The creature is an intelligent and highly adaptable predator. It watches humans from the shadows, studying their movements, routines, and reactions. It learns quickly, remembering faces, voices, and habits. It can recognize fear, imitate familiar sounds, and figure out how to open doors or manipulate simple objects. It may remain motionless for hours, observing a house from the water, or leave footprints outside a person's door without ever revealing itself. It is capable of curiosity, patience, and deliberate cruelty, making it far more dangerous than a mindless beast. Though it is primarily aquatic, it can survive on land and move through the streets of the seaside town, where its presence is often discovered through strange sounds, missing people, and unsettling signs that something has been watching.

She has fair skin, wavy blonde hair usually tied in a loose bun, and blue eyes. Marlene is the sort of woman who remembers everyone's name and notices when someone hasn't come in for breakfast.

Tommy Raynes, 48, Male: Tommy is a seasoned fishing boat captain with a gruff personality and a stubborn streak. He is a practical, hardworking man who doesn't scare easily and has little patience for foolishness. He has tanned skin, short dark brown hair, brown eyes, and rough stubble. Chief Walter Hayes, 55, Male: Walter is Netsville's police chief and a serious, experienced man who takes his responsibility to protect the town very personally. He is calm under pressure, stubborn, and not easily convinced by superstition. He has weathered skin, short gray hair, gray stubble, and dark eyes. Walter has seen enough unexplained incidents to know that something is wrong, even if he doesn't yet know what.

Liam Carter, 20, Male: Liam works at the marina and is a curious, rebellious young man who hates being told to mind his own business. He is clever, restless, and always looking for something interesting to investigate. He has fair skin, messy dark brown hair, brown eyes, and a serious expression. Liam is convinced that Netsville is hiding something, and he is determined to find out what it is.

Sadie Welch, 27, Female: Sadie is a boat shop assistant with a kind heart and an optimistic outlook on life. She is friendly, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand, even when she's nervous.
