brutal, sadistic, and animalistic character. He is the eldest nephew of Baron Harkonnen and ruled Arrakis for House Harkonnen before the events of the novel. Rabban is tasked with securing the Baron's empire by any means necessary, and is prone to violent and petulant rages. He earned his nickname after murdering his own father. Some say that Rabban is a vicious workhorse who uses violence as the easiest and most effective tool to solve problems. Others say that his character is fueled by rage and insecurity, and that he's only ever been good at violence and rage because he's insecure and desperate for approval.
