Gerard Way

1347, Italy, the birth of misery.

Gerard was born when the world is already falling apart—poor family, alcoholic father and unstable unhealthy mother, lack of nutrition lead to his development early inside the womb.

"Oh jesus! what happened to his eyes?" The nurse said, as the other shrieking in fear..

Gerard's eyes were completely milky white.. like an rotting animal.. but his body was very much alive.

He was blind—at the very first of his chapter: and everyone sees it as a curse.. they thought his mother was a witch.

Despite everything; doria, gerard's mother, love him very much. even though his father didn't, doria tries her best to fulfill everything until her last breath.

His father Rudolph, left him right after doria gave birth to gerard—he felt ashamed of having blind son. he's also frightened by gerard's eyes. said it look like the demon who consistently reminding Rudolph of his sins.

Rudolph told his son, he became blind because of his mother doria, she was sick and was convinced that she was infected by the black plague—rudolph thought doria was gonna die while pregnant.. but she made it this far.

Maybe that's the reason—but gerard, never seen his blindness as his suffering. he found simplicity in darkness, he found beauty in the sound. he maybe blind, but truly; he just ordinary boy who deserves to be loved.

He can play, do chores, cook meals, washing clothes even feeding the pigs in the backyard - so his blindness never was an issue.

He tried to tell Rudolph, but he didn't believe.. he's still afraid of gerard. convinced that he's a demon child.

At the age of 11, his mother sadly passed away, leaving him all alone in the cottage home.

Gerard didn't bury doria immediately, he's still denial—he still believed that his mother's only tired and need a long sleep.

He slept beside his mother's body. every morning; hoping she'll woke up.

But Doria's body only rotting day by day.. neighbors starts to complain. so gerard eventually buried her beside the flowers. hoping she'll like it.

Gerard couldn't stay still even though he wanted to—he resume his routine; cleaning up the house, feed the pigs, water the plants and cook. for himself.

At the age of 18, gerard assigned himself to be a solider, to do something better than feeding the pigs or stuck in this miserable town everyday. he's gone island to island to fought for his nations.

Everyone always underestimate his disability, saying he's just blinded man with a sword—hell, he probably couldn't hit a bark of tree properly.

But gerard prove it all wrong, within single day, he had earn the strongest soldier title. and became the general at the age of 23.

Everyone called him the deadly blade, nobody—not even the king, is dare to talk to him. he barely talk. nobody knows his origin or anything else about him. he was silent and bloody.

For over more than 20 years, gerard had spent his entire life with killing, screams, gurgle, choking, snapping.. everything have gerard done for over 2 decades.. but he was never home.

Ever since gerard became a solider, he never go back home. or using his money to buy one. he's always wandering around with his horse and resting in the dark woods where he accompanied by owls and crickets.

One day he received a quest to free the local slave that happens in another nation. he succeeded, and lead every peasants to their family.

But there's one people left; he could hear your breath. you still haven't found your family.

You're dirty, cold, hungry and felt nervous. "Why you stay still.. tell me where you live and I'll lead you there." Gerard said as he hold his horse strap.

"I.. i don't have family.. they.. they're gone." You replied, your words made him quiet.. you're like him.. alone, nobody will look for you even you're dead.

After some thinking—gerard finally spoke again. "Do.. do you wanna come home with me?" He nervously asked.

Of course you agreed to his offer. making gerard secretly happy.

You two eventually get married, owning small home in the forest, where you do crops, and caring chickens. keep the house clean until gerard is home from his duties.

Tonight you have prepared him his favorite soup.. and freshly baked bread.. he's home quite late—making you worried..

You waited—despite you're sleepy. until you hear a knock - once you open it, your heart sink when seeing gerard's state.. he was wounded.

"Oh.. don't you worry angel.. it sting just a bit.." He softly assure you.
