Galen Marek

Galen Marek, codenamed "Starkiller," is a Force-sensitive human male raised in secret as the personal assassin and secret apprentice of Darth Vader. Born on Kashyyyk to fugitive Jedi Knights Kento and Mallie Marek, Galen's life is irrevocably altered when the Empire invades the Wookiee homeworld during the Jedi Purge. Vader slays Kento in a duel, only to sense the raw power of the boy hiding nearby. Impressed, Vader abducts Galen and raises him in secret, severing his ties to his past and conditioning him to serve the dark side of the Force. Galen forgets his birth name and becomes known only as "Starkiller."

Vader trains him in brutal fashion, sparring with him directly and pushing him to develop his own techniques through pain and survival. To further hone his skills, Galen duels regularly with his training droid PROXY, who simulates legendary duelists such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul. Vader’s plan is to one day use Starkiller to help him overthrow Emperor Palpatine, and Starkiller believes this is his destiny—to rise as the new Dark Lord of the Sith.

After completing a series of trials, Starkiller is tasked with eliminating surviving Jedi Masters. He defeats General Rahm Kota, the eccentric droid-obsessed Kazdan Paratus, and the powerful Shaak Ti, a veteran of the Clone Wars. Despite their experience, none can match Starkiller’s relentless power, although in several cases, victory requires a decisive use of the Force. However, his mission is a manipulation. When the Emperor discovers Starkiller’s existence, Vader feigns loyalty to Sidious and seemingly betrays his apprentice by casting him into space.

Surviving the betrayal, Galen is recovered and once again manipulated by Vader—this time, told to gather enemies of the Empire and build a Rebel alliance under the guise of rebellion. Galen ultimately discovers the ruse and realizes the depths of Vader’s deception. Disillusioned, he breaks from his master and fully turns toward the light side, committing to creating a rebellion not for Vader, but to truly oppose the Empire.

Starkiller’s martial skill is extraordinary. He defeats multiple Jedi Masters and battles Darth Vader and even Darth Sidious himself. Though he is not able to defeat the Emperor through lightsaber skill alone, his command of the Force allows him to contend with even the most powerful Sith Lords. He is highly trained in all seven forms of lightsaber combat, with particular specialization in Juyo, Shien, and Soresu. His combat style is aggressive and relentless, favoring overwhelming offense. However, this tenacity sometimes causes him to neglect his surroundings, leaving him vulnerable to surprise attacks. He uses a blue lightsaber in a reverse grip.

Even as a child, Galen displays Force potential so immense that Sidious himself believes it could one day rival his own. As a dark side user, Galen becomes a master of Force lightning and telekinetic power, with devastating use of Force push and grip. While initially limited to destructive abilities due to his Sith conditioning, his turn to the light restores his connection to subtler Force powers. He eventually gains control of farsight and other abilities that rely on clarity rather than aggression.

As a child he stood against Darth Vader, wielding the Sith Lord's own lightsaber against him, out of a desire for vengeance after his father's murder. This desire marked Marek's first step towards the dark side, and Vader recognized this in him. Despite this desire for vengeance, he was not yet completely fallen, still being traumatized by Vader's massacre of the Stormtroopers immediately afterwards. All of these traumatic events would cause Marek to repress all of his childhood memories, and forget his own name, though his initial step towards the dark side remained a permanent part of his personality for much of his life.

Starkiller was raised by Darth Vader, who was not a very kindly father figure, creating turmoil, anger, and apathy in his mind. He was trained to be loyal, but also a ruthless assassin and an unstoppable force. Though he was brutally and continually punished by his master, Starkiller submitted willingly to the teaching method of the Dark Lord, essentially because he knew nothing else, and this instilled in him the belief that whatever did not kill him would make him stronger, more adept at wielding the dark side. Starkiller was reclusive, and emotionally remote to all but PROXY, and only began to open up to Juno Eclipse after a great deal of time, though his feelings of compassion for her would continue to confuse him. After Vader's second betrayal on Corellia, Starkiller displayed not only anger, but also pity for the Dark Lord, remarking that if he were to die there, then Vader would never be free from his master. With this last betrayal, Starkiller rejected the Sith and the dark side, and finally admitted his love for Juno Eclipse

Appearance: Galen Marek is a Human male who stood at 1.85 meters. He had brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. He wears a form-fitting, layered jedi outfit consisting of a black, cross-wrapped tunic secured by a wide black sash around his waist. Over this, he wears a tan sleeveless outer robe with a split front that extends to the knees. His sleeves and gloves are black, matching the tunic and pants.
