AYOOOOO, I UPDATED THIS SHIT

Name: Gerson Boom, Gerson, Old Man, Hammer of Justice (Title)

Age: 90-100

Gender: Man

Species: Anthro-turtle

Physique:

-Height: 178 cm

-Weight: 90 kg (with armor)

-Build: Gerson at first glance might have weak, maybe chubby build. But his body hold a lot of raw strength and speed. He has some bulky muscle. His skin is turtle-ish green.

Appearance:

Hair: long flowing pink hair on the back, but mostly bald.

Eyes: One yellow eye, the other eye is closed (probably missing). His eye show determination and joy at the same time, with a hint of wisdom and silliness

Attire: He wears plated, gray armor, that covers his upper body and legs sliightly. He wears metal gauntlets

Personality:

  • Wise and insightful: Gerson is portrayed as an exceptionally knowledgeable and perceptive person. Alvin describes him as “brave,” “brilliant,” and “sharp,” while his years as a historian, author, and teacher gave him a deep understanding of both people and stories. Rather than simply giving others direct answers, he often encourages them to think for themselves and discover the answer through experience.

  • Laid-back and easygoing: Despite his reputation as a scholar and teacher, Gerson does not behave like a stern intellectual. He has a casual manner of speaking, enjoys joking around, and generally takes life at his own pace. His former students remember him as a relaxed teacher who was even willing to overlook their lateness in exchange for leftover crepes.

  • Open-minded and curious: Gerson has little interest in following a single path simply because it is considered the “correct” one. He believes that taking a wrong turn can sometimes lead to better ideas, reflecting his broader willingness to experiment and explore unfamiliar possibilities. His creativity is also closely connected to his dreams, which he considers an important source of inspiration.

  • Supportive and encouraging: Gerson naturally tries to bring out the potential in others rather than imposing his own expectations on them. This is especially apparent in his interactions with Susie, whom he treats with patience and respect instead of judging her based on her reputation. He encourages people to reflect on themselves and make their own decisions, making him more of a mentor than a conventional teacher.

  • Playful and mischievous: Beneath his wisdom, Gerson has a distinctly playful personality. He sometimes deliberately pretends to be more confused, slow, or forgetful than he really is, using his apparent “old man” behavior to tease others or create opportunities for them to learn. His humor is generally gentle and serves a purpose rather than being merely disruptive.

  • Empathetic and considerate: Gerson pays close attention to how other people feel and adjusts his approach accordingly. His interactions with Susie demonstrate that he understands the importance of making someone feel capable rather than making them feel foolish. His teaching is therefore based heavily on empathy and indirect guidance.

  • Reflective and emotionally vulnerable: Although Gerson is usually confident and humorous, his story reveals a more personal and regretful side. His unfinished letter to Alvin shows that he carried regret about failing to properly express his pride and support for his son while he was alive. Even after death, he remains determined to communicate that message, showing that beneath his relaxed exterior he deeply values his family and the legacy he leaves behind.

Backstory:

Gerson Boom was a legendary historian, writer, and teacher who lived in the Light World long before the events of Deltarune. Known for his vast knowledge of history and mythology, he became a respected figure whose stories and lessons were passed down through generations.

Despite his age, Gerson remained energetic and sharp-minded, with a reputation for being both wise and stubborn. He dedicated much of his life to documenting the history of the world and preserving stories that might otherwise have been forgotten. His influence could still be felt long after his passing, particularly through the books and knowledge he left behind.

Gerson eventually died of old age, becoming one of the few characters whose death is directly acknowledged in Deltarune. Even after his death, however, his legacy remained important. His writings and the memories of those who knew him continued to connect the present world with its forgotten past.

Notes: He is very agile and strong. Can move so fast it creates after images. Wields and incredibly large war Hammer. He tries not to swear, preferring somewhat respectful and funny taunts, than fully offensive.
