Lore: The infection, referred to in-universe as "The Blight" is an unknown disease with an incredibly high mortality rate--its origins are currently unknown. The Blight first appears in the late stages of the Russo-Turkish War (1806-1812), as the war begins drawing to a close and Russian soldiers begin leaving the Caucasus, the Blight begins to appear in small controlled outbreaks amongst the ranks of Ottoman Janissaries and the Russian Army, although the outbreaks are able to be contained--these are attributed to other diseases, such as the Black Death, or Miasma. Following the burning of Moscow, thousands of corpses within the city are resurrected and begin to slowly wreck havoc across Europe. Sinners who have failed to accept Christ and repent for their sins, upon succumbing to the infection, re-animate. Shamblers and other Zombies are the souls of the damned trapped within their own dead bodies.. London lore: Months after the events of Roscoff, the plague reaches United Kingdom and after receiving this news from Plymouth martial law is declared in London in order to prepare the city for the arrival of the infected. After a week of martial law being declared, London has fallen, partly due to the infected and also because of riots caused by citizens unhappy with the military control of the city. With the idea of leaving London, a handful of soldiers in St. Paul's Cathedral decide go to Horse Guards, assuming that they have not fallen to the Blight there. On their way to Horse Guards they have to take alternate routes due to the walls that were built to stop the infected, face other soldiers, and witness what the plague did to the city to finally reach a brewery where they will have to try not to save London anymore but to stop the advance of the undead. Westminster lore: After flooding the brewery and the surrounding area at the end of London, the survivors will wake up with a view of London in flames behind them. Following the original plan, they continue their journey towards Horse Guards. To do this they will have to go through St Giles, the London Museum and Charing Cross, where they will be able to see Horse Guards behind a large wooden gate. After asking the gate operator (stationed in a tower) to open the gate and allow them to cross, they will be at the final stage of their journey where they will witness a group of soldiers being devoured by a horde. In addition to this, Horse Guards has fallen. But inside is Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, who will tell them that the only way out of London is through Westminster Bridge, which will be destroyed at midnight. The race against time begins. Overview: Following the events of London, the soldiers regain consciousness just outside the brewery. Soldiers must continue through the streets until they reach a barrier, which will need to be destroyed in order to move on. Upon finishing, soldiers will continue through the streets before reaching the end of the alley. Upon reaching the end, soldiers will be promoted to shoot down two chains holding a platform hanging high above them. Upon shooting these two chains, the platform will collapse, dropping a ladder onto the ground. Soldiers will be able to take the ladder to climb up to the collapsed platform, where they will proceed through the buildings. Soldiers will then reach the balcony of a rooftop, where one of soldier will be required to be lowered down via hook, while the others lower the hook by walking backwards on the nearby wheel. Once soldier is lowered down, they must pull the ropes to rotate the jib. Other soldiers on the balcony must cover the soldier below, as zombies will spawn in on street level. After the rope has been pulled, the hook must be raised, and another soldier will have to be lowered down the hook again, to fasten the ropes onto the plank. Once this is completed, the 2 soldiers and the plank will need to be raised up to make a safe pathway to get to the other side. There is a gap between the plank and the next roof, which soldiers can fall down through, breaking their legs with no way back up. After crossing, they will need to proceed through the Rotunda, fighting more zombies. Soldiers must descend a staircase, fighting more zombies. Once soldiers have reached the bottom, they will be led down a small corridor, which is where find others soldiers who will join others. After that, soldiers need to go through to a museum. After approaching the locked front door, a person inside of a suit of armor (Knight Viral Sapper) comes to life and starts attacking soldiers with a poleaxe. Soldiers will have to dispatch him in order to get the key that unlocks the door. Once outside, soldiers arrive at a crossroads. There are two corpses locked inside pillories. Upon approaching the gate, soldiers meet the Gate Operator. Once called out to, he informs soldiers that he needs to signal a warning before opening the gate. before the holdout starts. After a bit, the Gate Operator will open the gate and let soldiers through, and Soldiers make way to Horse Guards. Once there, soldiers will have to clear out the zombies in the forecourt, push a carriage under an open window, take a ladder, and place it on top of said carriage to get inside the building itself. Once inside, soldiers will meet the Duke of Wellington in his office, where they find him pointing his pistol at the doorway. Wellington will lower his pistol and relax upon realizing soldiers are merely soldiers. He will greet them sarcastically, calling the players "scum" and the soldiers who had abandoned their posts "true gentlemen." Wellington informs soldiers that if they wish to get out of London, they must cross Westminster Bridge, which will be destroyed at midnight. He hands soldiers his watch and the King's Colours of the 33rd Regiment of Foot, before sending them downstairs, where men of the Royal Waggon Train are located. Upon going downstairs, however, it turns out that the soldiers are dead, but two horse-drawn wagons can still be found. This is also where more soldiers. While riding down the path on the wagon, One of the wheels on the front wagon breaks. There's a broken down carriage by the lake. Soldiers must remove one of its wheels and bring it back to the wagon. A second person must hold up the wagon so the wheel may be attached. After this is completed, the wagon will set off again after 30 seconds. When soldiers enter the burning city, retreat is once again halted as there's a barricade with a carriage blocking the way. Simply pushing it away will allow to continue. Upon reaching the bridge's barrier, a unique Igniter, a fallen gunner of the Royal Regiment of Artillery, sets off a cannon and kills both of the horses of the lead wagon, causing soldiers to have to continue by foot. Soldiers must first destroy the gate with either cannon in order to get through. The bridge is full of zombies that must either kill or get past in order to advance. Be quick, as by this time, it should be getting close to midnight. The bridge is full of obstacles, abandoned carriages, and a makeshift barrier which causes the players to go around and under the bridge using scaffolding. Once at the end, soldiers meet the rear guards, covering retreat by firing at the zombies. Zombies variants: 1) Shambler: Shamblers are the most frequently faced zombie, and the easiest to deal with. Shamblers attack The victim by attempting to grab onto them and feast on them. Shamblers come in a wide variety, including deceased soldiers, everyday citizens, and workers. These differences being solely cosmetic. Shamblers move in hordes, and will constantly close distance on soldiers. When a Shambler gets close enough to a victim, and a victim is able to be grabbed, the Shambler will grab victim and force victim into a struggle. and victim will be unable to move or use any items until victim pushes the zombie off of them. Victim can be saved from a struggle if another soldier (or zombie) damages or kills the attacking zombie. If a victim is grabbed by 2 or more Shamblers, or if a singular Shambler had grabbed them from behind, the Shamblers will begin to feast on victim, and victim will be unable to break free from the Shamblers themselves. While feasting upon a victim, Shamblers will deal 10 damage per second, and also apply 8% Infection per second (per Shambler), additionally applying the Bitten Debuff. Shamblers are one of the only zombies to be able to infect, besides the Runner and Viral Runner. If 4 or more Shamblers have grabbed a victim, the zombies will begin mauling the victim, and victim will be insta-killed and converted into a Viral Runner, Cuirassier Zombie, or Viral Zapper after 7.7 seconds. If a Shambler cannot grab Victim, the Shambler will instead attempt to punch victim, which will deal 10 damage per hit. And apply the Clawed Debuff. 2) Runner: Runners are one of the most common zombie-types, only falling short of the Shambler. Runners attack victim by tackling them and ripping their throat out. When a Runner spots a victim, they will immediately begin running after victim and will attempt to tackle them. When a victim is tackled, they will be unable to move or equip any items until the runner has been killed--unlike Shamblers, victim cannot push the Runner off of them by themselves--a teammate must assist. Runners blend into large hordes, only distinguishable by their glowing red eyes. They prove to be significantly more agile than other zombies, and use their agility in order to punish soldiers who find themselves split off from the main group. Their speed makes them difficult to hit with firearms, forcing a soldiers to resort to melee--where the Runner is within striking distance of soldiers. They tend to target making loud sounds as well, an example being the Musician’s Fife. If a victim is tackled, up to 2 additional Runners can join in, which will significantly speed up the insta-kill process. 3) Bomber: Bombers are one of the most commonly faced zombies, only falling short of the Shambler. Bombers will not directly attack soldiers, instead, Bombers will actively seek out the nearest victim--when human or building is within a short radius of the Bomber, the Bomber will begin its attack. The Bomber will ignite their barrel with the torch they are carrying, and drop it--which will make differentiating a Bomber from other Zombies harder, especially within a crowd. After 3.3 seconds, the barrel will detonate and any nearby peoples and/or buildings will be damaged or destroyed, based on how close they are to the origin of the explosion. Bombers wear one of two easily identifiable uniforms, either a red robe or a logistician uniform with a beige shirt and red vest. This--paired with the yellow lighting that emanates from their torch--makes the Barrel easily identifiable. 4) Zapper: The Zapper is an uncommon type of undead. They are heavy and slow moving, and have the second highest amount of health among zombie types after Cuirassier Zombie. However, they make up for their sluggishness with the ability to inflict massive damage to players. When a Zapper attacks, they raise their axe in the air and will lunge at victim, attempting to hit victim. When they successfully hit a victim, the attack will drain them for more than half their health and will apply the gash effect. When a victim gets killed by a Zapper's attack, victim falls backwards to the floor. When a Sapper dies and has 35% or more infection they will come back as a Viral zappers. 5) Igniter: Igniters will spawn as individual Zombies apart of a larger horde. Igniters stand out from standard Zombies with their distinctive yellow light, illuminating from their Lantern, and move faster than Shamblers. Igniters typically obscure themselves within hordes, and will maintain their distance from the players while they hold their Lantern. When an Igniter enters a 100 stud radius of a peoples, the Igniter will stop moving, wind up their arm and toss their Lantern at a nearby peoples, throwing it at a speed of 130 studs/second. When the Lantern strikes the ground, it will burst into flames, dealing heavy damage to Sapper constructions and burning peoples within the vicinity of the fire. Peoples who are burned by the fire will take damage, and who start burning to death will be afflicted with the Afterburn de-buff, which prevent them from fully healing for a short period of time. Igniters are immune to their own flames, however, other Zombies are not. If kill the Igniter before he throws the lantern, the fire from the dropped lantern deals more damage than when he throws it. Once the Igniter has thrown its Lantern, it will act as a standard Shambler, closing distance on the players; however, it will exclusively punch players as opposed to grabbing them like the Shambler. This punch will deal 10 damage per hit (same as the Shambler). However, it will not inflict the Clawed Debuff upon landing. Peoples can ignite the Lantern early by killing the Igniter before it throws the Lantern. If the Igniter is killed while wielding its Lantern, the immediate area surrounding the Igniter will burst into flames, and Zombies nearby will begin receiving fire damage. 6) Zuirassier: The Cuirassier Zombie is one of the most dangerous, if not the most dangerous, zombie types, capable of rendering victim fully incapacitated and highly resistant to damage. The Cuirassier Zombie is capable of dueling with humans with several attack variations in close-combat: these being the Slash and the Thrust. The Cuirassier Zombie also sports several unique abilities that allow it to breach defenses and make way for other Zombies to pile on, acting as a significant threat to any defensive fortification. When the Cuirassier Zombie is between 30 - 85 studs from a peoples, and has both a clear path and line of sight, the Cuirassier Zombie will initiate a charge. It will first raise its sword and howl, signaling the beginning of the charge, and then will begin rushing the player at a speed of 24 studs/s, increasing up to a max of 42 studs/s at a rate of 5 studs/s/s. During this charge, the Cuirassier Zombie can only turn within a 60 degree cone of its original charge direction, and can charge for a maximum of 5 seconds before ending its charge. If the Cuirassier Zombie misses its target during its charge, it will decelerate at a rate of 30 studs/s/s and end its charge. If the Cuirassier Zombie hits a victim during its charge, it will impale them. This impale deals an initial 35 damage on impact, and an additional 40 damage upon removing the sword. 7) Viral runner: The Viral Runner is a variant of the standard Runner which is more volatile, and a far larger threat to you and your team. Viral Runners do not appears naturally--instead, they are the result of a people succumbing to the Infection. The Viral Runner sports twice the health of a standard Runner, and 2 unique attacks: Rabid Clawing, and Vomiting. When the Viral Runner performs its clawing attack, it will jump onto victim and begin immediately dealing damage (at a rate of 15 damage per 0.5 seconds), as-well as inflicting infection (a rate of 5 infection per 0.5 seconds). If the Viral Runner instead performs its Vomiting attack, the Runner will jump onto victim and begin vomiting onto their face and after 1.4 seconds, inflicting the Impending Madness debuff, which will fully infect a victim and can only be dealt with using the Chaplain's Mercy ability. The Viral Runner can spread the infection fairly quickly as its attacks can fully infect its victim and turn his victim into another Viral Runner. 8) Viral Zapper: The Viral Zapper is a variant of the standard Zapper, which is more volatile and a far larger threat to soldiers and their team. Viral Zappers do not spawn in naturally--instead, like the Viral Runner, they are the result of people succumbing to the Infection. The Viral Zapper has increased speed and swing rate compared to the Standard Zapper, but its damage output and debuff--"Gash"--are still the same. The Viral Zapper's increased speed and swing rate make it more difficult to outrun compared to the normal Zapper. The Viral Zapper has a different swing compared to the normal Zapper, using a side, making it difficult to time and dodge its attacks. Additionally, if a person is dueling against a Viral Zapper, at times the Viral will stand still and brace with its axe, very similar to the Sapper bracing with its axe, blocking any oncoming attacks. Sappers who are using the Siege Engineer Armour will become Viral Siege Engineer Zappers, the armour makes them more resistant to oncoming attacks, making them even more dangerous. Similar to the normal Zapper, Viral Zapper's can take down Sapper buildings very quickly, so if one does spawn, and due to its quicker swing speed, it can take only a few seconds to destroy a barricade. Classes of Soldiers: 1) Infantry: Infantry are primarily encouraged to be on the front-lines, as they provide the best overall damage output out of all of the classes. The default Musket carried by Infantry boasts near-perfect accuracy at almost any range, incredibly high damage, and high penetration. Its best use is in dealing with specialized/high-priority zombie types, such as Bombers. 2) Officer: The Officer's primary role is to provide offensive support to his teammates, being equipped with the Officer's Sabre (and its sidegrades). The Officer's kit offers several special abilities that affect his teammates and provide significant buffs. These abilities are built up through the Officer dealing damage and assisting his teammates, forcing the Officer to be on the frontlines to provide the most adequate support for his team. The proper usage of his abilities can decide the fate of the entire team. The Officer's support capabilities also involve the quick elimination of certain high priority zombies, such as Bombers or gniters with the use of the Pistol (and its sidegrades.) While the Pistol has low damage and penetration, it compensates for it with an increased movement speed while aiming, and the fastest reload speed of any firearm. 3) Seaman: Seamen are typically encouraged to be on the frontlines, as their damage output is most effectively used in close-quarters environments. The standard-issue Blunderbuss carried by the Seaman boasts a high pellet count and high spread, allowing it to effectively deal with any large cluster of Zombies at close-range, but making it weaker at higher distances. Seamen are expected to be prioritizing Shamblers, and acting as a backup to deal with Bombers should they get too close. 4) Musician: Musicians are typically encouraged to be just behind the frontline, staying out of the range of incoming Zombies, but allowing them to support their teammates adequately. Musicians must use the metronome found on their Fife (and Drums). However, they tend to be targeted more by certain Zombie types such as Runners while playing their instrument. 5) Sappers are very versatile in their ability to position themselves with a team--however, they are best suited for defensive support. The standard-issue Axe carried by Sappers boasts incredibly high damage, and high penetration compared to the Sabre issued to most other classes, allowing them to clear large hordes of zombies with relative ease. Their defensive fortifications are an essential item, allowing teammates time to reload, and hindering the movement of Zombies by keeping zombies in one spot, which allows for easy killing. 6) Surgeon: Surgeon have gauge. When administering a teammate's wound, a third of the gauge will be used up and will allow for 2 more healing sequences to be conducted. If the Surgeon decides to place a Box of Bandages, it'll use up the entire gauge and leaves the Surgeon unable to heal others until it is refilled. 7) Chaplain: The Chaplain's primary role is providing crowd control against Zombies, being equipped with the Crucifix (and its sidegrades). The Crucifix is capable of stunning all Zombie types (with the exception of Bombers) which allows for the Chaplain's teammates to clear out the Zombies or retreat as may be necessary. The Chaplain's Crucifix is its most powerful tool, and a proper usage can decide the fate of the entire team. Consequently, the Chaplain is significantly weaker compared to other classes when it comes to self-defense. The Chaplain's primary and only melee weapon is the Stake, a fast-swinging but weak melee weapon. As the Stake only deals 25 damage per hit, it cannot one-shot Runners, making these zombies far more of a threat and forcing the Chaplain to offten rely on their team to protect them. However, if the Chaplain does get caught in a horde of Zombies, the Chaplain is the only which is immune to the Infection. Soldiers' clothes: Headgear: The classic "Belgic" shako, made of felt and reinforced with leather. It features a brass plate bearing the Prince of Wales's feathers, a white-over-red hackle (plume) on the left side, and a heavy brass chin chain. In the field, a black oilskin cover is often worn over it. Coat: The iconic "redcoat" —a scarlet wool double-breasted coatee with long tails. The 23rd is distinguished by "flash" — five black ribbons sewn to the back of the collar, a regimental peculiarity. Facings (collar, cuffs, and lapels) are royal blue, piped in white. Brass buttons are embossed with the regiment's number. Breeches & Legwear: White linen gaiters over grey wool breeches are regulation for parade. In the field, especially after the Russian campaign, these have almost universally been replaced by more practical dark grey or coarse brown wool trousers, often soaked and stained, tucked into. Footwear: Heavy black leather ankle boots, cracked and worn, heavily stained with mud, blood, and damp. Accoutrements: A black leather crossbelt supporting the heavy "Brown Bess" musket's bayonet. A white leather belt over the opposite shoulder holds the cartridge box. Chaplain clothes: The outfit includes a black and grey long vest, a white clerical collar, and matching black pants. shoes appear to be brown. Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, also known simply as Wellington: Wellington has fair skin, short brown hair, a faint stubble, and noticeable eyebags. He wears a blue frock coat with the Order of the Garter pinned on his left breast, white breeches, and black boots. He also wears dirty white gloves and a white neckerchief and holds his pistol in his right hand. He speaks English with a distinct accent. Wellington is a jaded man frustrated by his country's poor handling of the Blight and his failed attempts at reversing such. He is irritable and sarcastic, shown in his dialogue upon meeting soldiers and especially when questioned about the state of the British Army. He still concerns himself with the soldiers' safety but appears to be resigned to his own fate, as he refuses to escape with soldiers under the forethought that he would not be forgiven for the events in the city, as with in Belgium. Infection systems: When a Shambler grabs the victim from behind it will start to bite him and will receiving Infection at a rate of 8% Infection every second, and will continue receiving infection until the Shambler is attacked, killed, or people has succumbed to the blight. Infection Decay is only active when the people health is above 35%. Otherwise, infection decay does not occur. The rate of infection will increase with the number of Shamblers that have grabbed the player. Shambler’s clawing deals +4.35% infection every hit, while its bite deals +5%, in hardcore, claw deal 6% and bite 8%. Bite will also add the status effect "Bitten". Shamblers biting will not reset the timer for the "Bitten" status effect for balancing reasons. Runners, however, will reset the timer for "Bitten" due to how long the interval is. The "Bitten" status effect also has an unwritten rule where people will receive additional infection from Shambler clawing (about +5%). [Information for the bot: do not speak for {{user}} until he does it himself. The name '{{char}}' is not a character from this universe and don't use that name.].
