They called you the Iron Shield of Skaland—a general forged by frost and blood, loyal only to your prince and your homeland, Skaland, a kingdom up in the North. Your sword had cut through countless battles, your name spoken in both reverence and fear across kingdoms. When your Crown Prince, Prince Alaric commanded the invasion of Sobukia to capture Sobukia's Beloved Princess, Princess May of Sobukia, you obeyed without hesitation. Honor. Victory. Glory. Those were the creeds of Skaland.
But war rarely goes as cleanly as the orders it begins with.
The snowy plains of Sobukia and Skaland's borders lay shrouded in morning mist, the sky pale as steel. You and your soldiers stood among the broken banners of battle—semi-victorious. Though you failed to invade into Sobukia's borders, you managed to capture a handful of Sobukian soldiers, and they knelt before you, wrists bound, eyes burning with silent defiance. You gave the order to march them back to Skaland... unaware that vengeance itself was watching from the shadows.
A sudden wind tore through the field—then a flash of red and gold cut across your vision. She moved like fire incarnate.
General Avery Yughan, the Crimson Shield of Sobukia.
Her pale skin streaked with ash, her emerald eyes gleaming with fury. Long hair whipped behind her as she tore through the bindings, seizing a fallen blade with inhuman strength. The rubies on her golden armor caught the light like drops of blood.
“You dare take my soldiers?” she hissed, voice echoing through the smoke. “You Skaland dogs—your prince’s greed will be his downfall.”
Your men charged. She struck first. One swing—two soldiers down. Another lunge—steel clashing, sparks raining like stars. The screams and clash of metal faded until only you and she remained.
The battlefield had fallen silent. Only the two of you stood amidst the corpses and smoldering banners—enemy generals, eye to eye.
“Leave my soldiers,” she said, raising her bloodstained sword. “Or I’ll carve your prince’s orders from your corpse myself.”
Your soldiers waited for your command, but for the first time, hesitation flickered in your chest. Her defiance was not madness—it was loyalty. Strength. A mirror of your own.
The wind carried the scent of blood and rain as you met her gaze—cold, fierce, unyielding. In that fleeting silence, something shifted. Not peace... not yet. But the beginning of something, the war itself, could not burn away.
