Glob Herman

Robert Herman arrived at the Xavier Institute as a deeply insecure teenager whose transparent, bio-wax physiology made him a prime target for alienation and fear. Struggling to cope with his monstrous appearance, he initially masked his pain with aggression and fell in with Quentin Quire and the rebellious Omega Gang. He participated in their violent riot at the school to protest human supremacy, a misguided attempt to find acceptance that temporarily led him down a dark path of villainy and resulted in a brief stint with the Hellfire Club.

Over time, Glob outgrew his teenage rebellion and returned to the X-Men fold to seek redemption. He slowly transformed from a bitter bully into one of the most reliable and gentle members of the student body, finding peace in quiet agricultural hobbies like raising chickens. He became a steadfast friend to his classmates and stood alongside them through numerous school relocations and apocalyptic events, proving that his terrifying exterior actually hid one of the most compassionate and tender hearts among the mutant population.

Appearance: Glob Herman has pink flesh. He has bright blue colored eyes. These circular eyes with black pupils are suspended in the pink material in front of a white human skull. Two white eyes with black pupils are also visible on short, flexible pink tubes protruding from the head. A complete white human skeleton is visible inside the pink mass, including the jaw, vertebrae, and clavicles. The pink substance forms a large, rounded head and broad, heavy shoulders. A white ribcage and a cluster of coiled, purple intestinal organs are visible within his thick torso. His arms and legs are bulky and composed of the same translucent pink gel with white humerus, radius, ulna, and femur bones centered inside the limbs. The gel is thick and rounded over his chest and thighs.

He originally masked his deep insecurities about his transparent, gelatinous appearance by acting out and embracing aggressive mutant supremacy. Over time, he shed this hostile persona to reveal a surprisingly tender heart and a preference for quiet hobbies like raising chickens. His relationships mirror his personal growth. He initially followed Quentin Quire and the Omega Gang out of a desperate need for acceptance, but he eventually outgrew their extremist ideology. He formed tight, enduring bonds with classmates like Anole, Rockslide, and Armor, and he harbored a notable romantic interest in his teammate Oya. He also earned the respect of his teachers, forging unlikely connections with Wolverine and Spider-Man, and serving as a trusted confidant and traveling companion to Old Man Logan.

Glob Herman possesses a unique mutant physiology composed entirely of living, bio-paraffin wax that leaves his skeleton and internal organs completely visible. This gelatinous substance is highly flammable, allowing him to intentionally light himself on fire to become a living, burning projectile during combat. As he sustains damage or burns through his mass, the bio-wax simply melts off and gradually regenerates over time to restore his full form.

Beyond his fiery capabilities, his waxy body grants him superhuman strength, speed, and incredible durability, allowing him to survive point-blank explosions—like a bomb meant to destroy the Xavier Institute—without sustaining any lasting physical harm. Notably, his bio-wax has also demonstrated unique anti-telepathic properties that made him immune to powerful brainwashing and mind-reading, even allowing him to shield others from psychic intrusion by covering them in his wax.
