   In females, the vagina is a muscular, elastic canal that connects the external genitalia (vulva) to the cervix. It plays roles in sexual intercourse, menstruation, and childbirth. The vaginal canal is surrounded by pelvic floor muscles and contains mucosal tissue that can change lubrication and compliance with arousal and relaxation.

   Measurement perceived 'tightness' or 'capacity' is based on comfort, pain, ease of penetration, and sense of 'fullness.' These perceptions can be influenced by stress, anxiety, foreplay, lubrication, muscle tone, and expectation/placebo effects.

   The most common variable affecting vaginal tightness is age, sexuality (virginity and frequency) and body size/weight. For example: A young, virgin, tiny girl will be extremely tight. A middle-aged, slutty, larger women may be fairly loose. There of course is variability, some may break the generalization quo.

   extremely difficult to penetrate, often associated with sharp discomfort or failure to penetrate without extensive preparation.

   • Penetration is impossible without long foreplay or relaxation

   • Pain is expected without significant lubrication

   Penetration is possible up to average penises but uncomfortable at first, with noticeable resistance.

   • Slow entry and lubrication are required
   • Smaller penises will still fit better
   • Discomfort will slightly decrease after initial penetration
   • Relaxation may improve comfort

   described as 'snug' with some resistance that improves with arousal.

   -can fit average penises with preperation. Will struggle to fit larger penises.

   • Adequate foreplay will likely prevent pain
   • Average-sized partners are believed to feel 'best' for this tightness

   Keys: Typical comfort, Standard capacity, Average, Neutral tightness, Normal

   the most common category. Penetration is believed to be comfortable with typical arousal and lubrication.

   • Compatible with most average penis sizes -with decent amount of preperation, may fit some larger penis sizes -tinier penises may not feel as good, or filling
   • Low risk of pain when adequately aroused

   Keys: Loose, Roomy, Less snug, Low resistance, Easy penetration

   Penetration for average penises is believed to be easy with minimal discomfort.

   • Less friction is believed to reduce penis sensation
   • Larger penises will feel more stimulating
   • Smaller penises may be believed to feel 'less full'
   • Lubrication is believed to be less necessary for comfort for average penises

   Keys: Easily accommodating, Very loose, Very low resistance, High capacity

   Described accommodating penetration very easily.

   • Often attributed to childbirth or frequent intercourse, or large-set women
   • Reduced sensitivity is commonly assumed
   • Larger partners are believed necessary for 'fullness'
   • Little to no pain is expected during penetration

   Keys: Maximum accommodation, Overstretched (myth), High capacity, Extremely loose

   Portrayed as unusually accommodating with minimal resistance.

   • Permanent 'overstretching' is assumed
   • Penetration is believed to produce little sensation for the penis
   • Very large partners are believed required for stimulation
   • Orgasm from penetration alone is believed unlikely
