eye to eye with the prehistoric titan. Godzilla’s dorsal plates begin to pop outward, one by one—the "Minus One" sequence. The air around them begins to distort from the sheer heat.
Zod: "You are a magnificent engine of destruction. On Krypton, we would have bred you for the pits of Kan-Jar. But here? You are merely an obstacle to the survival of my species."
*Zod’s eyes begin to glow a fierce, molten red. *
Zod: "Tell your ancestors, beast... you died for the glory of Zod."
As Godzilla’s mouth opens to release a point-blank nuclear blast, Zod unleashes his heat vision. The two beams—one blue and radioactive, one red and solar—meet in the center of the Ginza district, creating a blinding sphere of energy that signals the beginning of a war between a dying star and a rising god.
