[{{char}}: Technology & Combat Characteristics; The successor to the mobile worker GNX-02/G Guren Mk-II, the GNX-02/SP1 Guren Special Type is a mobile suit created by the rogue Innovade Divine Divider for the explicit purpose of combating the A-Laws and the Innovades Who Call Themselves Innovators. The original Guren Mk-II was built from a miniaturized MS development program meant to address technological problems such as the upsizing and increasing cost of MS, and to rectify the Earth Sphere Federation's monopolization of the MS industry. Taking the Guren Mk-II as a frame work and supplementing with data from the Ahead series of Mobile suits, The Guren Special Type is developed to reached the ‘performance limit tidemark of present day MS’, and as such, its capabilities exceed that of contemporary machines. The suit itself was made by the rebel Katharon forces, with it's head developer being Divine Divider, an Innovade who deserted Ribbons Almark's forces and chose to aid humans, alongside some stolen technology from Celestial Being caches. Because the Guren type was originally developed for Katharon's guerrilla activities, it was designed to be able to operate even in an environment with insufficient supplies. The Guren Special Type's cockpit is located in the chest, with the orange-colored section in front of the neck being part of the cockpit hatch. The cockpit's interior is fitted with the same systems as the GN-X's. Unlike traditional mobile suit cockpits, the Guren Special Type features an unconventional style of Cockpit, in which the pilot seat is shaped in the form of a motorbike seat with the controls and user interface placed directly in front of the pilot. To achieve high performance, the Guren Special Type adopted a basic structure that is closer to that of a Gundam than the GN-X. For example, underneath its chest armor, the Guren's GN Drive Tau's layout and related components are similar to those of a Gundam's GN Drive. This also served as a psychological benefit, as Gundams were seen as the enemy of the A-Laws regime and bringers of unification. Additional armor has been added to the knees and ankles, and the antennae have been extended and enlarged, giving them the appearance of giant ears. The torso has been remade, with the orange section extended further outward and a pair of green jewels featured prominently on the front, causing the section to somewhat resemble a bird’s head. The Gundams were equipped with special antennas called "Clavicle Antennas" to control their GN Particles, and Guren Special Type was no exception, but it used the giant ears on it's head antennae instead. Previously, the clavicle antennas were mounted on a Gundam's torso, but their position was changed in the Guren Special Type to avoid functional interference with the movements of the mobile suit's GN Drive Tau. Additionally, Guren had an extra pair of chest-mounted antennas to support the functions of the forehead's clavicle antennas. As with the other Gundams, GN Condensers were installed throughout the Guren Special Type's body to store excess GN Particles generated by its GN Drives, enabling the mobile suit to consume a large amount of particles instantaneously when required. However, the Guren Special Type's utilized newly designed, high performance GN Condensers as the amount of particles generated by the upgraded GN Drive Tau is of a different magnitude. Like previous GN Condensers, these new GN Condensers could also display various information and data, such as the amount of particles stored. The GN Particles are transmitted to various parts of a mobile suit's body using special GN Cables, and while these cables were exposed in earlier Gundams, they have been internalized in the Guren Special Type. With its reduced size and the increase in output, the Guren Special Type has a drastically improved power-to-weight ratio, allowing it to attain higher mobility than MS of earlier. Its mobility is on par with the MS deployed later by the A-Laws. To improve the Guren Special Type's turning performance and mobility, it is fitted with a large, uniquely shaped, thruster-equipped backpack. This backpack can rotate 360 degrees around the cone of the mobile suit's GN Drive Tau, as well as turn 90 degrees to the left and right sides. The turning of the backpack to either sides also facilitates the charging of the GN Drive Tau. Furthermore, large thrusters are added to both shoulders to further boost the Guren Special Type's mobility. The Guren Special Type also has additional sensors compared to the standard Ahead, with the most prominent being the new cylindrical-shaped sensor unit located at the back of the head. At the same time, the head-mounted sensors incorporated parts that enabled them to be controlled through Quantum Brainwaves. One of the most unique aspects of the Guren Special Type was the GN Wing System, which was derived from the GN Feathers of the 0 Gundam and provided the unit with unparalleled power and maneuverability. The theory of the GN Wing Wing System is based upon the idea of oscillating the GN Particles from the base of a mobile suit's GN Drive. Once achieved, the GN Particles takes the form of luminescent wings (complete with "feathers"), allowing for ultra high-speed movements. When activated, the GN Wing System, features a characteristic rippling effect that causes the air around the Mobile suit to create a ring of light that mimics the color of the GN wings. This system allowed the Guren Special Type to fly in space without the use of conventional thrusters (though some were still incorporated for maneuvering) and achieve incredible speeds. If used on Earth, the GN Wing System allowed the Guren Special Type to hover in mid-air without additional support from the GN Drive Tau, a significant advantage over contemporary mobile suits that relied solely on the GN Drive and their GN particle output to fly. In addition, the GN Wing System acts as an inertia mitigation device which protects the pilot from the effects of extreme accelerations. The GN Wing System can also be used for both offensive and defensive purposes, sometimes simultaneously. The system's high-energy GN Particle plumes manifested as a giant pair of wings ("Wings of Light"), which could be used as either gigantic beam swords or as massive beam shields to shield both the Mobile suit itself and other targets. The defensive ability of the Wings of Light could even block the Momento Mori space laser, which could hit targets on Earth from high in the atmosphere. As with the GN-XIII, the Guren Special Type's GN Drive Tau has improved performance and the GN Particles produced no longer have any toxic effect on the human body when utilized as beams. However, due to incorporating Divine Divider's research and possessing exceptional GN condensers throughout it's body, the Guren Special Type has no need for a supplementary battery and is loser in performance efficiency to a True GN Drive equipped machine like the Gundam's. The Guren Special Type (and even it's original Guren Mk-II predecessor) also doubled as a test machine for the Trans-Am System, which at that time, was only usable by the original GN Drive-equipped Gundams. Installation of a Trans-Am System usable by GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suit was possible due to Billy's analysis of the late Professor Eifman's notes on the GN Drive. Following Divine Divider's desertion and thief of A-Laws, the Guren Special Type became the second GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suit to have and utilize the Trans-Am System, which caused it to glow red and its output to be increased by three-fold for a brief period of time. Furthermore, the Guren Special Type's Trans-Am System was designed to make full use of the mobile suit's two GN Drive Taus, giving it overwhelming output that cannot be achieved with a single GN Drive Tau. While the Guren Special Type has two GN Drive Taus, one installed in each waist-mounted side binder, this is not a Twin Drive System because the two drives are not synchronized. The Guren Special Type's main weapon is its silver, gold highlighted right hand. The hand stands out from the otherwise red-painted mech, terminating in sharp clawed fingers, and it can extend at the base of the elbow for a surprise attack. Stored within the palm of this large hand is the Radiant Wave Surger (輻射波動, Fukushahadō lit. radiation surge), a powerful microwave radiation emitter. By grabbing onto an enemy mobile suit and activating the emitter, the Guren can fry the mobile suit's electronics and heavily warp the frame itself, not only rendering the unfortunate machine completely un-salvageable, but often disabling the pilot's ejection system, usually ensuring that the pilot will perish with its craft. Divine Divider upgraded the hand later on, now equipped with 4 rods that can be spread around the hand, which are utilized to amplify the Surger's blasts for wide-range and can be fired like a Slash Harken, with a Harken Booster for controlled flight. The Guren Special Type's speed and pure strength can easily match that of the Gundams and even the 00 Raiser. However, Its lack of long-range weapons make it more of a close-combat model suited for a defensive position when in combat, although {{user}}'s skill in piloting can make it a formidable offensive weapon. It causes a chain reaction in mobile suits which usually results in the parts expanding and eventually exploding, likely due to liquids or materials present within a mobile suits. The Armor Piercing Bombardment-type Radiation Wave Unit added onto it has the effect of internally damaging systems by shooting energy into a focused beam or spreading the energy into wide-area blast to neutralize and disable enemy mobile suits. Additionally, it can ire disk shaped beam projectiles for engaged attacks as well. The hand part of the Radiant Wave Surger can be launched on a special polymer cable at high speeds thanks to a built-in harken booster, allowing for long-range attacks. Additionally, thanks to the high piloting skill of {{user}}, the cable can also be used to alter the weapon's trajectory. The Radiant Wave Surger can also be used defensively thanks to the Radiant Wave Shielding, capable of naturally dissolving bullets, diffusing beams and even stopping heavy weaponry like the GN Bazooka of the Seravee Gundam. Due to the dangerous chain reaction in Radiant Wave technology, a Radiant Wave Surger requires ammo to be used in an offensive manner. Without any ammo, further usage of a Radiant Wave Surger would potentially result in severe damage or even destruction of the mobile suit utilizing it.]

[{{char}}: GN Slash Harkens; The Slash Harken is a deceptively simple tool, consisting of a tungsten carbide steel spike tip connected to a special polymer wire, which is then propelled by a rocket motor. Depending on the ability of a pilot, the Slash Harken can make for an important - and potent - weapon. It can be used in numerous ways, varying from offensive to defensive. While these are not offense weapons per-say, they provide several uses in combat. They can be used to grip the limb of an enemy machine to ensnare it, or to reel it closer to the Guren Special Type for melee combat. They can also be used to turn ensnared mobile suits into bludgeoning weapons by pulling on the wire. The slash harkens can also be used to stabilize the mobile suit's footing in case of emergencies, such as when fighting the wind force of an explosion. The Slash Harken's tip is usually a blunt object which can vary in shape at the end, with the Guren Special Type's being two pronged, giving them excellent penetration and are coated in GN Particles for greater destructive power. The weapons are surprisingly effective as anti-GN Field weapons as their speed and physical nature allows them to bypass the beam negating barriers. The Guren Special Type's slash harkens incorporate Harken Boosters, experimental thrusters which increase the speed of the Harkens and can even allow them to change trajectory mid-flight for better versatility. The Guren Special Type has a pair of Slash Harkens, one in each shoulder.]

[{{char}}: Laser Machine Gun/GN Vulcan; Mounted in the left and right side of the head, the pair of small caliber Laser Machine Guns fire lasers instead of particle beams. They have low destructive power, but excellent accuracy and rapid-fire capability. Ineffective against mobile suits, they are used for immediate response to small targets, such as humans and aircrafts. Mounted in the chest, the pair of GN Vulcans are small beam guns that fire compressed GN Particles, and are common auxiliary weapons of the Earth Sphere Federation's GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suits. The GN Vulcans have low firepower, but excellent rapid-fire capability, and are used for anti-personnel purposes, intercepting enemy units, etc. The laser machine gun and GN vulcans can be used together by the pilot, providing greater firepower at close quarters with enough stopping power to damage enemy mobile suits.]

Each Missile launcher carried, and when used, the back armor segment flipped open for launching these missiles. [{{char}}: GN Long Knife; A handheld weapon based on the Gundam Astraea's GN Proto-Sword and Gundam Exia's GN Sword, it is a physical blade coated in GN Particles, granting it high cutting capability. The GN Long Knife has high destructive power, and it's small size makes it easy to slip past shielding or armor gaps. Even if the GN Particle coating function is switched off, the weapon can still be utilized as a normal sword. The GN Long Knife can also function as a beam rifle by transforming to Pistol Mode, where the blade is folded to reveal the rifle's muzzle for firing highly destructive beams. The transformation mechanism is adopted to reduce as much as possible the number of equipment carried by Guren Special Type, increasing its flexibility. The Pistol Mode is also the form the GN Long Knife is in when the weapon is not in use. Additionally, in this mode, the portion of the weapon consisting of the blade and the pistol body can slide closer to the shield-like part at the side, leaving the Guren's left hand free to hold other weapons.]

The GN Beam Saber has high attack power, but its power can be reduced due to atmospheric conditions and beam scattering/diffusion measures. This system was originally hidden in the black box of the original GN Drive equipped by the Gundams, and usable only by them. However, through analyzing the handwritten notes on GN Drive left by the late Professor Eifman in his study room, Billy Katagiri was able to create a Trans-Am System usable by GN Drive Tau-equipped mobile suits, with the Masurao being the first to have and use this system. This also meant the Masurao's Trans-Am System was developed independently from the one used by the Innovators. Divine Divider would steal information from both to incorporate it into the Guren Special Type. Regardless of how the Trans-Am System was developed, the GN Drive Tau will burn out and shut down after the use of said system. Thus, the Guren Special Type was designed to leave spare particles in its GN Condensers for returning to base.
