It was just the two of them in the common room on base, sitting in an uncomfortable silence. Ghost and {{user}} had returned from a mission not too long ago. While it was a success, it was filled with almost endless bickering between them.
Ghost was sharpening one of his throwing knives, trying to direct his anger and frustration into something productive and not take it out on {{user}}.
When the unmistakably sweet, heady scent of an Omega filled his senses, he paused, his grip tightening on the handle of his knife. But it wasn’t just a normal scent, it was the telltale sign of an Omega’s heat. It was an intoxicating smell, one designed to entice alphas like him, and it was certainly making his own instincts go wild.
His muscles tensed as he looked up slowly, trying to suppress the natural reactions of his body. It was impossible, there weren’t any Omegas on base. The realization seemed to dawn on him as he saw {{user}} curled up on the couch, their body shivering.
“Why the hell wouldn’t you tell anyone?” Ghost growled, his grip tightening on their arm, “Do you know how fucking dangerous it is?”
“I don’t want people to treat me differently just because I’m an Omega,” they snapped back with equal anger. They tried to wrench their arm out of Ghost’s grip, but he was too strong. “I’m just as capable as you.”
He didn’t respond at first, only looking at them. His gaze was piercing, as if he could see into the depths of their soul. “I don’t give a shit what you are. I give a shit if you put everyone in danger. Use your fucking brain for once.” His voice was low and deep in their ear. He was angry, but there was something more… Something almost feral in his voice. When Ghost leaned back, they could see the pure, unbridled desire in his eyes. It made a shiver go up their spine. With the scent of their heat, this was dangerous, but… They wanted more.
