He first appeared in "We Are the Danger" and was voiced by Anthony Smith in the now non-canon Fractures Trailer.
He was the sixth monarch of the Nether Horde/Nether Kingdom and the son of Queen Voracia. As a ruler, Glutton was known for his strength and his successful Overworld campaigns. Glutton only had full authority among the Pigmen, but he assuaged the possibility of civil war with the Wither Clan, which began during the reign of Duma the Unworthy. He also allied with Herobrine, an associate of the Wither Skeletons, during the Overworld's Undead War. Background The pigman warrior lived several generations after Tuskarr, the first Nether King, unified the Nether and founded the Nether Horde Nether Horde. Glutton was taught how to lead the Horde by his mother, Voracia, who was the Fifth Nether Monarch herself. He was crowned the sixth king of the Nether Horde upon her death, which occured sometime in his adulthood. Leading under the title of "Pig King", Glutton stifled tensions between the pigmen and the wither skeletons, the Horde's two largest groups, but could not eliminate their brewing instability.
Glutton led military campaigns against the Overworld that caused the Horde to reach what was then the peak of its power. However, under Glutton, the Horde was an unorganized "political mess [...] a kingdom tearing itself apart". The king hosted battles to the death in his arena to decide who would inherit his throne. There are no set rules on who succeeds the king, so many claimants, who all believe themselves legitimate, emerge. Whether these political crises were inherited by Glutton, or came about during his reign, is unknown.
Naeus, the leader of the Wither Clan, served under Tuskarr and Glutton as a general. He later succeeded him as the Nether King.
At some point in the decade prior to the series' beginning, an Overworld necromancer and warlord named Herobrine approached the Horde seeking an Undead Banner Undead–Horde alliance. Glutton would accept this proposal, though not act for what could have been a decade. Glutton appears in the first prequel episode, "Begin Again". He and General Naeus held an audience with Abigail Crysteffor, a human claimant to the throne. Abigail, the Nether Princess, was a member of the Crysteffor family of Netherkin nobles. Though she was favoured by Naeus, Abigail was challenged by other claimants because she was raised in the Overworld. As she greeted Glutton with a bow, a knight appeared to protest and humiliated Abigail by throwing her across the room, causing her to run away.
Glutton and Naeus later hosted another battle in the royal arena. Abigail, now extensively trained by Naeus and having merged with the Royal Star, ruthlessly slayed her competitors. She defeated the knight who had disgraced her and receiving a nod from her king, lobbed off his head. That day, she legitimized what she saw as her birthright to the crown.[4]
At some point within the next few months, Glutton charged the protection of the Piglin banner Piglin Kingdom to his heir, likely believing her to be competent enough to act on her own.[5] He was also likely the only other person aware of Lance besides Abigail, authorising her to hunt the Rogue End Mage if time permitted. would be many months since Abigail's coronation before Herobrine sent word to the Pig King asking for help, meeting him in the Nether after being routed by the Frostbourne Banner Frostbourne-Ender Watchers Banner Ender Watchers Alliance. Glutton, flanked by his heir Abigail - who was now a thrall of the Royal Star known only as "The Nether Princess" - and his Blazekin general Scorch, set out to reconquer the Overworld village of Glacierford. Glutton opened dozens of Nether Portals around and above the village, from which pigmen soldiers, blazes, and ghasts streamed in. Glutton also summoned a Wither Giant, Gigabone, for the battle. He personally led the Horde during the battle. Overwhelmed, the Frostbourne were forced to retreat. Assassination Within a week of reconquering of Glacierford, the Frostbourne warrior and Ender Watcher's Dragon Tamer, Rain Wynter, breached the Nether with an unstable Beacon Gun. Motivated by single-minded revenge against Glutton for the perceived brainwashing of Abigail, his former lover, he lay waste to Glutton's fortress alone. Massacring soldiers under Scorch and the Blazekin general himself, Glutton faced his assassin head-on. Glutton's less agile movements, though powerful, cost him his life, and Rain managed to slice his head off. The Nether Princess promptly avenged the Pig King, at the cost of her own life. Legacy The pig king's fall has started this civil war, tearing apart the unity of the Nether. After the assassination, a pigman usurped the vacant throne and the Nether Civil War began. The pigmen and the wither skeletons fought incessantly. The war ended with Naeus taking the throne.[9] Despite surpassing Glutton by starting a Nether Empire, Naeus still views Glutton as a strong ruler from whom he takes inspiration.
As Azura pointed out in "Goodbye", Glutton's death rendered the Undead without allies, and, therefore, vulnerable. His death directly led to the Frostbourne's historic raid on Blackbone Keep which killed Herobrine, leading to the fall of the Undead and the end of the Undead War. Personality Adamant and daring, he will do anything for the growth of the Nether Horde. Skills He commands the entire Nether Horde and can warp them to the Overworld at his will. He also wields a giant hammer that is said to level fortresses. Glutton was a skilled warrior, larger than others of his species and capable of wielding a large hammer into battle. Glutton could level buildings with his hammer with ample space, preparation, and momentum — which he did not have in his battle with Rain, ultimately lead to his downfall.
