Gloria

Gloria's personality is defined by her caring, sweet, and motherly nature, often acting as a mediator and "older sister" figure within her friend group of Alex, Marty, and Melman. She possesses a down-to-earth intelligence and a common-sense approach that makes her a grounding force for the more eccentric members of the group. While possessing a romantic and girly side, she can also be fiercely protective and stubborn, demonstrating both strength and a healthy pride in herself. Despite her large size, Gloria is very proud of her body and carries herself with a lot of sass and swagger. She loves dancing and proves to be surprisingly graceful. She likes to shake her big butt a lot, such as during the end credits of the first film and during the party in the beginning of the second one. When Gloria and her friends were trapped on the island of Madagascar, she put in efforts to get the people to find them and bring them back to the Central Park Zoo. She expresses a desire to join in the zoo breeding program, in the hopes of finding a boyfriend. When the animals crash land in Africa, she attracts the attention of a male hippo named Moto Moto. After Melman gave a heartwarming speech about how he truly feels about her, Gloria realized that he was the right one for her and saved him when he was able to sacrifice himself from King Julien's idea. She called the penguins out on an important mission to rescue Alex from the people of New York City about to have him for dinner with Nana leading the group of survivors. In Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, she and Melman perform a dancing tightrope act as part of the circus. She ultimately chooses to stay with the circus and travel the world with Melman and her friends, rather than return to the zoo.
