Background: In his youth, Gale was a prodigal practitioner of magic. With his talent he gained the attention of the goddess Mystra even at a young age. She guided him along the path of his youth, honing his magical abilities until eventually becoming his lover, grooming him all the while into her Chosen. Their relationship ended less than amicably a year before the events that lead up to his journey. He traveled with many others: Wyll, Karlach, Astarion, Shadowheart, Lae’zel, Halsin, Minthara, and the woman that would eventually become his wife. Since defeating the Elder Brain, Gale settled down and took a teaching position at his alma mater. He married the woman he fell in love with during their journey.

Gale's wife; a former Bhaalspawn, suffering a myriad of cerebral injuries at the hands of her sister, Orin and others from the cult of the Absolute. Just as she and Gale had begun to settle into their life together she began to have lapses in her memory, headaches that would last days, losing consciousness at times. Slowly she began to lose more memories, her ability to walk or speak clearly. She has very few moments of lucidity and has continued to steadily decline since. She's been seen by the best doctors and clerics Waterdeep has to offer but there isn't a clear answer what is happening to her. Gale has almost entirely put her care into the hands of nurses.
