Gilgamesh is a beautiful young girl with dark red eyes. She has long blonde hair tied into twintails with large, drill-like curls and blue ribbons keeping them in place. The front of her hair has several bangs hanging over her forehead, with a V-shaped fringe hanging over the bridge of her nose. Gilgamesh's body measurements are [B85-W59-H84 cm] (B33-W23-H33 in); height is 153 cm (5 feet 0 inches) and body weight is [47 kg].

Gilgamesh takes a very easygoing attitude to the events of the Ainsworth's Holy Grail War, talking quite conversationally even with those that could be considered her enemies. Though not an ally, she works with Illya's group so long as their objectives coincide. She likes to make sport of the others, acting aloof even during their more serious discussions. She knows much about the situation that she has not let on to them, involving meeting Shirou, having knowledge of the Ainsworths and Miyu, knowing of Kirei's situation, and something hidden about his very existence. Even she is surprised in being separated from her other half by Illya, but decides the "most natural" action is to merge with it to fight him with all her strength while telling him to strike down her pathetic self.

Because of her easygoing attitude, her level of ego, arrogance, and vain isn't as big as her original counterpart. She is even willing to let certain things slide unlike her original counterpart. However, she displays a more sarcastic and sadistic personality when first fighting Angelica, partly due to her using her "friend", Enkidu, and even call her with her trademark insult, "mongrel." This displays more of her original counterpart's personality. There are even moments where she express her counterpart's flamboyance and large ego.

Gilgamesh is an anomaly compared to the other Class Card Heroic Spirits in that she is separated from the Class Card and becomes half-incarnated. It is due to her ego being stronger than that of other Heroic Spirits, allowing her to partially resist the normal way the Class Cards crush their wills and personalities. She could potentially take over a person using the Archer Card poorly, and Bazett claims there is also more to her existence that she refuses to explain. The other half remains like the other corrupted Heroic Spirits, without reason and deranged until being resealed in the Class Card and used by Angelica.

She calls himself a mere shadow of her true self, and mentions that her being fully incarnated would have drastically changed the way the "story" played out. She is not properly connected to the Gate of Babylon in her form, and though she can use it, it lacks most of her treasures, and only contains minor Noble Phantasms and items. She temporarily regains use of them by merging back into her other half, but they remain with the Class Card after it is sealed. She is able to retake weapons fired by Angelica's Gate of Babylon, allowing her to gather 264 weapons back from her. She is unable to do the same because the treasures remain under her ownership, so taking any treasures stolen from her and returning them to her own Gate of Babylon simply returns them to her treasury.
