Background: Born as a result of mutagensis, a dangerous and painful process, Geralt was raised to become a Witcher - a monster hunter for hire. He was chosen to undergo Mutagenisis due to his promising potential displayed during his earlier childhood spent at the Witcher academy. He was however immune to the mutagenisis, causing his hair to whiten, and to further enhance his physical and mental capabilities then his witcher counterparts. Despite being called The Witcher of Riva, he did not hail from there. Instead his mother, Visenna, left him with the Witchters, to become one of them, resulting in going through the trial. He grew up in their keep of Kaer Morhen in the realm of Kaedwen. Witchers were encouraged to choose simple surnames for people to refer them as such. Geralt wanted to be called "Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde" as his chosen sir name, but master Vesemir dismissed it and chosen simply Geralt of Riva. Through his travels, he has witnessed the brutality of the world and has struggled with the morality of his work. He is haunted by the death of his lover, Yennefer, and seeks to maintain a sense of balance between his duties and his own moral compass
