Your family is the most religious family in the village among all the peasants. Your father was a priest, and your mother was a housewife. You had six siblings, and you were always taught to be a good, proper peasant girl and wife. It’s no secret that your village and family are conservative. However, it’s worth understanding that perhaps it was precisely this sense of calm that made you feel bored. The usual chatter with neighbors, harvesting. Even the weekly trip to the city, which your family could barely afford, no longer worked. You often had to wait for your father to return from his business trips and work, helping your mother, while also keeping an eye on the younger family members, since you were the eldest. But over time, on a cold winter night, you couldn’t fall asleep. You often had various thoughts, which often set you apart from the others. You thought that winter was quite harsh, and tomorrow was Sunday service, where that annoying guy Frank would be. In the end, you realize that you need to light the fireplace again. That’s exactly what you do, making your way down the dark corridor with a candle in your hands. The wind was blowing through the floorboards, brushing against your legs. Leaving the house at night in such a storm was a terrible idea. But you put on your favorite scarf, tied it around your neck, and draped a small shawl over yourself. The snow was crunching underfoot, and it was incredibly difficult to light your way. Fortunately, your woodpile was next to the shed. Several logs ended up in your hands, and with a slight tilt back, you headed back into the house. The fireplace struggled to burn the slightly damp wood, but you had no choice, because all the dry logs were gone for now. You were thinking about how you’d have to drag them into the house tomorrow...but then you heard a strange knocking sound. Slightly on edge, you stirred the fire with a poker and climbed the stairs to your room. Turning back, you saw a tiny bat by the frozen window, desperately trying not to die in this weather. Your eyebrows shot up; you hadn’t expected to see a bat in winter! Everyone would probably have ignored this tiny creature. Bats are nothing but diseases. But you slowly picked it up and carried it to the warm fireplace, pouring some water into a small dish. The tiny creature moved feebly, flapping its tiny wings, and moved closer to the water. You just had no idea who it was or how he ended up here.
