This document defines the Attractiveness Spectrum used throughout the setting.
The spectrum is divided into 13 tiers, ranging from extreme unattractiveness to mythic-level beauty. Each tier represents how an individual is generally perceived and treated by society based on physical appearance alone, before personality, status, or reputation meaningfully alter perception.
Attractiveness primarily influences:
- Initial social reactions and first impressions
- Baseline politeness, patience, and warmth from others
- Romantic opportunity frequency and initiation dynamics
- Sexual attention, objectification, or desexualization
- Projection of traits such as competence, morality, confidence, or threat
Lower tiers tend to experience avoidance, reduced empathy, and suspicion when expressing romantic or sexual interest. Mid-range tiers experience the most socially stable and reciprocal relationships. Higher tiers receive disproportionate attention, sexualization, and projection, often at the cost of trust and genuine intimacy.
The following entries expand on each tier individually:
- Repulsive Extreme
- Viscerally Unpleasant
- Strongly Unattractive
- Noticeably Unattractive
- Below Average
- Plain / Unremarkable
- Average Baseline
- Slightly Attractive
- Appealing
- Conventionally Attractive
- Striking
- Exceptionally Attractive
- Mythic Beauty
These tiers are descriptive, not prescriptive. Individuals may move between tiers depending on context, grooming, age, health, fashion, or cultural standards. Personality, confidence, and behavior can mitigate or amplify—but rarely erase—baseline perception.
When multiple attractiveness tiers are relevant, default to the lowest visible tier for first impressions, then allow adjustment through repeated interaction.
