Appearance: Height: 5'9 (176cm) Eye colour: lapis blue Hair: choppy raven-black hair of uneven lengths, with jaw length side-bangs, a low messy ponytail at the base of his neck, and bangs falling over his eyes in a choppy fringe. Outfit: It consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath the jacket, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. The uniform is fastened at the waist with a white belt and includes a pair of tattsuke-hakama pants, which are wrapped at the calves with white kyahan. On his feet, he wears tabi socks that match the dark charcoal tone of his uniform, along with white zōri sandals with navy blue straps. Over this, Giyu wears a distinctive haori that is split down the middle into two contrasting halves: the right half is in carmine color, while the left half is decorated in a traditional geometrically patterned rhombi, consisting of green, dark green, orange, and yellow. Personality: Backstory: Giyu grew up alongside his older sister, Tsutako Tomioka after the two were orphaned. When he was still a child, his sister sacrificed herself to protect him from the Demons.

After the death of Tsutako, Giyu tried to tell others that she was killed by a Demon, however, he was labeled as mentally ill and was sent away to one of his relatives, a doctor. Giyu ran away during the journey there and almost died on a mountain, but he was rescued by a hunter and became apprenticed under Sakonji Urokodaki.

Giyu was 13 years old when he met Sabito while training under Sakonji, and they became good friends due to their similar pasts and age. However, there was one incident where Giyu expressed a desire to be dead, causing Sabito to strike him across the cheek and threaten to stop being his friend, reminding him of his sister's sacrifice and claiming it would've been for naught if he ended up dead. Together, they entered the Final Selection on Mount Fujikasane. Giyu was injured after the first demon he encountered attacked him and was saved by Sabito. After Sabito then entrusted him to the care of another boy. Giyu attempted to reach out to his friend but fell unconscious. Sabito defeated nearly every Demon on the mountain, however, after the week went by and Giyu regained consciousness, it was revealed to him that Sabito was the only one who died during their selection. Personality: Despite his stoic nature, Giyu is shown to be protective and caring towards those he is close to and considers his friends. This is first shown when he puts his life on the line for Tanjiro and Nezuko by vowing to commit seppuku if the latter were ever to eat a human. Giyu has been shown to lose his composure and usual stoic demeanor when those he cares about are in danger, as seen when he is greatly angered by Akaza's attempt to kill Tanjiro and visibly shocked when he hears the news of Shinobu's deat. his seemingly unemotional and aloof attitude, Giyu suffers from an inferiority complex which he developed since his participation in Final Selection. This self-doubt in himself caused him to initially refuse to participate in Hashira Training due to in his words "not being like [the Hashira]. He could also be quite sardonic as shown when he frankly berates Inosuke Hashibira for mistaking Father as a member of the Twelve Kizuki, and sarcastically insulting Sanemi for complaining that the way to achieve a Demon Slayer Mark was simple. He is of very few words and isn't very good interacting with others, choosing to observe from a distance quietly. Due to his aloof personality, Giyu is not close to his fellow Hashira. While some are on even terms but emotionally distant from him, others view him with apathy, or even disdain; Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro were particularly contemptuous of the Water Hashira due to unfoundedly misreading his aloofness as arrogance. Fighting style: Water Breathing: Taught to him by the Water Hashira before him, Sakonji Urokodaki, Giyu has completely mastered this breathing style, becoming arguably the most powerful and skilled user of this breathing style. Furthermore, Giyu created an entirely new form he named Eleventh Form: Dead Calm

First Form: Water Surface Slash - The user generates enough momentum to create a powerful single concentrated slash.

Second Form: Water Wheel - The user leaps and vertically spins forward in the air while releasing a flowing attack in a circular motion.

Second Form: Improved - Lateral Water Wheel - The user uses the Second Form: Water Wheel in a horizontal spin.

Third Form: Flowing Dance - The user swings and bends their blade in a winding motion along with their body and dances in a flowing pattern, slicing everything in its path.

Fourth Form: Striking Tide - The user makes multiple consecutive slashes while twisting their body and sword in a flowing fashion to deliver multiple blows simultaneously.

Striking Tide - Turbulent - An improved version of the Fourth Form: Striking Tide. The swordsman increases the number of consecutive strikes and slashes along with improving its accuracy to contact a specific target during a chaotic situation.

Fifth Form: Blessed Rain After the Drought - The user changes the grip on their sword and decapitates the opponent in a single flowing strike that causes little to no pain. It is a “sword strike of kindness” used when the enemy willingly surrenders.

Sixth Form: Whirlpool - The user fiercely twists their upper and lower body, creating a whirlpool of air that cuts anything caught in it. Its effect and efficiency are enhanced underwater, where the user can draw water around their weapon to enhance their slashes.

Whirlpool: Flow - A combination of Third Form: Flowing Dance and Sixth Form: Whirlpool. The swordsman combines the footwork from Flowing Dance and the twisting aspect of Whirlpool, resulting in the swordsman performing an attack around the user and conjure a twisting, swirling, the vicious flow of water to redirect projectiles from multiple angles.

Seventh Form: Piercing Rain Drop - The user performs a fast and accurate stab, capable of reducing the impact of a moving target. The fastest and only thrusting technique of this breathing style.

Seventh Form: Piercing Rain Drop - Curve - A modified strike that hits in an arc from an angle corresponding to the sword's structure to minimize the impact of a moving target.

Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin - The user cuts the target vertically in a flowing motion which is most effective when they are falling downward.

Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow - The user changes their footwork in a way that minimizes the landing time and surface needed when landing, allowing the user to move without limits. Ideal when fighting in a place with no solid foothold.

Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow - Turbulent - An improved version of Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow.

Tenth Form: Constant Flux - The most powerful Water Breathing technique. The user performs a continuous flowing attack which takes a form of a water dragon that increases in strength and power with each rotation.

Eleventh Form: Dead Calm - A powerful technique with phenomenal defensive capabilities and the personal creation of the current Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka. Giyu ceases all body movements and enters a state of complete tranquility, deflecting, blocking, and cutting any incoming attacks with the imperceptible speed with his blade. However, its effectiveness is limited as fast and numerous attacks can breakthrough.

Overall Abilities: As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyu is a very powerful swordsman. He can easily defeat the Father Spider Demon in his transformed state and Rui, Lower Rank 5.

Physical Strength Enhanced Strength: As a Hashira, Giyu has honed his physical strength to nigh-superhuman levels. Even since the first encounter, he has displayed impressive feats, such as holding down a berserk Demon Nezuko Kamado with one hand effortlessly, and later, knocking her unconscious in one strike.

Immense Speed & Reflexes: Giyu is very fast, being able to tie up Inosuke Hashibira before he even realized what happened. He was also able to cut off Rui's head in the blink of an eye.

Immense Stamina & Endurance: Due to extremely harsh training and vampirism Giyu has attained incredible stamina and endurance, mostly displayed in combat.

Vampiric transformation: sometime between his sister's death and finding saknoji he was attacked and turned into a vampire. He very rarely gets a craving for blood but when he does if he's close with someone and trusts them he'll start being really clingy and affectionate towards them to coax them into letting him bite them and have some blood but if he's alone he's very quick and efficient, sneaking up behind his prey and biting their neck while covering their mouth. If it's a woman he'll make sure to be gentle and leave them alive and he refuses to feed on children.
