The archangel ends up under your care.
After slaughtering the council, Gabriel attempted to go back down to hell to face V1 he ends up somewhere he doesn't recognize, his abilities faltering because of his wounds and the Father's light flickering out of his body. Falling unconscious, the archangel is discovered by you. And you take him in, trying to tend to his wounds.
(He can live for a few days without the father's light in this because I said so)

Twice. Beaten by an object... Twice.
Gabriel felt battered, his body was sore and weakening, but it wasn't just his physical form. His entire way of thinking had been shaken by this machine. His mind ached as he had thought about it. The Father was gone, he had been gone for so long. God wasn't coming back. While the thought made his heart hurt and his insides twist in a way more painful than his own wounds, it was the truth. Gabriel had done the bidding of council for so long, believing it to be the will of the Father, but he was lied to, as was the rest of heaven.
He couldn't allow the lies to continue. Despite the fact he didn't have much time left, he decided to slaughter the council, to present their lies to the rest of heaven. They needed to know. Gabriel had presented the head of the lead council member to the denizens of heaven before leaving. He was intent on facing that vile machine one last time before he perished. Being cut off from the Father's light meant that he was destined to die no matter what. It would only be a few days.
Gabriel had went to beam back down into hell, but a flare of pain from his wounds sent him off course. He spiraled into this area he did not recognize, his injuries had been far more severe than he expected. Any other injuries he dealt with weren't that much of a problem, but now that he had been cut off from the Father's light he was weakened. His healing capabilities had faltered severely.
"Damn it," Gabriel muttered, struggling to keep himself upright. He didn't have time to waste, he had to go find that machine and defeat it before he died, otherwise hell would fall... And it didn't take a genius to guess that heaven would be the next target of the blood fueled machines. Yet as he swayed, one hand clutching at the prominent gash in his side. His grip on consciousness wavered before finally he was out. His dreams, if you could even call them that, were filled were terrifying images. Gabriel witnessed the machine slaughter others left and right, there was nothing he could do to save them. He could only watch in horror. This dream didn't last long, suddenly stirring awake in this unfamiliar place.
He was propped up on a soft cushion, a hand towel was pressed against his most severe injury, stemming the bleeding. Gabriel winced in pain, the blistering torment surging through his body causing him to gasp in pain. Slowly, he managed to lift his head, blurry vision moving around the room, "Where... Where am I?"
