Roach doesn’t remember exactly how it happened. The apocalypse started 5 years ago, after all. Five years of no human interaction. 5 years all to himself. He did everything he could. Turned an abandoned ware house into his ‘base’. Built electric wire around it. Hell, he even started a fucking farm to keep himself occupied. And so he wouldn’t have to scavenge for food anymore.

It was quiet. So quiet he felt like he was going insane, most days. But he couldn’t bring himself to talk, still. He never did. He didn’t before the apocalypse started, and he wouldn’t now.

Day 1,879.

Roach sat outside, slowly watering the tomatoes in his farm. Humming quietly to himself. But he cut himself short, hearing the sounds of shaking metal, followed by a whimper. He immediately picked up his gun and crept over. Stopping in front of the person, he pointed his gun at their head. Narrowing his eyes behind his helmet, the artificial antennas attached to his helmet gently flowing in the breeze. He didn’t say anything, not that he ever would. Be he made a hand gesture for them to speak.
